Even though I'm quite young I know that nowadays is far easier to listen to music. There's no need to buy the CD of that specific singer if I want to support them or, just to listen. I now have a app with all the songs that I want, that lets me listen to them anywhere for free, which is very nice I must say.
Now, one thing that I also noticed (not because I have done it…obviously, who do you think I am?) is that instead of choosing just one album to listen to, people make playlists, one to put on when they go on roadtrips, another to put on when you go to that sleepover, one with their all time favorite songs and… one to send to a certain someone. *wink wink* So, can we look at the act of making a playlist to someone as a love act?
My answer, is yes! I think that making a playlist to someone is actually pretty sweet, I mean someone took time of their day to browse millions of songs and artists and thought about me and my taste? Ask me in marriage after because I will be in love, probably (I will). When we think about the five love languages: acts of service, physical touch, gift giving, quality time and words of affirmation, we can consider making playlists to offer, even tough it isn't actually something physical as gift giving. Now, if want to add a little sparkle to it, have you ever heard about burning a CD? You can even decorate the case and make really cute and it would be a sentimental gift.
(See here a tutorial hot burn a CD at home)

Imagine gibing something like this to someone, is better than an expensive gift that you gifted just because it was pricey. Personally, I would prefer something like this I'm a sucker for handmade gifts. You can have make it something annual! Or seasonal, like "songs of our summer '24" or " a song filled 2024". You can think of a title, I wasn't paid to do that for you.
There is something quite heartwarming about knowing that someone was listening to a song and went "This is totally (person's name) vibe!" or, that in the middle of the lyrics saw my reflection.
While flowers some day will rot music will always stay fresh and sweet.
On movies, romantic ones to be specific, the ones that are really really cliche the main character forgives the partner because they put their song on or sang their song as a way to show "I still feel the same", "this is the way you make me feel" and "think about the memories we have with this song". I guess that giving the main character their favorite flowers would work too, but I personally would prefer the music one. Let's follow their advice and show love through acts, even small ones.
What I want to say is, There no need for expensive gifts, make them a playlist, burn it in a cd and gift that if you like the physical aspect. Show that you put time and thought in it. Valentines day is approaching and here I am giving you ideias of a really good gift, that can be cheap and thoughtful. Try it, I'm pretty sure that you're going to have good results, I mean, love songs are such a hit for a reason right? Imagine knowing that someone handpicked ones especially for you.
Have you ever made a playlist for someone? Or have you received one?
See ya,
JP
