It Actually Does Benefit You to Take Breaks from Your Favorite Passions Every Now and Then

no matter how much you love a certain thing, it will always help to just step away and take a breather... no matter how long

Twenty-Two days. That's how long it took me to post again on this site. No way did I plan to stop posting for almost a month, but I just felt myself dying every time I would sit in front of my computer and made a decision to just walk away for a bit. There's nothing wrong with just walking away. Hell, I walked away from posting to YouTube for about two years after posting constantly for years and here I am, in 2022, trying to get myself back into it after discovering just exactly why I wanted to do it in the first place.

Don't burn yourself out. Trust me. I don't care how much you "love" the thing you're passionate about; if you feel yourself burning out, walk away. Quickly. Burn out is no joke and I do not wish that on anyone.

You don't exactly have to plan out when you take breaks. Yes. Sometimes, depending on what it is that you want to take a break from, it could help to plan it out. But sometimes not planning those breaks you may so desperately need can benefit you from the worst-case scenario.

Taking a break, for me, was a pretty easy decision for me to make.

Since 2012, the month of September has always been difficult for me to fight through but this year... this year felt different. 2022. A decade since 2012. A decade since the worst tragedy I ever felt occurred. Not to mention, I had just lost a job I was absolutely obsessed with just two months prior. I just needed to step away. From everything. Of course, isolating is the worst option to choose but sometimes... I just need to be away from others.

I tried to write. I did. I would spend hours sitting in front of the computer, staring at the blank page, trying to think of something to write. Anything I could think of. Obviously, anything would be something to post for the 40 people who chose to subscribe to my Vocal page. Anything, right?

No matter how long I would stare at the blank screen, my brain would remain blank. It was almost as if I lost all creative control. What if this was it? What if this was the day I dreaded the most? This was it. I finally reached the day I'd never write again. I was inside my worst nightmare, and for some reason I couldn't wake myself up.

That was it. That was the moment. I turned away from Vocal, shut off the computer, and decided to just... walk away. It was the best thing I could think to do. If my mind was going blank every time I tried to sit down and write, I'm not about to worsen it by forcing something to grind inside that skull of mine.

Now here I am... ready to write again. Ready to get back into the style of things. Ready to get back to the thing I was once so passionate about in the first place.

Signs You May Be Suffering from Exhaustion/Burn-Out When it Comes to The Passions You Love

  • No matter what you do, you can't move forward. Whether it's staring at a blank screen or you just can't seem to continue doing the things you once loved, you can't seem to find the strength to continue ahead on the journey that is your passion in question.
  • All you want to do is just stop/give up. You lost the motivation. It's okay. It happens to the best of us. Sometimes you just can't see your skills getting anywhere and begin to second guess yourself. Don't stress yourself out, love. You aren't terrible. People love what you do. Just remember to take a breather and remind yourself exactly why you are doing what you love to do.
  • Something is holding you back. It could be a person in your life, or someone from your past, or even your own self; but something's holding you back from your greatest protentional. Sometimes the best way to help is to take a step back and begin to think about whatever it is that's holding you back. Try to remove it, if you can. A great way to help with this is to constantly remind yourself that nobody can take away the one thing you love. Nobody can keep you away from doing the things you love to do; no matter what they say or do to try and push you away from those passions you hold close to your heart.

Thank you for taking the time to read my article. I'm sorry I haven't posted in almost a month but hopefully, as stated above, I'm back and ready to get back on the saddle. If you liked this article, don't be shy; there's more to read over on my profile.
