Well then, let us begin shall we. The date is June 5th, 2021. Hello and welcome. Strap in, its going to be a bumpy ride, well at least I hope not too bumpy. So vaccinations are up, new cases are down, the Middle East is on fire again (figuratively of course), the government has released information regarding UFO's and no one seems to know just how or why Elon Musk keeps tanking the crypto market. North Korea has banned skinny jeans and I just think that is too funny. What a time to be alive! Gas and lumber prices have somehow shoved a rocket up each others ass and lit the fuse. Its not all doom and gloom though, the Lakers got knocked out of the playoffs by the Suns, so there's that. It is a time to be hopeful, all kidding aside, more businesses are opening up and people are starting to gather. This summer looks like its going to be a wild one, hell this decade is shaping up to be a crazy one. I feel optimistic for the future. Why I feel this way, I honestly could not say. Did not mean for that to rhyme, thanks for sharing your time!(o.k. I'll stop)
There is still a long road before us but I believe the human race is up for the challenge. If I have learned anything by being on this planet for going on forty years now, it is to never underestimate the power of stupid people in a group. Wait, no that's not it. Watch out where those huskies go, do not eat that yellow snow. Good advice but not what I was looking for. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Yeah, we will go with that one. If something is worth putting energy and time into, it should be done the proper way, with no short cuts or compromises. At least that is how I interpreted that saying. We humans seem to thrive on challenge and difficulty. Give us a problem to solve and we will probably argue with each other for a while, even throw an insult or mom diss here or there, but eventually we will learn how to co-operate and get the job done. It just takes time and a thick skin, especially when it comes to one's mother.
It is easy to lose oneself thinking about the future, one should not lose focus of the present however. There are still plenty of problems to be worried about that plague the now; homelessness, poverty, racism, injustice, war, pollution, covid-19 (obviously), cyber attacks on infrastructure, the list is ever encompassing and dizzyingly overwhelming. We as a species cannot survive so divided and entrenched. It is essential that we come together as one people and tackle these problems head on. Then we can focus on the important things like cleaning this planet up and then exploring the far outer reaches of the solar system, galaxy and beyond. I have hope for the future. Breakthroughs in science and technologies are happening seemingly on a daily basis. Who knows what we will be capable of doing in the next five, ten, or even fifty years from now? We might just have a colony on the moon or even Mars!
No one person can truly know what is in store for us here on this lonely rock, flying through space around the hot central star we call the sun. We may just be visited by little green aliens one day, to then be completely vaporized in a single hour. Or we might blow ourselves up over some dispute regarding lines on a map. One thing is for certain and that is I for one, am hopeful. That may not be much in the great scheme of things but at least it is a start.
