Little Black Book

Hi, I'm a 15-year-old boy named Bentley, and I'm on my way to meet up with the others at the skate park. Parker comes riding by on his skateboard. He’s my cousin, and my best friend. We’re more than halfway there when we see the bloody red sky coming up.

As we meet up with the rest of the group, we get ready for our weekly heist, we would all split up into multiple little groups each group would be within 20 minutes of each other. We go because Parker's mom, is extremely sick. We've been doing this our whole lives the stealing part, but Sandy, has only been sick for 2 years. A couple of years ago we went on a family vacation to Florida. Sandy got stung or bit by some sort of creature. The bad thing is that we were surrounded by animals at the time. We were at the Jacksonville zoo.

About a year later, when we finally had enough money to get the treatment that she needed. My mom and I went over to Sandy and Parker’s house to give them a ride to the hospital. Sandy hasn’t had the ability to drive since the incident, so she ended up selling her car to save up for her hospital visit. On our way we passed beaches, villages, carnivals, and nursing homes. Once we get there she signed in and we go find ourselves some open chairs, while Sandy is taken back to her room.

Her doctor ends up being Ben, one of her ex’s from High School. He’s now a scientist who is working on scientific experiments and has a lab partner named Jerry which is a talking monkey. Ben has her take some sleeping pills. Once she fell asleep, he ended up moving her to a bed with leather cuffs for her ankle's, wrists, and neck, so that she can’t pull away. Ben gets a needle, and some liquids Jerry gets his hands on it and injects it into Sandy. A few hours later when she wakes up, she’s in a totally different room than before, with Parker’s friend group waiting out in the hall. And some close family. She has some (electrodes) which are basically sticky padding with wires that check your heart. I guess he did that to her out of all people for her breaking up with him.

When she is released from the hospital all her earlier symptoms are gone, just like that. But a week later she has some weird things happening to her, like mind reading, flight, super speed, time control. Later that day, Ethan the oldest of the friend group, comes over with Bentley, and Sasha. Sasha, you know that one girl that I've had a huge crush on since the 5th grade. “See what I mean you guys?! She has superpowers.”

A couple of weeks later, when I was at the town library researching up the symptoms of Sandy on my phone, I ended up running across a little black book. It had black lace all around the edges with a title reading “Secrets the government doesn’t want to leak.” So, I obviously open it up and start reading, I'm 5 minutes into it and I get a text from Sasha “saying that she’s going to the Larsen's-drive-in and was just wondering if I would like to meet her there.” I didn’t know what to say because I didn’t want to betray Parker but at the same time, I didn’t want to be rude and say no, so I did the right thing and told Parker about it and he went in my place. Sasha likes him so why not.

Later that night I'm sitting up straight in my desk, with the lights on, and the book open. A few pages ahead from where I left off, Theres some talk about this. Abandoned house on Clark avenue which is actually only a couple of miles out of town. In the book it says that somewhere in that house is a ton of cash. It also say’s that no one has ever found it, but I think we will. Dang I need to tell the others about this!

The next day as I'm on my way to meet up with the boys I text in the group chat what I read the night before and that we should do it. Later that day I start to pack my bag a shovel, snacks, water, and a couple of flashlights. As soon as it starts to get darker out, I text the boys that it is time.

Were at the creepy old house and Ethan went in first because we were being pussies about it as we enter the house, we all spread out and start searching. At first, we thought that it was cool but eventually it started to get stressful because we couldn’t find anything. But I remembered that Parker has a good eye, so Parker double checked the entire house as he was finishing looking threw, he noticed a number pad behind a picture on a bookshelf. In Ethans free time he hacks so hopefully he knows how to hack into the number pad and unlock it.

He got it! He unlocked it! The number pad unlocks itself and a secret passageway built into the bookshelf. I was so excited we found $20,000 on literally our first try and it's all thanks to that “Little Black Book.”
