Speaking about his encounter with a real life witch, Layi Wasabi spoke about it saying:
LAYI WASABI: Have you ever had an encounter with a witch before? I grew up in a very native town where there's still lot of indigenous craft, religion of the forefathers. And you know, when there's a lot of that, there's the other side of it you understand.
So I've had a couple encounters with people who confess to be witches, in church anyway. But the scariest one that I had was at a particular ori oke [spiritual mountain top]. Before then, I've been—you know there are some witches that you suspect, they don't confess, but you suspect by word of mouth: that aunty is a witch, that woman is a witch.
But this particular day, my mother and grandmother, I don't know what those women are always looking for. They drove us, me and my younger brother, they drove us to one particular ori oke 2 hours from our house in the middle of the night cuz it was supposed to be a vigil.
So we go to this ori oke and the regular prayer prayer prayer, but I noticed one prophetess at the back. As they were praying, she wasn't having any reaction, she was just observing the crowd. And the man that was leading the prayer was praying fervently. He was shouting shouting shouting.
By the time he was done, he said everything we are doing here is child's play, that the person that is coming after him is much greater than he is. That he is the John the Baptist to her Jesus Christ: that was the prophet that was silent all through.
This woman mounted the pulpit and the first thing that came out of this woman's mouth, she said there are witches here. And this is an experience that my mom is very used to, but for some reason that particular night scared her. I could tell because of the way she held me and my brother.
She said there are witches here, you left your witchcraft on the top of the roof of your house, before I count seven, come out. She asked us to close our eyes and she will count to seven, that if they don't come out, they will not enjoy what God will do to them.
In my mind, I was like are you actually going to come out witches? Are you going to confess? Na so she count one, two, the atmosphere was tense. By five, the woman beside me screamed! Beside me!
Witchcraft beside me. This woman screamed, and she came out on the floor. The prophet started to kabosh and the witch started to confess. She confessed to all manner of strange things.
