My Worst Date
It was winter time. Cold and dreary. I was 19 years old and twice over a new mother. I had found out my boyfriend of four years had been cheating on me with his sister's best friend. I had thought he was out working many nights when, in fact, they were sleeping together and staying in his car those nights. I was devastated. My youngest was just a few months old.

My High School Sweetheart
The only reason I knew about him was through my friend, who was crushing hard on him. She had it really bad for some reason, but I didn't really pay much attention, since that was typical for her. It followed through high school, when the two were on and off again. She talked about him, complaining to me when I when to visit, and I ended ripping his baby picture! That was a little insane, but I thought he was probably a jerk, since I only cared about hearing her side of the story.

I Got Super Lucky at Sixteen to Meet the Man of My Dreams
I know, I know, at sixteen, how can you know? But I knew from the first kiss he was it. I also know how cliché this sounds from that "first kiss" I knew. He was just different, he cared about not only how I felt, but how I experienced things with him. He didn't have much money, as we were both focusing on just finishing high school but he made the most out of our days together. My mother always said "marry the man who will climb mountains for you," well this guy had no car so he biked thirteen miles to my house twice a day for seven days just to spend maybe three hours with me. Was he it? He went from helping me clean my childhood room to being the only person who wanted to stick around.

Captain Creeper
I've always been put off by the idea of dating, I'm more of a "love at first sight" kind of person. My friends and family often poked fun at this, believing me overly selective. They thought if a guy seemed nice and was reasonably attractive, that I should,"stop being such a snob and give him a chance." Let me be clear, I wasn't a gold digger or excessively shallow type, but I didn't want to waste time with anyone with whom I didn't share that special spark! I suppose my friend's lectures eventually wore me down though, priming me for the events I'm about to share.

Interpersonal Dissonance
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go in with you?” Jaime asked Monte while looking at the small blue house that was surrounded by weeds. The deformed plants were desperately trying to be flowers and she wondered who owned this house and if the weed jungle was a conscious decision.
