How can you end the dry spell on your business?

One of the best feelings you’ll have when you are in your own business is when a business is flourishing. Clients are calling and emailing you, your calendar is full of jobs and appointments and your bank accounts and mailbox show a healthy abundance of money and checks.

But you know what? There is actually a drawback of being truly busy and in demand. And you know what that is? Self-satisfaction!

When things are going awesome, you may start taking yourself for granted! It is like you are always going to be this busy hence you don’t truly have to do anything else. Just relax and allow the jobs to roll in, right?

Well, you are wrong!

One of the most harmful mindsets you may have as a business owner or an artist like me is to that that you can stop marketing and actively implementing your endeavors to your business, simply because you are so busy. You might also console yourself that you just don’t have any time to carry out any marketing, as you are so busy.

This is what happens:

• You are highly zealous and you spend time in learning, marketing and applying yourself aggressively for getting new business.
• There is an influx in your business and you are in demand and busy. Hence you decide to stop marketing, as you don’t have new clients or work flowing into your funnel.
• All of a sudden, business drops and gets dried as all those clients are done hiring for you now. Simply because you have stopped marketing, you don’t have any new client or work flowing into your sales funnel.

The outcome?

The dry spell in your business and it is really something to panic!

• No emails or phone calls are coming in. Projects are going slow. Your mail box and bank accounts are witnessing much less action.

So, in a nutshell, there lesson you got is although your business is booming, you still should be marketing.

If you are consistent about your marketing and keep on learning, even when you are, you’ll keep on enhancing your business security and success with the passage of time.

And this is applicable to you, although if you are one of the fortunate ones with incredible clients that has been using your services for years and that pays you really well.

Have you ever thought what may happen if that client decides to go with a different company? In this scenario you should definitely cast business spells to retain those clients. It is definitely an awkward thought and we hope that it never happens. But are you ready of it happens?

I mentioned this because it actually happened to me. A few years ago, my biggest modeling client, whose work covered the bulk of my annual income, changed and they left. All the people associated with them also left. It just happened overnight! The makeup and hair artists, the photographers, the models and the ad agency, everyone left. I was just like a fish out of water gasping for air as I have completely taken their business for granted.

You should never do what I did. Be sure you keep feeding your sales funnel to ensure a consistent stream of business.

Just say no to dry spells and yes to business spells. Here are some ideas for you to get started.

• Reach out to the clients on a daily basis, regardless how busy you are.

Day in and day out, be sure to contact completely new clients and introduce yourself to them and offer your services. No matter you do it personally, email, through telephone or by recommendation, keep on reaching out to new clients.

• Make your daily to do list of action!

No matter it is expanding and enhancing your skills, enhancing your online presence, actively reaching out to new and current clients, or just contouring and organizing your business trends, when you keep on taking action to enhance yourself and your marketing endeavors, you will notice striking results.
