After attending Bible College, I would assert that one of the primary challenges I encountered was treating the Bible as a mere textbook. What was intended to serve as a source of spiritual encouragement swiftly transformed into a burdensome task. As I engaged in classes that taught me how to teach the Bible, every Bible study I encountered became an opportunity for evaluation rather than an opportunity for personal growth and understanding of the loving God. Consequently, I now believe that many believers often struggle with cultivating a personal relationship with God. While we may engage in all the appropriate practices such as prayer, reading, fellowship, and serving in ministry, it is crucial to question whether our relationship with God is genuinely flourishing. It is important to recognize that God is a person with emotions, a heart capable of experiencing joy and pain, and a mind capable of reasoning and making decisions. My concern is that we may diligently engage in these practices, yet neglect our love for God. In this video, we will discuss three practical methods to enhance our love for God. Step number one involves reflecting on Psalm chapter 145 verses 3 to 5, which emphasizes the greatness of the Lord and the need to praise Him. The passage highlights the importance of meditating on the glorious splendor of God's majesty and His wondrous works. Often, our faith journey revolves around accumulating knowledge through Bible studies and fulfilling daily reading and prayer obligations. However, it is crucial to allow our minds to truly comprehend and internalize these teachings, allowing them to transform our thought processes. Meditation serves as an effective means to foster our love for God as it compels us to slow down, concentrate, and engage in profound contemplation. It prompts us to ponder the profound truth that God loves us, encouraging us to dwell on this notion. Consider the fact that the God responsible for the creation of the entire universe, encompassing all that we perceive, loves and cares for you. Let us take a moment to truly absorb and reflect upon this profound thought.

Over two millennia ago, an individual may have beseeched God, acknowledging their transgressions and the violation of each of the ten commandments, deserving of eternal damnation in the lake of fire. However, they may have implored God to send the second member of the trinity to Earth, to assume human form and lead a life of perfect righteousness, which we failed to achieve. They may have requested that this individual die on the cross, bearing the judgment and wrath that we deserved for our sins. Furthermore, they may have asked for this individual to be resurrected, thereby undoing the death that he suffered, and granting him eternal life. Upon believing in this individual, they may have prayed for forgiveness of all past, present, and future sins, and for the righteousness of this individual to be credited to them. They may have also requested the Holy Spirit to dwell within them, empowering them to live righteously, and for God to adopt them as his children, granting them the privilege of relating to him as a father. Finally, they may have asked for a home to be prepared for them in heaven, where they could live with God for eternity.
The gospel provides us with an abundance of blessings that exceed our wildest imaginations. The Hollywood screenwriters could not have conceived of a story as remarkable as the gospel, which includes the second person of the trinity inhabiting human flesh, living a perfect life, being beaten, bruised, and hung on a cross to take the punishment for our sins, and rising from the dead to grant us a resurrection body and eternal life. Additionally, the gospel provides us with the third person of the trinity, who dwells within us, conforming us to the image of his son, empowering us to live righteously, and adopting us as his children. The gospel is truly remarkable.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
