Fun facts about the human body!
Some fascinating aspects of human anatomy!

1. You can't really commit suicide by holding your breath; at most, you'll just faint, and then your lungs will automatically start breathing again.
2. People shed skin too; over a lifetime, a person could lose about 18 kilograms of skin (in the form of flakes).
3. The human body has over 600 muscles: it takes just 17 muscles to smile, while frowning requires 43 muscles.
4. If you stretch out your intestines, their length would be enough to safely get you from the third floor to the ground.
5. Newborn babies have over 99 more bones than adults because some of their bones fuse as they grow.
(Medical books say that a newborn can have as many as 305 bones, while a normal adult has 206 bones.) Children have 11 to 12 more bones than adults because: a child's sacrum has 5 bones that fuse into 1 when they grow up. A child's tailbone has 4 to 5 bones, which also fuse into 1 as they mature. Children have 2 ilium bones, 2 ischium bones, and 2 pubic bones, which combine into 2 hip bones in adulthood.
6. In the 12 hours you're awake, the time your eyes are closed when you blink adds up to about 1.2 hours.
7. Your brain has around 2.5 million gigabytes of storage, so you don’t have to worry about it getting full.
8. You have about the same amount of hair as a chimpanzee.
9. Due to gravity, you're about 2 centimeters taller in the morning than at night.
10. The iron in your body could make a nail that's almost 4 centimeters long.
11. If you rub slices of onion or garlic on the soles of your feet, you'll probably taste them in your mouth after about 30 to 60 minutes.
12. You shed about 300,000 to 600,000 dead skin cells in a day, which means the dust in your home is really just skin you’ve lost.
13. If you could stretch out all your veins, they would wrap around the Earth two and a half times.

(You can try lifting your pinky while clenching the other four fingers into a fist.)
20. Adult hair can stretch an extra 25% in length without breaking. If it can't stretch that much, it means the hair is damaged!
