How to boost your immunity in the cold season!
How good it would be to get through the cold season without suffering from a cold or a cold! Even if you can't get through the winter without a cold or two, the advice of specialists is simple: the secret lies in stimulating and strengthening the body's immunity.
It is a well-known fact that, especially in the cold season, viruses and bacteria "attack", most often, women who mentally and physically are at a very low level, the tired, stressed, who work a lot without periods. for relaxation, who has an inappropriate lifestyle or poor nutrition, as well as those who are pessimistic.
All of these are clear signs that their immune system is "tired." This "invisible army", which should protect you from infections, is weakened and lacks food or other incentives.
It is necessary to prepare your body for the fight against seasonal infections. The key to success? To exercise more, to adopt a healthy diet, to warm your body. This way, you have every chance to get through this winter without a fever, stuffy nose, headache, and sore throat.
Be sure that by preparing the "ground" for a solid immunity in advance, you can say goodbye to colds, flu, and other infections that threaten you during the cold period of the year. Here are some simple and effective solutions that will definitely increase your immunity.
Who or what "destroys" your immunity?
Many times we do not know what reduces the resistance of our immune system. Here are some causes:
- excess antibiotics: especially when taken without a doctor's recommendation;
- overwork: those who work more than ten hours a day get sick more easily and more often;
- extra pounds: makes breathing difficult and the blood will not get enough oxygen;
- inadequate nutrition: the body is deprived of some absolutely necessary substances;
- too much alcohol: alcohol affects the normal functioning of the immune system, especially the production of T lymphocytes, which produce antibodies.
Clean air warms the body
Even if the cold outside scares you, it does not mean that you are protected if you are locked in the house. It is best to go outside at least once-twice a day. And regular walks are very healthy: at least twice a week, for 30 minutes. Don't overdo it, but don't dress like a spring. Protect your feet in particular. Go faster, so that your body temperature does not drop too much.
Mineral supplements
In order to "do its job", the immune system needs minerals (zinc, copper, magnesium, iron) and vitamins (A, B, C, E). If even one of these elements is missing from the diet, the body's resistance decreases.
So strive to ensure a balanced diet, rich in healthy, energizing, nutritious products. For starters, get a mini-detox: eat only grapes for the first 48 hours and drink vegetable juices.
After that, you can switch to the "mineralizing" diet itself, consisting mainly of:
- fresh and dried fruits - oranges, lemons, grapefruit, apples, pears, blackcurrants, rosehips, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, dates, figs;
- vegetables - potatoes, cabbage, celery, carrots, peppers, cauliflower, onions, garlic;
- milk, cheese, eggs, vegetable oils, fish, and chicken - all provide valuable elements.
"Golden" combination
Consume as often as possible during this period, even daily, two basic products for stimulating immunity: yogurt and garlic.
Yogurt contains live ferments, especially probiotic yogurt, and, in addition to strengthening the body's immune system, reduces the risk of disease, balances digestion, cleanses the body of toxic substances, reduces cholesterol, and contains in addition, B vitamins, indispensable the proper functioning of the nervous system and the restoration of "aged" tissues or those affected by a disease.
It does not endanger your figure, because it is low in calories: skim yogurt has 38 calories, and whole milk yogurt - 64 calories per 100 grams.
As for garlic, you don't need a lot of arguments. Its richness in nutrients is unmatched (400 constituents). Contains over 12 antioxidants and no less than 30 substances with anticancer effect.
Its properties are numerous: it fights hypertension, lowers cholesterol, fluidizes the blood and prevents the formation of clots, destroys bacteria and viruses, prevents aging of the brain, treats inflammation… Garlic is almost a panacea. There is almost no condition, acute or chronic, mild or severe, on which it does not act beneficially. You can get all this by consuming at least one clove of raw garlic a day (3 g).
Move, move…
It is best to exercise outdoors, but if this is not possible, you can do it at home, in front of the open window. Thus, the blood will be better oxygenated, and the body will benefit more quickly from the substances it needs.
Scientists have shown that regular exercise (physical activity) stimulates the production of antibodies. It's worth a try too! You can jump rope, do some knee bends or even dance. But be careful, do not overdo it, you may get the opposite effect. It is good to know that when you do gymnastics, your heart rate should not exceed 150 beats per minute.
Winter phytotherapy
If you have an unbalanced diet, you are always stressed and tired, you smoke, drink a lot of coffee, and get some sleep, you need to bring the body an excess of vitamins and trace elements.
But before buying multivitamins from the pharmacy, consult a doctor. You can use phytotherapy resources to increase your resistance to viruses and keep your cold sores away.
Rosehip syrups and teas are an excellent source of vitamin C (remember that you need at least 200 mg of vitamin C a day to better withstand infections). From the drinks with antiviral action, you can choose thyme, pine, thyme, or elderflower tea. From now on, take echinacea tincture for a month (the quantity is specified in the product leaflet).
Essential oils can also help you, as they destroy most of the viruses and bacteria in the atmosphere. Use them when bathing (put 10 drops in the tub) or do inhalations (one-two drop in a bowl of boiled water). Eucalyptus, geranium, and rosemary oils are effective.
Full relaxation
Scientific studies also show that mental state influences the "mechanism" of the immune system. When you are stressed, the risk of contracting an infectious disease increases, and when you have high morale, the risk of getting sick decreases.
The conclusion is obvious: keep a good mood! Easy to say, but harder to do. Try it, though! To avoid fatigue and even the nervousness that sleep deprivation can give you, you should sleep at least seven hours a night.
During the day, give yourself short periods of relaxation. At home, for example, you can take a hot, sparkling bath.
At work, try to take two-three breaks of 5-10 minutes each, during which time you can take a short walk or a few exercises to relax.
