Everyone knows that growing up isn’t easy it’s like the older you get the more frustrating things become especially for a female. You always have to keep up with the latest trends, hairstyles ect. You have to worry about fitting in, which is not that easy because we aren’t exactly the best people to get along with. However, boys or men have it just as hard as females, like being at the wrong place at the wrong time or hanging around the wrong crowd. One girl by the name of Briana and a boy by the name of chris, both had to learn that sometimes it’s easier to mind your own business and stay in your lane.
Brianna grew up in the city of Philadelphia on 23rd and diamond, she lived with her older sister Monique in a little apartment with two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen and living room. When she was only 12 years old her mom passed away in a tragic car accident. She never even knew her dad which made her and her sister’s relationship all the more closer. Briana is now 17 and sometimes she can be a handful. When you're at that age you start to look at yourself as an adult and no one can tell you different. Briana was sitting on her front step watching her neighbor's kids play jump rope and football across the street. Briana’s door was wide open and she could hear her sister pacing back and forth across the living room floor behind her as she got ready for work. Briana laughed to herself and shook her head as if she was amused by the movement behind her. All of sudden, Monique dashed out the front door and stopped in front of Briana as she waited for confirmation on whether or not she looked okay. Briana looked her up and down for a minute and thought about what she was going to say. Briana was jealous of her sister in a way. Monique was 6’1, curvy body, with big breast and a nice size booty. She had long curly hair, brown eyes and a mole on the right side of her mouth just above her top lip. She had braces when she was younger so her teeth were straight and pearly white. Briana on the other hand was the exact opposite of her sister. She was 5’6, skinny with small breast, her butt was a lot smaller than her sister’s and she had short hair. She too had brown eyes to match her skin complexion and her teeth were white but they weren’t straight. “Well, come on I don’t have all day!” said Monique starting to feel annoyed. Briana gave a little chuckle and gave Monique one last look. “You look cute.” Briana said still giving a little smirk. “What do you mean i’m cute, i’m suppose to look better than just cute.” Monique was wearing a R.I.P Tammy shirt she had spray painted. Tammy was her best friend who passed away a little over a year ago after her boyfriend beat her to the death because he said if he couldn’t have her no one else could. Monique wore tan lucky seven jeans, her black platform shoes and a white sweater hanging just a little over her shoulder . “How good do you wanna look, your only going to work?” asked Briana while looking confused. Monique worked at a hospital as an RN at Temple, and she loves what she does. “I’m trying to look the shit. You know my boo is gonna be there today!” Monique said with excitement. Now even though Monique says it’s her “boo”, it was just someone she seemed to have a crush on since he has been working there and hopes to be her boo. Briana stared at her sister with a confused look on her face as the sun beamed on Monique’s caramel complexion and long black hair. The look Briana gave showed monique that she didn’t really care what Monique looked like. “If you care so much about your appearance just go look in a mirror.” said Brianna. “A mirror can’t give me opinions like you can don’t you think so?”Monique asked sarcastically as she raised her left eyebrow and put one hand on her hip. Briana rolled her eyes and continued to watch the kids who were playing across the street. Monique sucked her teeth and stormed down the street, but before she hit the corner she yelled, “I’ll be home at 7:30!” Briana dropped out of school when she was 16, and since Monique was so busy with work she never really had the time to enforce any laws. As Briana sat on the steps with nothing to do, she noticed a moving truck parked on the end of the block in front of a house that had been up for rent for the past 2 years. “Ugh, new neighbor’s,” Briana thought to herself. She quickly changed her attitude when she saw a boy no older than 19 years old come out of the moving truck and looked down the street. He saw Briana and gave a grin and a nod toward her. Briana who was no longer amused or curious about who was moving in the corner house quickly got up and went inside shutting the door behind her. Her sister wasn’t home so Briana decided to go back to sleep. She ran up the stairs and climbed back into bed feeling relaxed and relieved. After about an hour into Briana’s sleep she was awakened by a knock at her door. Briana got out of bed with her eyes barely open and a slight attitude to go see who it was. She knew it couldn’t be her sister because she had the key, plus she wouldn’t be home until 7:30. Briana looked into the peep hole of her door and saw that it was the boy who just moved in down the street. Briana quickly looked in the mirror that was hanging up on the wall beside her. She wiped the crust out the corner of her eyes and fixed her hair in a proper ponytail. She waited at least 5 seconds to open the door and pretended to not know who he was. When she opened the door there was a handsome black man standing in front of her with a gorgeous smile that could melt any girl's heart. He was a smooth brown skin with not one acne problem as if he didn’t hit puberty yet. He was about 5’9 with dark hair freshly cut. His sideburns were shaped up nice and he had a little chin hair. His eyes were a light brown and he was wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a big red horse on the right side of his shirt. He had on army pants with a black and red gucci belt to hold them up. His sneakers were the red and black jordans that just came out a month ago. “How you doin?” he asked with the biggest smile on his face. “Hi, can I help you?” asked Briana trying hard not to smile back. “Actually you can, I just moved in down the street on the corner and I was hoping you could tell me where I could find a store that sells cleaning supplies.” Briana gave a little laugh and gave him a certain look that eventually made him laugh. “That’s not why you came down here is it?” she asked suspiciously. He laughed and put his head down trying not to look her in the eye as if he’s just commited a crime. “No, it’s not why I came over.” he laughed. “Yeah that’s what I thought. So are you gonna tell me the real reason you came knocking on my door?” she asked folding her arms across her chest and waiting for a real answer. “Okay look, the real reason I came over is because I saw you sitting on the steps earlier and I liked what I saw. So I figured I’d come over and introduce myself.” “That’s nice, but why wait until now to introduce yourself?” She asked annoyed but flattered at the same time. Just as he was about to answer the question though, a loud screech followed by a bang came from a car just a few houses down. Briana looked and saw one of the neighbor’s little boy’s stretched out in the middle of the street. “Someone help me please!” a woman yelled out at the top of her lungs. Briana instantly rushed out the door and over to the little boy stretched out on the ground. When she got there she saw the little boy covered in blood. Briana gently lifts the little boy up from off of the ground and takes him on the pavement. “Did anyone call 911?” Briana heard someone shout from the crowd. A woman in a bright red shirt and denim jeans, looked like she was in her early 30’s came through the crowd and dropped to the ground with tears rushing down her face. Briana was guessing she was the mother. Even though Briana lived on the block she really didn’t actually talk to anyone. About five minutes passed and Briana was trying to stop the little boy from bleeding. She couldn’t really tell if he was breathing or not but she hoped that he was. All of a sudden everyone hears the ambulance speeding down the street. They came to a halt quickly jumped out and started running toward Briana. They snatched the little boy from her hands and ran to put him in the ambulance. The little boy’s mother thanked Briana repeatedly as she got into the truck with her son and they drove off to the hospital. When the truck and the sirens faded away altogether so did the chattering of the people. Briana was covered in blood so she rushed over to her house and up the stairs to change her clothes. It was about 15 minutes after she was finished and made her way back downstairs only to see that boy still sitting on the steps. She completely forgot that she was talking to him, and on top of that she left her front door open. Feeling annoyed with herself Briana left him on the steps and went into the kitchen to get herself something to drink. She took her glass of orange juice off the counter and went outside to sit beside him. He looked at her but stayed silent until she sat down, and made conversation. “Chris.” he said with an unsure smile on his face. “What?” She asked looking confused. “That’s my name.” he said. Briana nodded her head as if she was paying any mind to him, but the truth was all that just happened she could care less about what his name was. She kept thinking about that little boy and if he was okay. She kept replaying the incident over in her head, all she could see was the blood running out of the little boy’s head and onto her shirt. It soon grew quiet all over again, and yet again Chris had to start the conversation. “So, are you going to tell me your name?” he asked hopefully. “Briana” she answered. He repeated her name as if trying to remember it. He then held out his hand for a proper greeting only to get ignored. He put his hand down disappointed that he had received the cold shoulder. “Listen, I don’t mean to be rude, but as you can see i’m not really in the right state of mind right now.” “No problem, I understand.” he said with sympathy and concern in his voice. All of a sudden they both noticed family members across the street, sobbing and weeping. “Hold on for a sec.” She said as she started to get up and head down the block. She asked the family about the little boy only to get her heart ripped out with disappointment. She slowly went back across the street with her head hanging low. Chris saw by the look on her face that she did not receive good news. “What happened?” he asked as his eyes widened with compassion. “He didn’t make it.” she said as a tear fell down her face. Chris grew silent as if speechless by the news. “Damn that’s messed up, were you close with him?” Briana shook her head no. “I didn’t know him.” she said. Chris looked confused. “Then, I don’t understand why are you so heartbroken about him?” “Because he was a neighbor and only 5 years old!” she yelled furiously. “Okay, calm down I didn’t mean to upset you more than you already are.” “Look whatever i'm going in the house.” Briana stormed in the house slamming the door behind her. She went in her room and turned on the t.v. She laid back down and couldn’t help but feel bad about how she treated Chris. She got up out of bed slipped her shoes back on and walked down the street to Chris’s house. When she reached the door she was very hesitant about knocking. When she finally builded up the courage to knock she did it lightly and was hoping he didn’t hear it.Her luck soon ran out when she heard his doorknob turn and the the door swing open. Briana could tell by look on his face that he was not pleased with her presence. Whether he was smiling or not Briana still found him very attractive. “What’s up?” he asked. “Look i’m sorry about how i acted earlier.” “It’s cool i’m not even worried about it.” “No it’s not cool, I was so stressed out about what was going on I just snapped but it shouldn’t have been on you.” Chris looked at her carefully and then gave a smirk. “It’s cool don’t sweat it.”he replied. Brianna started to calm down and feel a little at ease with the situation. “So, can I come in?” she asked hopefully. Chris opened the door just enough so she could fit inside. She went into the house and saw that Chris had a lot of nice things. She thought to herself that there was no way he could afford half the things in his house. As she started to look around she noticed little things were expensive like the vases or china plates he had peeking out the boxes. Then she noticed the big things like surround systems and flat screen tv's. “Nice place.” She said still admiring. “Thanks, excuse the place for being a mess right now though I haven’t really cleaned it up yet .” “That’s because you were so focused on trying to meet me.” Briana said laughing. He gave a smile and shook his head. “So what made you want to come in, I mean you don’t even know me?” “Well you don’t know me either but you welcomed me in.” “That’s because you’re a female.” “So what’s that supposed to mean?” Briana asked even though she knew the answer. He walked over to her and sat on the couch. “It means that no man is gonna turn down a female that wants to come into their house, especially if their pretty.” Briana began to get comfortable as she sat down on the couch beside Chris. They both looked at each other and gave a quick pause. “So what’s up, you gonna give me your number.” He asked pulling out his phone and moving closer to her. Brianna took it out of his hand and programmed her number into it. When he got it back he threw his phone onto the table in the middle of the living room and leaned back on the couch. Briana put her hand on her head and shook it slowly and gave a little grin. “What?” he asked looking confused. “Nothing, I just find you very attractive that’s all.” “Oh” he said nodding his head. It soon grew silent and Briana was getting bored. She got up off of the couch to let Chris know that she was about to leave. “Okay so i’m gonna go.” “Why are you leaving?” he asked. Briana tried to quickly think of something other than she was growing bored. “Umm, I realized I have something I need to do.” “Yeah, what’s that?” “Damn do I ask you everything I want to know about you?” “I don’t know do you?” he asked teasing. He got up off of the couch and followed her to the door. “Look, call me later okay.” “I got you shorty.” he said laughing.
About 2 months passed and Chris and Briana started dating. They were inseparable in a way that no one else understood. However, Briana started to do things that she wouldn’t normally do. With Monique being so busy with work she doesn’t really have time to pay attention to Briana. That just gave her more freedom and advantages to do whatever she wanted. Briana and Chris were around the corner at a friend’s house when all of a sudden a dark red Cadillac with tinted windows pulled up in the front of them. Brianna grew nervous and looked away. The passenger window rolled down slowly and a dark skinned man with dreads appeared. “Come here” he said with anger as he pointed at Chris. Chris walked over to the car with his hands in his pockets. When he reached the car, the driver's seat rolled down. He had on a hoodie and looked straight ahead the whole time so Brianna couldn’t really see his face. What she did know was that whoever was in that car did not talk to Chris like they were the best of friends. Briana started to grow concerned that Chris was into something she didn’t know anything about. When he was finished talking, Chris departed from the car and walked back over to Briana. He gave a fake smile that wasn’t very misleading at all. “What happened?” she asked with a little unsureness in her voice. “Nothing, i’m cool.” he said still giving that fake smile that was starting to get annoying. “Chris I know I have only known you for a few months, but I think I know when your cool and right now, you're not. So just tell me what’s going on.” “I just owe somebody some money, that’s all.” he answered shrugging his shoulders. She rolled her eyes feeling upset that this was the first time hearing about this. “Are you involved in some kind of trouble. You know you can tell me anything and everything.” “Babe I know, but trust me let it go, it has nothing to do with you.” “But baby I-.” “Look I said mind your damn business alright!” Fury filled Chris’s eyes and that was when Briana knew she should drop the conversation. “Look I’m sorry.” she said trying to get back on his good side. “It’s cool, let’s just go to my crib.” he insisted. Brianna did as she was told and began walking down the street. When they reached Chris’s house she noticed Chris was looking around as if he was trying to find someone, or avoid them. When they got in the house and upstairs into Chris’s bedroom. Briana plopped down on the bed and kicked off her shoes to make herself more comfortable. Chris threw his phone on the dresser and went into the bathroom. Briana noticed the phone and waited until she heard the bathroom door close and the shower water running to retrieve it. She searched through the phone and saw that there was a new voicemail. She entered the passcode and listened to the message. She listened to it carefully as she heard that if Chris didn’t pay 1,000 dollars by next week he wouldn’t be able to walk the streets safely ever again. She tried to listen to more of the message but was soon interrupted. “Didn’t I tell your ass to mind your business?” Briana jumped up startled. “You lied to me Chris, you told me that it was nothing major.” “It’s not because it doesn’t concern you, Damn why do you have to be so nosey?” he asked. “Because i care about you and if i can help with something then i will.” she answered. “Look i can take care of myself alright so just leave it alone.” He walked over to the bed and sat down. “ So your just not gonna talk to me about this? 1,000 dollars is a lot of money Chris.” He looked up at her with confusion and fury, and right then and there Briana knew that she had said something wrong. He stood up and started to walk toward her. She became scared and backed away slowly bumping into the dresser behind her. “How do you know how much i owe?” He asked. Briana tried to change the subject. “Look if you need money Chris i can help you, i mean that’s what i’m here for right, to be there for you when you need me?” “What part are you not understanding? I don’t need any help okay, all i need from you is to just stand beside me and look pretty.” He grabbed her face and tried to lean in for a kiss only to get rejected as she turned her face away from his. “Oh so your gonna be like that?” He asked backing away. “So basically what you’re saying is that i’m only good for appearance with you?” She asked. “Beauty and brains, you’re gonna be just fine.” he answered sarcastically. Briana rolled her eyes. “You know what, fuck you alright, if you don’t want any help then fine i won’t help you but what i won’t do is be a trophy girl so i’m leaving.” She quickly headed for the door only to get stopped by Chris grabbing her by the arm and started to tighten the grip. “Your not going anywhere.” “Chris your hurting me, let go.” “Look i said your not going anywhere alright so sit down!” he shouted with anger. He yanked her arm as hard as he could and let go causing her to hit her head on the edge of the dresser on the way down. Tears ran down Briana's cheeks along with blood trickling from her head and unto the carpet but Chris didn’t seem to care. He grabbed Briana by her hair and dragged her to the middle of his floor. “Stop Chris, what are you doing?” she yelled at the top of her lungs. “Shut up, you dumb bitch I told you to mind your business!” he yelled. With his right hand he punched her in the face causing her to yell even louder. He repeatedly struck her with his right hand until she was gushing blood from her nose. Her mouth and her face started to swell up but Briana soon grew the strength to break free and ran toward the door, downstairs and out the front. Luckily no one was outside to see her run for her life and into the house. She dashed up the stairs and into the bathroom to clean herself up. As she looked into the mirror and saw her face she blamed herself for not listening when had told her to just mind her business. Briana began to bawl even more as she used a rag to clean her face. When she was finished she went into her room and sat at the edge of the bed. Briana didn’t bother to turn on anything due to the fact that she had a headache and noise would just make it worse. She leaned back to lye down on the bed. She did it gently because the soreness from the back of her head started to grow. She stared at the t.v until she fell asleep. About 2 hours went by and Briana started to feel a little sick. It felt like she was about to hurl so she raced to the bathroom. As soon as she got to the toilet, out came the vomit. After she was finished letting out everything she layed on the bathroom floor to weak to get up. All of a sudden she heard the door downstairs slam shut. Monique ran up the steps only to see Briana lying on the floor. She dropped everything she had in her hands and raced to the bathroom. “OH MY GOD, Briana what the hell happened?” Briana just lie there not being able to see anything but blurred vision of her sister. Monique ran to grab her cell phone and called the ambulance. “Please stay with me!” she yelled to Brianna hanging up with the police while still in tears. When the ambulance reached the house they took Brianna downstairs and into the truck with Monique following behind. By that time everyone was outside looking at the house and wondering what the hell was going on. When the ambulance reached the hospital Monique was asked to wait in the waiting room until further notice.
Two hour went by and finally a doctor came over to Monique some news that she was not expecting to receive. The doctor told Monique that she could see Brianna but only for an hour because she needed her rest. When she reached the room her eyes glistened in the hospital light as she started to cry, seeing Brianna lay on a hospital bed. When Brianna saw her sister enter the room she gave a weak smile that wasn’t at all convincing to Monique. “Hey, how are you?” asked Monique. “I’ll be fine.” Brianna replied. It grew silent but Brianna saw that there was something on Monique's mind. “What’s wrong?” asked Brianna as she sat up straight. Monique looked away because she didn’t want to look Brianna in the face. “Brianna did you know that you were pregnant?” Brianna looked both confused and shocked at the same time. At first she didn’t say anything but then she did. “What do you mean i’m pregnant, that can’t be right.” “Yeah I agree because I don’t recall you ever having a boyfriend, let alone you being sexually active!” Monique raised her voice angrily and finally turning to face Brianna. “Me having a boyfriend and having sex has nothing to do with you!” This time she raised her voice only higher. “Excuse me but you living in my house, makes it my business!” “I don’t have to live with you. I barely even need you, I can go live with my boyfriend!” “Oh what, so he can beat your ass again, I don’t think so. You're still 17 sweetheart and until you’re 18 you live with me understand.” “How do you know he beat me, you don’t even know him.” “You’re right I don’t know him but i’m not dumb either okay.” Brianna folded her arms and looked away. “Mmm you could’ve fooled me.” “What did you just say?” asked Monique in a demanding tone. “Nothing, look I don’t feel good can you just leave please.” Monique left from the room without hesitation. Brianna leaned back into her hospital bed and stared at the ceiling as she thought about how she was going to tell Chris when she got out of the hospital. She was interrupted by a man and a women dressed in black suits, and black gunson their waste. “Are you Brianna?” the man asked as if he didn’t already know. “Yes, and who are you?” “My name is detective Rodriguez and this is detective Mcdonald.” Brianna’s heart jumped out of her chest and into her stomach. “Detectives, for what?” Brianna said hesitantly. Detective Rodriguez walked closer to Brianna. He was a stocky man with a little gray hair growing on his head and chin. His face was filled with freckles and his eyes were gray with a dash of green. Judging by the bags under his eyes he looked as though he hadn’t had sleep in weeks. “Brianna we understand that earlier you were brutally attacked by someone, we also see that you are two months pregnant.” This time Brianna’s heart fell to the floor. Just thinking about the fact that Brianna would be a mother in 7 months, sends chills down her spine. “Ms. Jones, were you aware that you were pregnant?” Being called Ms. Jones brought back memories for Brianna, like when her mother was still alive. It reminded her of when she and her mother would go to the mall and the kids would love to say hi to her because they thought she was cool. Brianna was pulled out of her daze by the woman still waiting for an answer. This time the detective was closer and a little more in her face. She was a black woman with short hair. She was a little fit but had a masculine look. Her jaw line was a little strong and her eyes were brown, not forgetting that her nose was a little pointy. Brianna wished she wasn’t so close to her because the stench of her perfume was too strong to inhale all at once. “Ms. Jones, my detective is talking to you.” Brianna gained focus again as she gave her attention to detective Mcdonald. “I’m sorry, what was the question?” Brianna asked. “Ms. Jones this is no joking matter.” detective Rodriguez exclaimed with frustration. “No one is laughing detectives. Do you really think I would joke when my face looks like this.” Brianna began to remember how her face had gotten like that in the first place. She wondered if Chris knew that she was in the hospital. Brianna wanted to cry, but she fought back her tears. “Ms. Jones do you know who did this to you?” asked Rodriguez. Brianna was about to answer her question but something seemed to have taken her speech away, and not in a good way. In comes Chris pretending to feel concerned. “Babe what happened, you alright?” he gave her little peck on the cheek and a tight hug. he noticed the detectives in the room and gave them a quick stare down. “Who the hell are you?” Chris asked feeling irritated. “We’re detectives here to talk to Brianna about her attack.” answered Rodriguez. Brianna looked at Chris’s face and saw that his heart was on the floor with hers. “Who are you ?” asked Mcdonald with an attitude. “I’m her boyfriend.” Chris answered back. Both of the detectives looked at each other as if they were suspicious about something. “What’s your name son?” Rodriguez asked as he put his hands in his pockets. “Troy, Troy Green.” he answered without hesitation. Brianna looked at Chris shocked that he had lied to the police. However the detectives hadn’t noticed anything peculiar. “Troy are you aware that Brianna is 2 months pregnant?” asked Mcdonald. “Of course I know, that’s why I rushed over here.” “Okay well, it looks like we’re done here. Ms. Jones if you decide you want to talk give us a call okay.” said Mcdonald reaching into her pocket to give the card to Brianna but Chris immediately snatched it away quickly. “Thank you she’ll be calling you if she thinks of anything.” “Alright you two have a nice day, Brianna feel better okay.” “I will thank you detectives.” Brianna answered. As the police left the room Chris kept a smile on his face until he was sure they were gone, then his smile faded. “What the hell they mean you’re pregnant?” he asked raising his voice a little. Brianna grew scared but it soon faded as she realized he wouldn’t do anything inside of a hospital, or any public face for that matter. “Are you mad?” Brianna asked teasing at the fact that he couldn’t do anything to her. “You damn right i’m mad, i’m beyond that. I’m not ready for no fucking baby right now yo, are you serious right now?” “Well sorry to disappoint you, but I had a little help in getting into this situation. I didn’t get pregnant by myself.” Brianna grew angry and raised her voice a little. She loved the fact that she was in control right now. Chris started pacing the floor back and forth growing more nervous. “What did you tell the cops?” he asked still pacing. “I didn’t tell them anything.” said Brianna still thinking about their conversation before Chris barged in. “That’s good, that’s-.” “Yet.” Brianna said smiling in her head. “ What you mean yet?” “I mean, I don’t know if I should tell them the truth or not.” Chris stopped pacing the floor. “Of course you’re not gonna tell them the truth, what you want me to go to jail?” “Chris you beat me senseless all because I went through your phone.” “I know and i’m sorry for that. You know it won’t happen again right?” “I don’t think I believe you, I mean who’s to say you won’t do it again?” “Me!” “Yeah right like I’mma believe anything you say. You’re not the same person I met 2 months ago.” Come on don’t give me that bullshit. I’m still the same person.” “See that’s the shit i’m talkin about. You changed, you not the same anymore.” “How did I change Brianna, tell me what you talkin about?” “Chris when I first met you, you were so sweet and funny. Now all you think and care about are drugs and money. I don’t know maybe we just need a little time apart.” Brianna began to see a look on Chris’s face that gave her deep concern. “You not leaving me!” he yelled walking toward her. “Calm down, it’s not permanent. It’s just until I get myself together.” “You can get yourself together with me. I mean is that even my baby you carrying?” Brianna grew furious, she could not believe what Chris had just said. “What the fuck you mean is it your’s. I was a virgin when I met your ass!” “Well I don’t know that, you probably just trying to pin a baby on me.” “Oh please, if I wanted to pin a baby on a man you would be the last person on my list!” “What’s that’s supposed to mean bitch!” asked Chris getting even louder. “It means that if I wanted to go find a babyfather, it wouldn’t be someone who sell drugs and beat on women for a living.” “You was never complaining before, why all of a sudden you wanna say something now?” “Because I didn’t care at first, and it’s good I didn’t say anything. You probably would’ve beat me up.” “Look I told you it won’t happen again. I love you too much.” Brianna couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Did he really just say he loved her. “What did you just say?” she asked unbelievably in shock. Chris a gave a deep inhale and then a quick and slight exhale. “I said I love you Brianna and I know you love me too, don’t you?” “Honestly Chris I don’t know what I’m feeling right now.” “What you mean you don’t know, since when are all of your feelings mixed up?” “Oh I don’t know, since I woke up in a hospital bed a couple hours ago!” she yelled at him. “Look if you’re gonna keep bringing that up then I’m leaving. Let’s see how you see how you make out raising a baby by yourself.” “Oh what, so now you’re not gonna take care of your kid all because you’re mad. You know what maybe you should leave. Don’t call me, don’t text me and don’t even bother knocking on my door.” “Whatever, you start actin up yo for real.” “Am I Chris, I’m laying in a hospital bed all because of your damage. Not to mention I have detectives up my ass asking me questions and trying to figure out how I got into the situation I’m in. I’m protecting your ass and for what, so you can question me about who my baby’s father is, knowing damn well you know it’s you. On top of that, you telling me that you’re not taking care of my baby. Well you know what Chris, fuck you and you can get the hell out of my life!” All this arguing started to give Brianna stomach pains. She clutched her stomach tight to give Chris a sign that he should leave the room. “Imma go, call me when you calm down okay.” Chris said silently. He left the room quietly as if nothing happened. Brianna laid down still holding her stomach tight, she had no intentions of calling Chris anytime soon. She stared up at the ceiling for a second time and thought to herself, how did she get here. How did this all start. As she processed the situation more and more, tears began to fall down her face. Brianna just couldn’t wait until it was time for her to go home. She thought of her warm bed sitting there empty with no one in it. She thought, how could she have been so stupid. Brianna promised herself that she would never be in a situation that her mother was. When Brianna was younger, her mother use to have numerous boyfriends and they weren’t exactly what you called family friendly. There was one man she never forgot though. A man named Bert who use to yell and scream at her mom, and beat her until he felt as though he wanted to stop. One night Brianna’s mom and Bert went out to eat and got into an argument. Bert became so out of control that he grabbed the wheel while her mom was still driving. The car crashed into a minivan causing it to flip over and they both died on impact. That was the last time Brianna ever got to see her mother again. Both Brianna and Monique promised themselves that they would be in greater and more about something than their mother was. It made Brianna mad because she had broken that promise. She is in the same situation that her mother was in. Brianna fell asleep and didn’t wake up until the next morning. It sort of annoyed her that not one nurse came to see about her even after the arguments but she decided to let it go. A nurse walked into the room to say goodmorning to Brianna and brung her breakfast. She had pancakes, eggs, bacon and a glass of orange juice. Brianna hadn’t had a nice cooked meal in a long time. She hadn’t really liked cooking since her mom passed away. Even though her older sister cooked sometimes, she really didn’t have time to cook being so busy with her work. The nurse walked out of the room and Brianna ate her food. While she was eating, Monique walked in but not excited to be there. “Hey!” said Brianna breaking the ice first. “Hey, you ready to go?” asked Monique sitting in the chair. “Yeah just let me finish my breakfast.” Brianna scoffed down her breakfast in less than a minute. “Okay i'm ready.” Brianna said getting out of bed. She put on her clothes and she and her sister left out and went home.
Chapter 2
CHAPTER 2
A week went by and Brianna had kept her promise. She hadn’t heard from Chris since she been back from the hospital, she didn’t even know if he was alive. But who who cared she thought, he didn’t care when he put her in the hospital. Still she couldn’t help but think if he was okay. She decided to wait until monique went to work to go to Chris’s house. Until then she sat in the living room and watched videos, music seemed to calm her down. She saw Monique come downstairs and go straight into the kitchen. Monique really hadn’t spoken to Brianna since she came home from the hospital. She just said little things to her like, asking her where beauty supplies were or if a shirt looked cute on her. Even when Monique came home from work, she would just go upstairs, close her door and didn’t come out unless it was to use the bathroom or get something to eat. Monique came out of the kitchen with an apple in one hand and her car keys in the other. She waved bye to Brianna as she left the house. Brianna raced upstairs grabbed her keys and left the house. She peeked out the door to see if Monique was clear out of sight. When the coast was clear, Brianna ran down the street and banged on Chris’s door. There was no answer, so Brianna banged harder. There was still no answer so Brianna twisted the doorknob and the door flew open. “Chris!” Brianna yelled. She seemed to think he wasn’t there but just to be sure, she went upstairs to check his bedroom. His door was cracked and for a second Brianna’s heart stopped. She swung open the door scaring the mess out of both him and the red headed female. “Chris who the fuck is this?” Brianna asked walking into the room. The girl jumped out of bed, trying to grab her clothes off of the floor. “Where you think you going!” Brianna yelled. She charged at the girl grabbing her hair and bringing her down to the floor. Brianna began to pound the girl’s face and kick her in the stomach. “Yo chill, what you doing?” Brianna ignored Chris’s remark and continued beating on the girl. The girl got up from the floor and Brianna grabbed her throwing her against Chris’s dresser causing things to fall and glass to break. Chris got a hold of Brianna picking her up off her feet and throwing her to the bed. The girl ran out of the room and out of the house. Chris let go of Brianna and she immediately started swinging on him. Chris just stood there trying not to hit her back due to the fact that she was pregnant. Brianna finally stopped hitting Chris and started to yell at him. “Chris what was she doing here!” she asked as tears fell down her face. “I’m sorry, but I wasn’t getting none from you so what was I supposed to do!” Chris yelled back. “You don’t go sleeping with another bitch!” “We ain’t even do anything yet!” “Oh but you were if I hadn’t barged in!” “I love Bri.” Chris said grabbing her hand. “Don’t touch me, you don’t love me. Beating on me, cheating on me, that’s what you call love?” Brianna began to feel light headed and she needed to sit down. Before she knew it, Brianna dropped to the floor and fainted.
A couple hours went by and Brianna woke up in Chris’s bed. She saw Chris picking up the glass from the fight. “What happened?” she asked holding her head. “You passed out, so I lied you down in my bed.” “Thanks, but this doesn’t get you off the hook.” “I know it doesn’t.” he answered. Brianna grew silent and began playing with her nails. “Chris can I ask you a question?” “What’s up?” “How many females have you slept with since we’ve been apart?” Chris gave a nervous look and then stopped picking up the glass. “What?” he asked. “Don’t act like you didn’t hear me.” she said. “Is this really necessary?” “Yes.” “Why?” “Because I wanna know where your love is really at for me.” “You should already know where my love is for you.” “Chris just answer the question.” Brianna said getting annoyed. Chris sighed deeply and dropped his head down, then he looked at Brianna. “I don’t know, like eight maybe nine females.” Brianna felt her heart get ripped out of her chest. She shook her head slowly and started to cry. “You don’t love me Chris.” “Come on, man with this shit again.” “Nine females Chris, that’s nasty.” “Look you wanted to know the truth right. If you knew you was gonna cry and act like that, you shouldn’t have asked for the truth.” Brianna was heartbroken, Chris had no remorse for what he did. “Yeah, you’re right I shouldn’t have asked for the truth. But now that I know the truth, I’m leaving.” Brianna got off the bed and headed for the door. “Brianna wait!” Chris shouted. “No Chris, you said what you had to say now I’m gone.” “Just wait, let me say something.” He grabbed Brianna by the arm and led her back into the room. “I know I made a lot of mistakes with you. But if you give me another chance, I promise I’mma do better.” Brianna looked into Chris’s eyes and for the first time, she saw some sympathy for her. Maybe he was actually telling the truth meant what he said she thought. “Alright I’ll give you one more chance, but if you mess up this time that’s it.” “Man, you know you not leaving me.” he said as he pulled her closer to him and gave her a kiss on lips. Brianna smiled and felt safe in his arms, something she hadn’t felt with him in a long time. When he stopped kissing her, he looked into her eyes and they both smiled. “I love you.” he said in a low voice. Brianna just melted, this was the Chris that Brianna knew. The Chris that knocked on her door 2 ½ months ago to introduce himself. The Chris that she planned on being with for the rest of her life. “I love you too.” She said as she leaned in to kiss him some more. Brianna woke up in Chris’s bed once more, but this time he was laying right beside her. She checked the time on her phone and saw that it was 7:15, which meant her sister would be home in 15 minutes. Brianna quickly put her clothes back on and gave Chris a kiss on the cheek as she left the house and went down the street into hers. She ran upstairs took a shower and put on her night clothes. She laid in her bed, turned on the t.v and pretended to be there all day. It was now 7:45 and Brianna heard Monique come in the door. Monique ran upstairs and barged into Brianna’s room without knocking. “Did you eat?” she asked. “Nope.” Brianna answered answered. Monique threw her a bag of food from Checkers and shut the door. “What no drink?” brianna yelled. “You should be lucky you got that!” Monique yelled back. As Brianna opened her food, she heard coming from her sister's room but it wasn’t her sister’s laugh. It was a guys laugh. “I guess she finally got her a boo.” Brianna said aloud as she laughed to herself. Brianna went back to her bed as she ate her food and watched television until she fell asleep. The next morning Brianna couldn’t believe what she was smelling. She got out of bed and went downstairs, only to see Monique cooking breakfast while wearing a long black T-shirt but because of Monique’s height it looked as if it could be hers. “Breakfast?” Brianna asked with an unsure look on her face. “Yup and the best part is, I don’t have to work today.” “Hmmm, so who’s the lucky guy?” Brianna asked stealing a piece of bacon off a plate. “His name is Trevor and he’s a nice guy.” “What does he look like?” Brianna asked. Just then a dark skin guy with dreads came running downstairs. Brianna dropped her bacon and felt sick instantly. It was the guy in the red cadillac who threatened to hurt Chris. When he reached the kitchen Brianna put her head down trying hard not to make eye contact. “Brianna this is Trevor, Trevor this is my little sister Brianna.” Brianna waved with her head still down. What’s up Brianna?” he asked. Brianna stayed silent and kept her head down. “Brianna don’t be ignorant, say hi and pick your head up.” Monique demanded, with her hands on her hips. Brianna lifted her head up and looked Trevor directly in his face. Trevor’s face expression changed immediately, but then he smiled. He didn’t say a word after that. Trevor thought to himself a minute, then he started acting strange. “Monique I gotta go.” “Why?” she asked looking disappointed. “Something came up.” he answered anxiously. Trevor looked at Brianna once more but this time with a creepy look. He sprinted out the house into his car and drove off. Brianna and Monique grew silent and looked at each other. “Well that was weird.” Brianna said stealing another piece of bacon. “Yeah no thanks to you.” “Me, how is it my fault?” “He probably thought you didn’t like him.” “Oh please I seriously doubt that’s the reason he left.” Just then, there was a knock at the door. Brianna got up to answer it. When she opened the door the red headed girl and 3 other females charged at Brianna and started swinging with no hesitation. Monique ran out of the kitchen jumping in the fight as she swung on all three girls. Brianna who was on the floor got back to her feet and started going toe to toe with the red head. Brianna doesn’t know how but they all managed to get outside and in the middle of the street. Brianna broke from the girl and ran over to help her sister who was fighting all three girls at once, surprisingly though Monique was winning. Every time Brianna tried to help Monique the red headed girl kept charging at her. It was no use, Brianna couldn’t seem to help Monique. The next thing everyone knew the cops pulled up and the whole block was outside. They all ignored the sirens and continued fighting. The police got out of the car and tried to break it up. Monique ran in the house and come back out with her hair tied up and sneakers on her feet. She handed Brianna sneakers and a hair tie. Brianna put on the sneakers and tied her head up. “What’s up now bitch!” Brianna yelled. The red headed girl ran through the cops as she and Brianna went at it again. Brianna threw her to the ground and started giving it to her. “Whip that bitch ass Bri!” Monique yelled. Monique grabbed one of the girls she was fighting and started upper cutting her. The police called for backup and more police cars filled the block, but it was too late. More girls came around ready to fight Brianna and Monique. Monique called their cousins and some of their friends. The next thing they knew it was an all out free fall in the street. Hair was all over the place some weave, some natural. Girls even came out of their sneakers and half their clothes. When the cops finally broke up the fight, that’s when the trash talking begin. “It’s not over bitch, I swear to god it’s not over!” the redhead yelled. “Come back if you want to, I know it’s not over!” Brianna yelled back. “That’s why I slept with your dude!” “No you didn’t, you just wanna hear yourself. Go ahead with yourself. You sound dumb, he told me what happened.” Brianna yelled. “I bet not catch you slippin, I’m telling you what’s coming to you yo.” the girl yelled as she pounded her fist in her hand and stomped her feet. “You will see me again but never slippin I’m always on guard trust me on that.” Brianna said laughing. The girl tried to charge at Brianna again but there were too many cops holding her back. “That’s why he beat your ass, next time stay in your lane bitch!” the girl said backing up. “Don’t worry about it mind your business.” The red headed girl and the rest of them walked off and went home. Brianna and Monique went in the house followed by her cousins. Brianna went upstairs to use the bathroom and check her face. The girl only made one scratch on the left side of her cheek. When she used the bathroom, something wasn’t right. There were globs of blood in the toilet. Brianna called Monique upstairs and Monique told her that they were going to the hospital. When they reached the hospital they were seen right away. When the doctor came back in the room, Brianna and Monique were holding hands as they waited to hear what was going on. “Ms. Jones I’m sorry, but you’ve had a miscarriage . Both Monique and Brianna’s eyes widened and they started to cry.
When Brianna got home she ran straight upstairs not noticing that her cousins were still there. “What’s wrong with ya’ll?” Patricia asked. Patricia was the oldest of the rest. She was 26 with sandy brown hair and hazel eyes. She was short, about 5’2 and thick. A lot of people said she looked like little kim. Surprisingly though, she did. Patricia was the coolest cousin the had but she also was the most serious, which is why Monique was so close to her. Monique went into the kitchen without answering anyone’s question. “Patricia can I talk to you for a second?” Monique called into the living room. Patricia got up and went into the kitchen. “What’s up?” Patricia asked. “Brianna lost her baby.” Patricia stood in shock with her mouth open. “Are you serious?” she asked whispering, making sure that no one could here. “Yeah she’s heart broken about it.” “Damn that’s crazy.” said Patricia. Patricia was the only one who knew about Brianna’s pregnancy. She was also the only one in the family to have a miscarriage herself. Monique was the only one who knew about it. She and Patricia talked about everything. “Could you talk to her please, I’ve been trying to talk to her since we left the hospital.” Monique asked as she sat in a chair.”Sure I’ll talk to her for you.” Patricia left the kitchen and went upstairs to Brianna room. Patricia knocked lightly but just enough that Brianna heard it. “Come in.” she said. Brianna was sitting on her bed scrolling through her phone. She didn’t know what she was looking at, but it seemed to calm her down and avoid everything. “Hey baby.” Patricia said as she entered the room. “Hey Patricia, what’s up?” Brianna asked trying not to make eye contact with her. “Your sister told me what happened.” “Yeah, I just bet she did.” “Aww don’t be mad at her, you know we tell each other everything. Anyway she asked me to come and talk to you.” “For what?” “Well because I know what you’re going through.” “Because when I was your age, I too had a miscarriage.” That seemed to get Brianna’s attention. “Really?” “Yeah, but no one ever knew about it, I was 2 weeks. Till this day no one still doesn’t know, only your sister.” “Wow, so what was it like. I mean how did you feel about it?” Brianna asked fascinated. “Ugh it was awful, I took it hard. The reason I took it so hard was because it was a planned pregnancy.” “So you mean, you wanted to have a baby?” Brianna asked. She was really engaged in Patricia’s story. “Of course I wanted to be pregnant. My boyfriend and I were madly in love. He asked me to have his baby and I told him I would.” “Damn, what happened?” Brianna asked curious. “One day he was walking from the store and someone mistook him for someone else. They rode up in the car and shot him 7 times. He died on his way to the hospital. I was so stressed out about how I was gonna take care of the baby, it seemed to be too much for me.” Brianna started to see Patricia’s eyes water as she told the story. Brianna started thinking about Chris, he was the reason Brianna had a miscarriage. If she hadn’t caught Chris cheating, she would never have beat that red headed bitch up then the redhead wouldn’t have retaliated and came knocking on their door, causing them to have a freefall in the middle of the street. Brianna also needed to figure out how she was going to Chris that they have lost their baby, even though it was his fault all of this happened. “Thanks Patricia, I really needed that right now.” “No problem.” Patricia got up and left Brianna’s room. Brianna quickly grabbed her phone to call Chris and tell him the bad news. “Yo.” he answered. Brianna hated the way he answered the phone. “Babe I got something I need to tell you.” “What’s up?” he asked. Brianna felt nervous, but she pulled up the courage to just come out and say it. “I had a miscarriage babe, I’m sorry.” At first Chris grew quiet. “So what, you lost the baby?” he asked. “Yes I’m so sorry.” “Sorry for what? Losing the baby was for the best. I told you I’m not ready for no damn baby.” Brianna thought Chris was a cold hearted bitch. How could he even say something like that. Sure the baby wasn’t planned but it was a part of both of them. Brianna started to second guess their relationship all over again. Without saying anything, Brianna hung up on Chris. She wanted to cry but she was tired of crying, this time she was going to show her mom just how strong she could be for her. She decided to go downstairs and join her sisters and cousins in conversation, Brianna could hear them from her room. When she reached the bottom step, she smiled at everyone to let them know she was okay and not to worry. She saw Monique and Patricia in the kitchen so she joined them. When Patricia saw Brianna she gave a wink to let Brianna know that she had already discussed the situation with Monique and everything was okay. Patricia left the kitchen to join the rest in the living room. Brianna sat in a chair silently. “Brianna why did those girls jump you today?” asked Monique as she grabbed a chair and sat across from Brianna. “It’s not important.” answered Brianna. “You know I am so sick of you and this little don’t care attitude you have all of a sudden!” said Monique angrily as she got some attention from the living room. “You don’t have to care. Any other time you were too busy to even pay attention to me, so don’t act like you care now!” said Brianna shouting back. “That’s not fair Brianna, you know I have to work!” “Yeah and while you’re working how do you think I feel when you come home and just go to your room. You don’t ask me about my day or anything. Maybe that’s why you never knew I had boyfriend or that I was having sex.” “That’s another thing, who the fuck is this mystery boy who’s beating your ass and causing you to have miscarriages!” “None of your damn business who it is. If I wanted tell you, you have been known!” Brianna I swear you’re gonna turn out just like-.” “Like who, like mommy. Yeah well there’s a difference between her and I. She got her ass beat continuously and I haven’t.” Monique lost control and struck Brianna across her face causing her to fall to the floor. Patricia ran in the kitchen and broke up the argument before Brianna retaliated. “Keep my mom name out of your mouth!” Brianna got up off of the floor. She didn’t bother to fight Monique back, Monique has taken up boxing almost all of her life. Brianna was sure she wouldn’t win that fight. Brianna left from the kitchen and straight out the front door. Monique followed behind Brianna and decided to make a scene outside. “Where you think you going!” “Go ahead, leave me alone.” answered Brianna calmly. Patricia tried to grab Monique but Monique kept pulling away from her. This time Monique grew louder and made people come out of their houses. “Yo you making a scene, go back in the house.” Brianna was getting a little annoyed. Chris heard all of the commotion from his window. He saw that it was Brianna and Monique so he dashed outside to see what was going on. He ran over to Brianna and asked what was going on. “Nothing babe, just go in the house please.” “Babe, oh so you’re the son a bitch that got my sister pregnant and then put her in the hospital!” Monique ran toward Chris and punched him in the face. Chris tried to strike back but Patricia got in the way. That’s when all of Brianna’s cousins ran over and jumped in the fight. Brianna got in front of Chris trying to protect him. “Brianna are you taking up for him? I’m your damn blood!” Monique shouted. Monique was fuming in rage, Brianna could have sworn she saw smoke coming out of her sister's ears. Tears came down Monique’s face. Just then the red Cadillac pulled up, with Trevor and four other dudes getting out of the car. “Come here Chris! Yo you slept with the red headed chick?” he asked. “What about the red headed chick?” asked Brianna cutting in the conversation. “That’s my little sister!” he said angrily. Everyone stood in disbelief trying to figure out what was going on. Trevor pulled a gun and pointed it at Chris. Brianna who was scared to death, still held her ground and stayed in front of Chris. “Brianna move the hell out of the way, are you crazy?” asked Monique. Trevor recognized Monique’s voice and turned to face her. “Monique go in the house, this don’t have anything to do with you. Get your sister and just-.” Briana grabbed Trevor’s arm causing the gun to fire into the air. Chris ran off and the three other boys who came with Trevor ran after him. Another car pulled up and the redhead got out of the car with the same girls she was with earlier. “Bitch I told you I was coming back right!” she shouted at Brianna. “Candy go home!” Trevor yelling at the redhead. “Candy, oh so that’s your name?” Brianna asked walking up to her. “Yeah that’s my name, so what now bitch?” Brianna tried to jump at Candy but Trevor grabbed her and held her back. “Yo Monique get your sister!” said Trevor anxiously. “Wait bro, you know these hoes!” asked Candy. “You the hoe sleeping with everybody man!” said Brianna still being held back by Trevor. “Yup, sure did and you mad!” said Candy. “Mad, what I’m mad for at the end of the day I ain’t going nowhere so you the mad one. You must have thought you was gonna be with him.” “I don’t want him, he beat on females. Why would I want him?” asked Candy. “Chill, Candy shut up and go home like I said!” interrupted Trevor. Candy grew silent, got in the car and did what she was told. “Imma see you again!” she yelled as she got in the car, with the girls following behind her. Trevor let go off Brianna when Candy finally pulled off. “Brianna how the hell could you take up for that boy?” asked Monique angrily. “Because I love him and I’m not gonna let you, or anyone else hurt him. I don’t care what he’s done to me. He promised me he wouldn’t do it again and I’m taking his word for it.” Trevor looked at Brianna as if she was crazy. “He beat you, put u in the hospital and made you have a miscarriage. Is that what you call love, Brianna that’s abuse.” said Monique as tears fell down her face. “I guess it is, but that’s nobody’s problem but mine.” said Brianna looking everyone in the eye. “Wait a minute, you had a baby by that dude?” “It’s none of your business, like I said.” answered Brianna angrily. Trevor threw up his hands in surrender, he didn’t say anything else after that. Brianna looked at Monique and then started to walk off. “Where are you going?” Monique asked tripping over her words a little. “To find my boyfriend.” Brianna answered. “If my manz got to him, you can kiss your boyfriend goodbye.” Brianna took off running, leaving Monique and the rest standing there in disbelief. “Monique aren’t you gonna go after her?” asked Patricia. “No, she’ll come to her senses eventually. Until then I’mma let her learn her listen.” Monique answered. Patricia looked unsure, then she walked off with everyone following behind, including Monique.
Meanwhile, Brianna searched everywhere for Chris. Just as she was about to give up, she came across an abandoned house. She stepped in cautiously and saw Chris laid out on the floor. He was beat up pretty bad. Brianna picked him up and walked him out of the house and back to his house. When they reached the inside Brianna pulled out her phone and tried to call 911. “No, don’t call the cops, I’ll be fine. Just go give me that ice pack out of the freezer.” demanded Chris as he struggled to get out his words. Brianna did as she was told and got the ice pack. When she came back into the living room she tried to put on his face but he resisted. “Stop moving, I’m trying to help you.” said Brianna annoyed. “Why, why do you wanna help me. You the reason I’m like this in the first place!” he shouted. “Oh really, and how is this my fault?” she asked. “If you hadn’t told me you wanted some time apart I wouldn’t have got in bed with Candy.” “No if you learn how to keep it in your pants and control your hormones, you wouldn’t have slept with Candy.” Brianna corrected. “What did you just say to me?” asked Chris angrily. “Nothing, never mind.” said Brianna rowing quiet. “Yeah that’s what I thought you said.” Chris said as he put the ice pack on his head. “I’m gonna go, you got it from here right?” asked Brianna getting up off of the couch. “Go, you not going nowhere. You have to stay here and take care of me. As a matter of fact, make yourself useful and go run me some bath water.” he demanded. “Excuse me?” Brianna asked. “Look don’t make me repeat myself. You say you love me right, then go run my bath water.” he said as he pointed up the stairs. “Chris I-.” “Look stop talking back and just go!” he yelled. Brianna stopped talking and did as she was told. She ran his bath water and made sure it was the right temperature, because she didn’t want to upset him. Brianna sat in the bathroom and looked into the mirror. She had huge bags under her eyes, and her hair was a mess. She got the thinking, that maybe this was all of her fault. She didn’t want to think too long, so she immediately left the bathroom to tell Chris that his bath was ready. Chris went into the bathroom and closed the door, Brianna ran as fast as she could out of the house and went home. When she got there Monique was sitting in the living room. It was dead silent and half the lights were off. “What, did the electric get cut off?” asked Brianna jokingly. Monique looked at Brianna to let her know that she wasn’t laughing. Brianna took the hint and grew quiet. “Where were you?” asked Monique calmly. “I told you where I was going, I went to look for Chris.” “Why?” asked Monique getting up off the couch. “Why? Because he’s my boyfriend, that’s why. I love him and that’s all that matters. You may not agree with it, you may not approve of it. But you know what, I don’t care because nothing's gonna change that.” said Brianna. “Are you insane little girl, you barely even know him!” said Monique raising her voice. “Look I’m tired of arguing okay.” said Brianna She went upstairs and into her room, only to see her things packed on her bed. Brianna ran back downstairs to see what was going on. “Why are my things packed?” she asked Monique. “You wanted your freedom, now you got it. I want you out my house, tonight.” said Monique pointing at the front door. “You can’t put me out.” said Brianna shockingly. “Oh watch me, so go get your stuff and leave.” Where am I gonna go Monique?” “I don’t care where you go, as a matter of fact, go stay with that boyfriend you’re so madly in love with because I’m done with you.” said Monique She walked toward the door and opened it waiting for Brianna to exit. Brianna ran upstairs and grabbed her things, she came back down and without hesitation or a goodbye, she left. She went down the street to Chris’s house and banged as hard as she could. He opened the door and saw her luggage, he shook his head in disappointment. “You finally got up the courage to leave huh?” he asked her. “No, actually she kicked me out.” Brianna said. Chris moved out of the way so she could come in. “Why did she kick?” he asked. “Because of you.” Brianna answered. “Me, what the hell do I have anything to do with it?” he asked. “Well with the hospital incident, Candy jumping me-.” “Wait what you say, Candy jumped you. When?” “This morning, I thought you knew about it?” “Well, this my first time hearing this happened.” “Yeah well it’s over now, thanks to Trevor.” Chris looked confused. “Thanks to Trevor, since when are you two so close?” he asked. “Well since he started dating my sister.” “Monique?” “Yes Chris, that’s my only sister.” “Okay, how long has this been going on?” “Since yesterday, well at least that’s when I found out. Why are you asking me so many questions?” asked Brianna curiously. “No reason, I’m just mad I ain’t know all of this sooner.” he said suspiciously. “Well what difference does it make, It’s all over now?” she said. “Yeah you right.” he answered. “Look I gotta go make a run really fast, I’ll be back.” he said. “Wait you’re going outside, after what just happened are you crazy?” asked Brianna. She started to grow very nervous. “I’m okay, as long as I’m not dying.” “Yeah but that doesn’t mean they can’t kill you. Look Chris I just don’t think it’s a good idea.” “Look I didn’t ask for your opinion, I said I’m coming back and I am so just stay in your lane and know your place!” he shouted. Brianna soon became frightened and grew quiet. Chris left the house leaving Briana there to do nothing.
A few hours passed, Brianna had already taken a shower and laid in Chris’s bed. The scent of Chris was in the bed and it reminded Brianna of how Chris use to be. She soon heard Chris come in and headed up the stairs. Brianna turned over and tried to pretend to be sleep. When he came in he was mumbling something under his breath and was stumbling over things. He must have been drinking she thought. When he climbed into bed, the sweet scent of him went away as Brianna smelled the alcohol on his clothes and breath. Brianna tried to keep still and figured he think she was asleep and wouldn’t bother her, but somehow it didn’t matter to Chris because he immediately started to feel on her. Brianna tried to ignore it at first but then she pushed him away. She really wasn’t in the mood for it, plus she knew he was drunk. He felt on her once more but when Brianna pushed him away, Chris started to get aggressive. Brianna turned to look at him and his eyes were bloodshot red. He started to take off her clothes but Brianna resisted. “No stop, I’m not in the mood Chris!” she yelled. “Shut up bitch. I ain’t have none in 3 weeks from you. Well I’m getting it tonight, I don’t care what you have to say about it.” He continued to rip off her clothes and Brianna continued to resist. Chris was tired of Brianna resisting so he started to choke her. Brianna tried to scream but the grip was too tight. “Please!” was all that managed to get out. “Just shut the fuck up, be a good girl and just go with it okay?” he said very calmly. Tears fell from Brianna’s face as she nodded her head yes. He let go of her neck and continued to rip off her clothes. Brianna cried out louder as she gasped for air. “Chris please, I love you?” She cried. “Shut up!” he yelled at her. Brianna soon gave up and just laid there as Chris raped her.
