Karmic Relationships 101
Very common, yet seldom understood

What is a karmic relationship, and more importantly, are you in one?
What is a karmic relationship?
They are called karmic because they consist of two people coming together again, as they have in past lifetimes. Given this opportunity you can pick up where you left off, learning some of the lessons that perhaps, you weren’t able to in the past.
It’s a relationship that brings high highs and low lows. Typically, there is a strong draw to one another which can make it easy to confuse the karmic relationship for a soulmate or twin flame union.
Karmic relationships come with tons of learning potential. They are going to help you learn what you do and don’t want in a partner. Most people will date at least one if not more karmic partners in their lifetimes. They are like stepping stones on the path of love.
The good in a karmic relationship
As mentioned, karmic relationships help you learn what you do and don’t want. They present valuable lessons that help you grow as a person. They teach you how to create and maintain boundaries, communicate, compromise, and learn your love style.
Karmic relationships give you insight into the type of partner you are, especially if you have more than one over time. It’s an important part of learning, growing, and shaping yourself in the life area of love.
Due to the fact that you have likely shared past lives with a karmic partner, there will be a lot of emotions, and a big chance to grow in ways you didn’t in the past. The potential for completing a lesson in this lifetime that you started in another is considerable.
The bad in the karmic relationship
However, with potential, there is always the flip side. Can we make the most of it, will we see the lessons and actually learn them this time around? That is the challenge with karmic relationships. We might be tempted to fall into old patterns with our karmic partners and not move forward as our souls intended.
Or, we may move from one karmic relationship to another not learning any of the lessons, and becoming entrenched in patterns.
If you notice you are living the same relationship with a different partner each time, take a good hard look at what you are bringing into your relationships. Do you try to rescue people, fix them, control them or have codependency issues? These are only some examples of behaviors we can all fall into, from past lives as well as childhood patterns.
All relationships are meant to help us grow, this is especially true of karmic relationships. Either way, be sure to reflect on what you are bringing to the relationship and decide what you are ready to heal and what you are ready to focus on.
How to know if it is a karmic relationship
Here are a few signs that it is karmic:
Strong draw
Strong sense of familiarity
Highs and lows
Get stuck in patterns easily
You wonder if the relationship is healthy
You wonder if they are the right one for you
Karmic relationships are confusing because they start out so good but they present many problems too. The old lessons from the past can cause you to feel stuck in patterns. Where it can feel as if there is no room for growth. It can leave you questioning whether the relationship is healthy or if it is the right one for you. Rightly so, it is a stepping stone, and it can feel wrong deep down.
What to do if you are in a karmic relationship
First, make sure it is actually karmic, twin flame relationships can often feel like karmic relationships, know the difference is it karmic, soulmate, or twin flame.
If you do think you are in a karmic relationship, it doesn’t mean you have to head for the door. You want to carefully assess the relationship and what it is bringing to your life. Have you learned lessons from the relationship? Are you still in the process of learning them? Is it relatively healthy? If so, you can stay to further learn. If it is in any way abusive or leaves you feeling disempowered, leave, you can assess a relationship after as well as learn lessons after. Nothing is worth putting yourself physically or mentally in danger, ever.
Karmic relationships are important experiences that help us become the people we are meant to be. They shape us, help us know who we are and who we aren’t. They exist in non-romantic forms as well, but the romantic ones can really leave a mark on us. This is why they are so valuable to the soul; we can finally complete a cycle, lesson, or soul contract set out long before.
For all of these reasons they bring our lives value, and we can be thankful for the lesson learned. Next time we will be all the wiser over who we love and ready to meet them with a truly open heart.
