My Dear Birthday Boy

Dear Little Man,

You’ll be turning three soon. You have been such a wild ride for me. You have become one of my greatest influences. You are such a clown. You can brighten the room with your silliness. You’ll be a comedian some day, I can tell. Little man, you are always smiling and that alone can change the world. Everything has changed since you have entered the world.

Shortly after you were born, Auntie lost a part of herself because Auntie became really sick. I ended up needing to have surgery. Once I was home I wasn’t able to pick you up and it broke my heart. However you felt my sadness and would cry until you were placed in my arms. Then I would start crying too. You have helped me so much in my journey. After all, I am just like a second mom to you. We snuggled and watched Coco Melon together. It was the only thing you’d want (other than me) when you were upset. It makes me feel a bit sad that you no longer listen to it. As each day goes by, you grow a little bit older. When you were little you use to fall asleep on me, and recently you have taken back sleeping on Auntie. I missed that feeling. It’s the best feeling in the world.

You always show the love you have for someone on your face. You love with all your heart, feet, hands and body weight. When I am having bad days you know just how to cheer me up. You get me out of my head long enough. There should be more people like you in the world. If there was, the world would be a way happier place. You started listening to music, loving the rhyme and beats. Loving the sound that the singer would make. I’ve never seen a child love music as much as you do. Maybe you’ll be a musician some day.

You are speaking so good now. You know your ABCs and you are unstoppable. You are so funny. Some nights you howl like your fur cousin Lily when you are in your bed. You wear your sisters clothing, and you rock it! Hearing you laugh is literally the best gift in the world. Your belly laughs and your smile are contagiou. Whenever I need a snuggle you are always there for me. Whenever I need cheering up you know exactly what to do.

You amazed me the other night when I was watching you for a few days while Mommy and Daddy were out of town to see Papa graduate from Boot Camp. You had come up to me and held your hand to my cheek and said: “I so proud of you”. I started crying because your Auntie is going through a lot right now. “Oh NO! Why so sad? Why cryin’?” You asked. I reassured you that I wasn’t sad. We snuggled until you had asked to go to bed. Time and time again, you are always there in my time of need. You are my whole world and I will protect you with my life. You are so pure, so innocent.

You have a lot of growing up to do, so many new adventures awaits you. Stay funny, stay loving and caring. Dance your heart away, listen to music that soothes your soul. Be the little prankster (in a good way) that you know you are. You are a big helper, and stay that way. Be the better man than those are in the world. Shine your light bright baby boy.
