Kamala Harris Under Fire

Vice President’s Bumbling Incompetence Exposed

By Horace WaslandPublished about a year ago 3 min read

In the wake of President Joe Biden's dramatic exit from the race, Vice President Kamala Harris appears poised to secure the Democratic nomination. However, numerous commentators argue that Harris's record of fumbles, mumbles, and gaffes makes her no better a candidate than Biden.

The Critics Speak Out

Rita Panahi, Megan Kelly, and Dena Deorio from Sky News Allstars have been vocal about Harris’s perceived incompetence and unpopularity. Panahi lambasts Harris for being inept and radically left, emphasizing her inability to win a single presidential primary and her unpopularity even within her own party. "Kamala Harris is the inept, radically left, and wildly unpopular vice president who is now being presented as the Democrats' great hope," Panahi said. "Polling shows she's even less popular than Biden among Independents in crucial swing states."

Kelly echoes this sentiment, describing Harris as a fool who struggles to communicate effectively. "I'm sorry to be ad hominem, but she's a fool," Kelly remarked. "She thinks she's Oprah with her attempts at profundity that never land. Her level of communication is like speaking to people as if they are four years old."

Repeating Patterns and Foreign Policy Missteps

Deorio highlights Harris's tendency to repeat the same lines, calling it a bizarre and abnormal obsession. "Kamala Harris keeps repeating the same lines over and over, and it's quite frankly abnormal," Deorio noted. She also critiques Harris's foreign policy explanations, citing a simplistic description of the Ukraine-Russia conflict that was delivered to an adult audience as if speaking to children.

"Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine, so basically that's wrong," Harris said in a much-mocked explanation.

Controversial Opinions and Debating Skills

The criticisms extend to Harris's debating skills and handling of international issues. Panahi points out her poor performance in debates, while Kelly and Deorio emphasize her perceived incompetence in explaining complex topics. "Kamala Harris has never won a presidential primary, and her debating skills are dire," Panahi added.

In one particularly memorable moment, Tulsi Gabbard, former Representative from Hawaii, harshly criticized Harris's record as a prosecutor during a Democratic primary debate. Gabbard accused Harris of putting over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughing about it when asked if she ever smoked marijuana herself. "She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the State of California," Gabbard charged, "and fought to keep the cash bail system in place, which impacts poor people in the worst kind of way."

Public Perception and Polling Data

Despite the heavy criticism, one Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Harris leading Donald Trump, although Republican strategist John Jordan calls this an outlier. "Other polls taken in the last week show Trump with a two to six-point advantage," Jordan explained. "Reuters/Ipsos has historically not been very accurate predictively."

Fundraising and Future Prospects

Harris has broken a fundraising record with over $100 million in just a day, demonstrating her significant financial backing. However, Jordan remains skeptical of her chances against Trump. "Both sides are going to be able to saturate the airwaves and do everything they want to do," he said. "Donald Trump has well into the double-digit leads on all of the issues that matter."

Gender and Electability

Alex Stein, a controversial Sky News contributor, controversially suggested that even people on the left may be reluctant to support a female president. "Even people on the left, I feel, are a little misogynistic," Stein remarked. "I think people don't mind having a woman vice president, but I think there's a hesitation about a female president."

However, Megan Kelly pushed back on this narrative, arguing that the issue is more about the candidate's qualities than gender. "If they put up a female who was actually accomplished and likable, she would have won," Kelly said. "But they put up Hillary and now they've got Kamala. It's like they're determined to make female presidential candidates fail."

Closing

As the Democratic convention approaches, Kamala Harris faces intense scrutiny and skepticism from both her critics and the public. While she has secured substantial financial support and a potential lead in some polls, her perceived incompetence and unpopularity pose significant challenges on her path to the presidency. Whether she can overcome these obstacles and prove her critics wrong remains to be seen.
