Most People Have Enemies. The Wise One Has Adversaries

Here's the difference

By RabihPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Living means going through experiences.

Going through experiences means making different choices.

Sometimes, some choices are better than others.

But each one of them gives a certain outcome.

A comfortable/familiar experience makes us feel safe and thus, gives us the clarity to act appropriately.

An uncomfortable/unfamiliar experience makes us confused and thus, clouds our judgement to act appropriately.

Experiences mean memories.

Memories construct our worldview.

Our worldview is our compass.

As long as we experience life according to our compass — we feel great.

“Positive” memories are formed.

Whenever we don’t experience life according to our compass — we feel tense.

“Negative” memories are formed.

Give enough time to tension and it turns into resistance.

Unfortunately, this is what most people do.

And as the wise once said.

What you resist, persists.

Give enough time to resistance and it turns into denial.

Denial equals delusion.

Delusion equals a lack of touch with reality, obviously.

That’s when people close themselves.

Develop unhealthy habits.

Believe they’re unlucky, that something or someone is plotting against them. And so on.

That’s when people give their power away.

And believe to be hopeless and helpless pawns.

What most forget is that life doesn’t discriminate.

Nothing is against us.

Our worldview is ours.

But.

Life contains all world views.

To believe that things will only go according to our worldview is not practical.

Yet. That’s what we do.

And as a reminder, or as an invitation to wake up from our sleep, life “hits” us in different ways.

If we’re quick to notice it. We grow up.

If we don’t. Life hits harder. Until we do.

Challenging situations and people. Tough experiences.

Whatever creates adversity in our life.

They’re mediums life uses. A way to wake us up.

While practical actions can always be taken to work with whatever situation we find ourselves in.

What matters most is our internal state.

How we process events in real-time.

As we learn to accept that our fixed and rigid worldview may not be the ultimate one.

We learn to release our grip from it.

And suddenly, we’re surprised by how much diversity exists in life.

From the most obvious ones.

The different life forms, the colors, the shapes, and their endless possible combinations.

To the more subtle ones.

How people think, feel, and interpret life.

Something changes in us at this point.

We realize that we may have taken ourselves too seriously.

That life could be more than just what we tried to make it into.

That’s when we open ourselves.

And that’s how we stop reacting, how we release past conditioning.

That’s how we end the limiting pattern in our lives, once and for all.

Overcoming adversity is less about being stubborn, and more about being subtle.

Whatever the situation we’re facing and however demanding it is on our part— as long as we’re open to learning from it, to keep being life’s eternal student — we overcome it.

No matter what comes to you, as long as you give it its due respect by not resisting its presence — you’ll overcome it.

An adversary is not an enemy.

Enemies make us smaller.

Adversaries make us bigger.

As long as we face an adverse situation/person with an open mind, and an open heart — we outgrow it.

If it applies to you.

The ability to keep going. The courage to remain open-minded. The power to keep an open heart. All while feeling like giving up.

That’s what makes you special.

As a note. For this and previous writings.

To believe in something is to have faith in it, to trust. This is not the kind of beliefs we're speaking of in most writings. "No one's unlucky, illnesses always have a cause, you're meant to be prosperous and fulfilled. Etc." If you've felt some sort of resistance to any of those statements, it's because limiting beliefs exist. And the eradication of those beliefs is what we're always speaking of.
