How I Saved My Hair from Hydrochlorothiazide with Red Light Therapy

I have always had thick and shiny hair that I was proud of. I loved to style it in different ways and experiment with different colors and products. My hair was one of my best features, and I never imagined that I would lose it.

But that’s what happened when I started taking hydrochlorothiazide, a medication that my doctor prescribed me for my high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a type of drug that helps to lower blood pressure by increasing the amount of urine produced by the kidneys. It also helps to reduce fluid retention and swelling in the body.

At first, I didn’t notice any changes in my hair. I was happy that my blood pressure was under control and that I felt better overall. But after a few months of taking hydrochlorothiazide, I started to see more and more hair on my pillow, in the shower, and on my brush. My hair became thinner, weaker, and duller. I was horrified by the sight of my scalp showing through my once-voluminous hair.

I panicked and searched online for the cause of my hair loss. That’s when I learned that hydrochlorothiazide can cause hair loss as a rare side effect. Apparently, it can interfere with the normal growth cycle of hair follicles, deplete the body of essential nutrients for hair growth, and alter the hormonal balance in the body. All these factors can contribute to hair loss.

I immediately called my doctor and asked him if I could stop taking hydrochlorothiazide or switch to another medication. He told me that it was not advisable to stop or change my medication without his supervision, as it could worsen my blood pressure and cause other complications. He also told me that hair loss from hydrochlorothiazide was not permanent and that it would grow back once I stopped taking the drug.

However, he didn’t tell me how long it would take for my hair to grow back or how much hair I would lose before that happened. He also didn’t offer me any solutions or remedies to prevent or treat my hair loss. He just told me to be patient and wait for the side effect to wear off.

I felt frustrated and helpless. I didn’t want to wait for months or years for my hair to grow back. I didn’t want to lose more hair than I already had. I wanted to do something about it, but I didn’t know what.

That’s when I stumbled upon an article about red light therapy for hair loss. Red light therapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses low-level laser or LED light to stimulate hair growth and improve hair quality. It works by increasing blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to the scalp and hair follicles. It also activates the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the energy source for cellular metabolism and growth. Red light therapy can also prolong the growth phase (anagen) of the hair cycle and prevent premature entry into the resting phase (telogen).

The article claimed that red light therapy for hair growth was safe and effective for both men and women. It cited several studies that showed positive results from using red light therapy for hair loss. For example, a 2014 study found that red light therapy increased hair density by 37% in women and 35% in men after 16 weeks of treatment. A 2013 study found that red light therapy increased hair count by 39% in men after 16 weeks of treatment. A 2017 study found that red light therapy improved hair thickness and fullness in women after 24 weeks of treatment.

The article also mentioned that red light therapy for hair loss could be done at home with a red light therapy cap. A red light therapy cap is a device that fits over your head and emits red light onto your scalp. It is easy to use, comfortable to wear, and requires only a few minutes of treatment per day.

I was intrigued by this article and decided to give red light therapy a try. I searched online for a red light therapy cap that had good reviews and met the following criteria:

A high number of diodes (at least 80) that cover the entire scalp area

A wavelength of 650 nm (nanometers) that penetrates the scalp and reaches the hair follicles

A power output of at least 5 mW (milliwatts) per diode that delivers enough energy to stimulate hair growth

A cordless design that allows me to move freely during treatment

A rechargeable battery that lasts for several sessions

A timer that automatically shuts off the device after the recommended treatment time

A warranty that covers the device for at least one year

I found a red light therapy cap that met all these requirements and ordered it online. It arrived within a week and I was eager to try it out.

I followed the instructions that came with the device and started using it every day for 20 minutes. I wore it in the morning before going to work or in the evening before going to bed. I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort during the treatment. In fact, I found it relaxing and soothing.

After a month of using the red light therapy cap, I noticed that my hair loss had slowed down significantly. I saw less hair on my pillow, in the shower, and on my brush. My hair felt stronger and smoother. After two months of using the red light therapy cap, I noticed that my hair had started to grow back. I saw new hairs sprouting from my scalp, filling in the gaps and covering the bald spots. My hair looked thicker, fuller, and healthier. After three months of using the red light therapy cap, I was amazed by the results. My hair had completely recovered from the damage caused by hydrochlorothiazide. It was as thick and shiny as it was before I started taking the medication.

I was overjoyed by the transformation of my hair. I felt more confident and beautiful than ever. I received compliments from my family, friends, and coworkers on how great my hair looked. I even got a new haircut and color to celebrate my new look.

I am so grateful that I discovered red light therapy for hair loss. It saved my hair from hydrochlorothiazide and restored my self-esteem. It was the best investment I ever made for my hair health.

If you are taking hydrochlorothiazide and experiencing hair loss, don’t despair. There is a solution that can help you prevent or treat your hair loss. Try red light therapy for hair loss and see the difference for yourself. You won’t regret it.
