"Hey, I'm on my way to court". "Good luck", Rhonda laughs. "I can't believe you pushed the matter this far over $60." "I'm no quitter. Today these people will learn who I am. I have a feeling they expect me not to show up. Anyway, I'll call everyone later."
"I am c
raving a burger with extra grease." "I want you to have that burger so bad, I am willing to pick-up the food. We meet a Charity's right?" "Of course." "Alright, I'll meet you there with the food."
Once a month, Liz, Charity, Rhonda, and Kim have been meeting for lunch, dinner, or any other type of gathering since graduation. Today, they are meeting a Charity's to watch a movie and just hang out. Liz arrived with the food and placed the food on a table. While separating the orders, she yelled, "why did I go through the drive-thru!" Liz realized that the order was wrong and two items were missing. She took the food back to the restaurant, explained what happened then requested that the order be corrected. The cashier would not correct her order. Liz asked to speak to a manager. The manager would not come out to speak with her; so, she left the food on the counter and walked out. Food was bought elsewhere and the rest of the day was enjoyed by all.
The next day, Liz called the restaurant to speak with another manager. Two days of phone calls yielded no positive results. Liz decided to contact a mediator for consumers. Since each letter requires that the correspondent is given thirty days to reply and finally reaching the proper person, the entire ordeal took one year and one month to receive a false declaration that a refund was issued. This is when Liz decided to take them to court. She chose to not file in small claims court because she wanted an elected judge to oversee her case.
Liz presented every second of what happened. She meticulously recorded every phone call, every letter, and evidence of all undo stress endured in her little black book received as a gift for her last promotion at work.
After weighing all of the evidence presented and finding enormous favor in Liz, the judge ruled that she receive twenty thousand dollars for the months she had to fight with the restaurant over a matter that should have been resolved well before allowing the need to sue.
Liz was surprised and grateful. She filled out and signed all of the necessary paperwork and quietly walked to her car. After getting herself together, she conferenced a call to Rhonda, Charity, and Kim - "Let's Do Lunch!"
