How I Sincerely Feel about Losing Grammy to Tems - Yemi Alade

Yemi opens up

By Jide OkonjoPublished 12 months ago 3 min read

Yesterday, the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held and saw a number of our Nigerian superstars in attendance. Artistes like Tems, Asake, Rema, and Yemi Alade were present at the event representing us; and of course, all of them were also nominated for Grammys themselves. At the end of the day though, Nigerian singer Tems clenched the award for Best African Music Performance beating other artistes like Asake, Burna Boy, and Yemi Alade.

Now, in a new post Yemi Alade is opening up about her Grammys experience and speaking candidly about how she feels about losing the Grammys to Tems. Here's what Yemi Alade said.

Speaking while at the Grammys, Yemi Alade said about being there:

YEMI ALADE: I really want to see everything that the Grammy ceremony is about. Because I've heard about it, read about it, but now, I want to be about it because I am part of it. So of course, it's a different feeling.

Unfortunately, while she experienced the event like she wanted to, she did not go home with a win. Taking to social media to write about the whole experience after, Yemi Alade said:

YEMI ALADE: It's my first time at the Grammys as a Nominee ...#GodDid 🙏 Thank you for believing since day 1 @taiyealiyu 👑 Congrats to you too and the entire @effyzziemusicgroup team. You saw the vision and never lost sight of it.

Congratulations to the winner @temsbaby 🔥 THANK YOU ALL FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT via social media and text message .I'll continue to bask in the aftermath of it all ❤️ .

ABOVE all, God did it! Halleluyah, Praise the Lord!!

Reacting to Yemi Alade's writeup, a number of people including Nollywood actress Omotola wrote sweet words of encouragement to Yemi saying "You still won . Keep going . Love the outfit repping my in laws . #Edoqueen #mamaafrica ❤️" Other stars like actress Nancy Isime, Georgina Ibeh, and even Awilo Longomba also shared sweet words to Yemi.

Nancy Isime said: "Congratulations my Babe!❤️It can only get better and better❤️" while Georgina Ibeh said "You are a winner already love ❤️❤️❤️ . Keep it going my Princess 👑👑 . Your outfit gosssssh always representing 🙌🙌" and Awilo Longomba said "Congratulations’Mama Africa 🙌 Proud of you 👍❤️"

It's good to see that ultimately Yemi Alade is taking the loss of the Grammy with grace and still seeing the whole experience as a positive one. At least, she has been able to finally cross it off her bucket list and that is a win all by itself.
