As Kenya sipped her mocha decaf cappuccino at the Starbucks near the motionless traffic, she could remember it like yesterday when she first laid eyes on her soon to be husband...Jake. "Hi Mrs. Love, I'm Mariana the wedding planner" said a beautiful young woman with the most amazing eyes. Kenya wasn't used to being called "Mrs. Love" so the greeting was off guard towards her but she gave Mariana a hug then went right into business by asking "Can you make sure we have these daisies" pointing to the flower box outside the window of her table. Mariana wrote it down with no hesitations. "Mrs. Love I know we talked for about two hours but I need to ask" Mariana said with a face of confusion. "Does Mr. Love have any guest of his own for his side of the wedding? I know you said you wanted something small just about 75 people tops, but you didn't mention any of Mr. Love's guests". Kenya dreaded her question but knew it was coming, but as she opened her mouth Jake walked in with their 9 month old daughter Jacky.
After about a 1 hour in the Starbucks discussing the soon to be wedding of the century, Mariana walked to her car quickly so she can call her father. "Papi! Guess what!" said Mariana. "Are you ok darling?" asked Mariana's father. "Papi! Papi! Do you remember that jerk from 2 years ago that hit my car and give me his wrong information...Well I'm handling his wedding" said Mariana. "What are going to do Mariana? Did he notice you or anything?" asked her father. "No Papi I didn't even really speak to him he just sat there and said whatever my wife wants she will get" Mariana said mimicking the words Jake said during the meeting. Mariana's father wasn't too interested so he quickly rushed her off the phone and said "Mariana this guy is no good but I got to go, be home before dinner" then hung up. Mariana was so frustrated that she started to work on her wedding planning list early. She found out all the credit cards Mrs. Love gave her was in her name. "Kenya D. Louis" she said out loud. "Umm let me see what I can find" she said as she googled Kenya's name.
"She was nice right honey?" asked Kenya. "Yeah she was, but she seemed familiar" said Jake. "Well L.A is known to bump into someone ya know" Kenya said. "Well that's true, but honey seriously I need to tell you something about my past and why I don't have any guest coming to the wedding" Jake replied. Kenya was surprised he was actually about to tell her about his past, which she wanted to know for months now. Jake and Kenya meet right after Jake bumped in to Mariana at a local gas station down the street. Kenya always was too into herself so after 1 year of dating and Jake proposal she finally started asking about his own life. When Jake got a big deal out of nowhere from a firm which he lied on the application to get, Kenya started to miss her birth control pills so that's how little Jacky came in the picture, but Jake knew it was part of the game. Jake knew he was getting to deep into trouble once he proposed and had a child. He knew what's done in the dark comes to the lights. When he saw Mariana's face he knew she was someone from the past just couldn't put his finger on when, where, or even how they met.
Kenya was in mid thought when Jake said "Honey, I'm in deep shit!" she didn't know what to expect he'll say. Kenya looked back at little Jacky who was knocked out in the backseat. Kenya finally found her words and asked "Does it have to do with the wedding because my dad well pay for everything its fine honey." Jake stopped the car alongside the drive way of their house. "I don't think I'm the one you want to marry. I don't have any family members or friends because I lied and became someone I don't even know. I'm not someone you want to show your family off too. I can't go onto god as a fake and liar." cried Jake. Kenya was lost for words. She honestly changed because of Jake he bought out the soft and unselfish side of Kenya. She always felt guilty for trapping a child on Jake, but he showed her that he was the best dad because he didn't have his own. But right now she was lost and felt her heart breaking into pieces literally in the seat of her lap.
