Into the Unknown
Jack's point of view on the ship that never sinks.
I was a poor fellow. I was nothing special. I cheated my way through life in order to get by. I tricked my own best friend. You may call me a sleeze or a good-for-nothing man, but what I did led me to the greatest love. It was May 31, 1911, when I cheated my way onto the ship that was never to sink. It was the talk of the town and all the riches will be on this ship and me, well, I just could not waste any time on that. I slithered my way onto that ship, brushing past the guards without them even acknowledging me due to them holding back another clown trying to board.
I never had luck on my side until I landed on this point because right in front of me was Saber, my best friend who was waving a key at me. Saber was a good man-better than I. He was meant to do good things until his wife left him for another man. She took his money and ran with it and not looking back. Saber-at least to me-was never sad. He was always smiling and thinking good things of people when it was the rich that took from him.
"How'd you get in here?" I whispered as we walked to the deck of the ship.
"Gambled," he shrugged.
Saber was a lengthy man with deep brown eyes. His curly hair hung into his face. He wore tattered clothes, but what can you expect for homeless men.
I turned from him and smiled.
"Guess we have luck on our si-" before I could finish my sentence I felt something knock into me.
"Oh! Pardon me," a melody voice rang.
I looked to see a woman. She wore a red, elegant, floor length dress. Her hair was as bright as fire with eyes of green. The sun cascaded off her beauty torturing the fellows that gaucked at her. She was a mesmerizing beauty-something from a man's dream.
I stared at her bright lips that were coated with red lipstick.
I was a fool.
I am usually charming with the ladies, but somehow I could not manage a single word. As if she knew her beauty, she smiled at me and strode past us like we were any regular folks.
"You just gonna stand there gapping like a fish or are we gonna find our room?" Saber said with a hint of a smile.
I jabbed his shoulder and tilted my head for him to follow me. "I think it's this way."
The crashes of the waves soared over the voices. The smell of lobsters cooking brushed through the air as we made our waves past the riches into, what I would call, the poor cellar. It was below the ship and we had to climb down multiple steps to get to our room.
"Here it is, " Saber gasped. "Come on, Jack."
We made our way into our room that only consisted of two small sized beds. It worked for me, but I felt terrible for Saber.
"You think you're gonna fit," I chuckled. Saber gave me a humerous smile and laid across the bed. It was squeaky and it was not comfortable, but how can someone like me complain? I never been on a boat before, never really had a bed to sleep on, never had much of anything.
Before I knew it, I heard snoring coming from my right. He must have been tired and I was beat myself.
I let my eyes close for only her to appear beneath my eyelids. My heart jolted by the thought of her. This was an unknown feeling, but to me everything is unknown. What I did know was that she was captivatingly beautiful and I had to see her again.
I just had to.
