Love in Colors

A Dance of Love and Memory

By Maple In SpringPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

That night was deep blue, like a starry sky holding its breath. Emily stood in a dim room, looking at Alex and trying to remember every part of his face.

"Let's not talk about saying goodbye," she said softly, her voice shaking. "Let's just enjoy this moment."

Alex understood. They had their own way of being together, no words needed, just like they'd been since they first met.

Rewind to three years back. They bumped into each other at a coffee shop. Emily was having trouble with her laptop, and Alex came over with a kind smile to help. His smile was like the first warm day after a long winter, making Emily feel happy inside.

Their love story moved fast. They were different – Emily, dreaming in colors and making art, and Alex, studying hard to be a doctor. But they fit together perfectly.

But then things changed. Alex got a chance to study far away, a big opportunity. They tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, but the thought of saying goodbye was always there, like a dark cloud.

Back to their last night together. They sat close, talking and laughing, remembering good times and feeling sad about the end.

Alex broke the silence. "I love how you find beauty in small things."

Emily looked up at him. "And I love how you make sense of my wild thoughts. You keep me steady."

They got up and danced without music, just moving together. It was a dance about love, goodbyes, and making the most of now.

When the night was almost over, they knew they had to say goodbye. They kissed, a kiss that felt like it would last forever.

"I’ll always love you," Alex whispered.

"And I’ll always have a part of you with me," Emily said, her eyes full of tears.

Then they went their separate ways, carrying the memory of that night.

The next morning, Emily watched Alex leave. She held onto his shirt, smelling the scent that reminded her of him. It was something real from a love that was now just a memory.

Days passed, and Emily felt lonely. Her apartment was too quiet, and her paintings didn't seem as bright. She would sit and think about the past, feeling like she was lost in a dream.

Alex was busy with his new life, learning a lot. But at night, he would think of Emily, remembering her laugh and her smile.

One evening, Emily found an old photo of them at a fair, both laughing and happy. She realized their love was still a part of her, inspiring her art.

She started a new art project called "Love in Colors," showing moments of their relationship as ongoing, not just ended.

Alex wrote letters to Emily, sharing his thoughts. He never sent them, but it felt good to write them down.

A year later, Emily's art show was a big hit. People loved the emotions and colors in her paintings. Alex was there, looking amazed at her work.

They talked after the show, catching up.

"Your art," Alex said, "it’s like you kept our memories alive."

Emily smiled. "I found your letters. They made me feel close to you."

Then Alex shared some news – he was back for good. He had finished his program and got a job offer here, back home.

"I never stopped loving you," Emily said, hopeful.

"And I never will," Alex replied.

They stood under the stars, feeling like this was a new start. Their love story wasn’t simple; it was a mix of good and tough times, but always filled with love.

Life went on, with ups and downs, but their love stayed strong. It showed that sometimes, goodbye isn't really the end. It's just another way to say, “I'll love you forever.”
