PREFACE:

Kasey Jamison is a 17 years old teenager who has some issues in her life. She lives in Tallahassee, Florida, goes to Lio Mountain High School, she’s a senior, and she graduates in 6 months. Her best friend, Isabella, lives with her because Isabella’s parents died in a horrific car accident when she was 10. Kasey’s parents took Isabella in so she wouldn’t be an orphan, and so Kasey wouldn’t lose her other half. These past few weeks they’ve been studying for major tests, looking for cute graduation dresses, and figuring out plans for after they graduate.

Isabella has a boyfriend, his name is Jay, and he’s a part of the varsity basketball team. Kasey, on the other hand, is single because she has a lot of trust issues and depression. If you’re wondering, here’s why.

Part 1: When her boyfriend from 3 years ago asked her to be his girlfriend, she said yes. About 2 weeks later, he invited her over to his house. Everything was going great until he started leading her up to his room. At the time she was innocent, but he didn’t care. She tried to get away but he threw her down, locked his door, and then she was raped. He kicked her out afterwards, and never talked to her ever again. She is actually glad he never talked to her again because if he did it would just make everything worse

The image of a lake is there just for visual, it doesn't have a place in the story whatsoever.

Chapter 1

December 3, 2016

“Morning Kasey,” Isabella shouted “get up, we’re going to be late.”

“Do I have too?” said Kasey.

Isabella pushed Kasey out of bed, making her fall on the floor.

“Ouch!” yelled Kasey.

“I told you to get up,” said Isabella.

While the girls were upstairs getting ready for school, Kasey’s mom was cooking breakfast for them.

“Girls, “ yelled Mrs. J, “come eat before the food’s all gone.”

“Coming!” Isabella and Kasey replied.

The girls and their family were eating delicious, fluffy pancakes with silky chocolate sauce drizzled over them, and topped with thick whipped cream. Kasey’s brother, James Jamison, (better known as J.J) had already finished his plate by the time Kasey and Isabella came downstairs.

“Wow, how hungry were you J.J?” laughed Isabella.

“Were?” James giggled “I’m still starving,”

The whole table started laughing until the moment was interrupted by Kasey’s alarm going off, telling her that it was time to drive to school.

“Oops, sorry guys. We have to go now,” she said while kissing her mom on her cheek “let’s go bella.”

“Bye guys” Isabella said, waving goodbye to everyone.

They arrived to school just in time for the bell to ring. While walking down the hallway, Kasey noticed a guy that she instantly became fascinated with.

“Woah,” she said almost drooling “Bella, look at him. He’s so cute!”

“Eh,” Isabella shrugged “he’s not really my type. You should go talk to him though.”

“You kidding?” Kasey asked “If I went over there, I wouldn’t even know what to say.”

“Um, try saying hi you goof.” Isabella laughed.

“Not going to happen.” said Kasey as she walked off.

As soon as Kasey walked away, she heard someone calling to her. She ignored it at first, but the person ran up to her, and put their hand on her shoulder.

“Hey!” yelled Kasey.

“Sorry, I just needed to get your attention,” they said, “You dropped something.”

“Oh! Thank you so much, um..” Kasey said hesitantly as she took the unfamiliar paper from the stranger’s hands.

“Christian.”

“Thank you, Christian. My name is Kasey,” she nodded, “Kasey Jamison”

“What a gorgeous name,” Christian said.

“Thank you, Christian,” Kasey blushed “I like yours too.”

Christian smirked, “So what class are you headed to?”

“Chemistry” said Kasey.

“Awesome,” shouted Christian, “me too.”

“Mind if I walk with you?” Christian asked.

Kasey looked over to her best friend seeing if it was okay with her. Isabella gave her two big thumbs up and mouthed something to her.

“Go, goofy!”

“Not at all,” answered Kasey “let’s go.”

After a long hour passed, Kasey met up with Isabella to tell her about her time alone with Christian.

“So, how’d it go?” asked Isabella excitedly.

“What do you mean? Chem is always the same.” Kasey said while shrugging her shoulders.

“Oh you know what I mean. How did it go with the hot guy?” Isabella exclaimed.

“Christian? Oh, well let’s just say that he is a very nice guy. He’s really sweet, he kept me up all class period laughing, smiling and blushing. He even held the door for me both going in and out of class.” Kasey smiled while talking about Christian.

“Woah, sounds like buddy has a chance.” Isabella laughed.

“Ha ha, very funny,” Kasey said sarcastically “We just met. Don’t get your hopes up.”

“Yeah,” Isabella shrugged “but first impressions are everything.”

The lunch bell rings, ending the girls conversation. While heading to the lunchroom, Kasey remembers the unfamiliar note Christian said she dropped. She reaches in her pocket and pulls it out. It reads:

Yo

I don't know your name but excuse me miss

I saw you from across the room

And I got to admit that you got my attention

You're making me want to say yo. -C.S

This intrigues Kasey because these are lyrics from one of her favorite songs. She wonders if he knew this already, or if he is actually this corny on his own.

With the end of the day approaching, Kasey and Isabella have their last class of the day, Trigonometry.

“Kas, you know I hate this class right?” Isabella said while yawning.

“Yeah, I know. You have to take it though, it’s the only class we really need to graduate.” Kasey said.

“You’re right, but what’s one day going to hurt? Let’s skip.” Isabella suggested.

“Bella! You know we can’t do that,” Kasey said sternly “If Falcon catches us or finds out, we won’t be able to participate in any activities!”

“So?” Isabella questioned “We can make our own festivities and invite that new boyfriend of yours. C’mon”

Isabella asked the teacher, Mrs. Troph, if she could step out to make a call. She also added that she needed Kasey for the call. Mrs.Troph looked puzzled but realized these were two students she could trust.

“Okay, but make sure to be back before the bell rings!” Mrs. Troph said.

“We will!” shouted Isabella.

“But, uh, arrghhh.” Kasey growled as Isabella pulled her out of the classroom.

The girls walked the halls while giggling and playing. Kasey didn’t think it was a good idea at first to be skipping, but her best friend soon convinced her to let loose and have fun. Isabella thought it was a good idea to have a race.

“Hey, 100m dash right here.” Isabella said “Last one to the lunch room doors has to give the winner $5.” She sticks her hand out to shake on it. Kasey ponders the bet for a second.

“What, you chicken?” questioned Isabella.

Kasey looks Isabella in the eyes, and just as she is about to shake on it a voice comes out of nowhere.

“Mind if I join in on this?” Christian asks while leaning up against the wall with a smirk on his face. Both girls look in his direction, Kasey quickly recognizes the voice.

“Well, well. What do we have here?” Kasey says while walking up to him. “How long have you been there?”

“Just long enough to know that you guys are skipping and planning some trouble. Can’t have mischief without the king himself.” Christian brags.

“Okay, fine.” Kasey says while turning back to Isabella. “Start line is here, finish line is the cafe doors.”

“Whoever comes in third owes both first and second place five bucks.” Isabella says.

They all nod at each other in agreeance.

“On your marks,” Christian starts the countdown “get set, GO!”

They run down the hall, make a sharp left turn and run down the homestretch. Isabella is losing so she nudges Christian, knocking him into Kasey. Kasey loses balance and falls on her back, followed by Christian landing on top of her. Kasey opens her eyes and sees Christian staring right back at her. An awkward tension fills the air while they lay there, their faces less than 4 inches apart. Kasey bites her lip while Christian looks down at her lips.

“Ha! I won. Give me my money!” Isabella shouts while turning around to face Kasey and Christian. “Oh woah, what happened here?”

Christian sighs while he struggles to get up. He helps Kasey to her feet, and asks if she’s alright.

“Mhm.” she nods. She couldn’t form any words so she just kept nodding.

Three months have passed and ever since that day, Kasey and Christian have been inseparable. They went to the carnival, to parks, on lunch dates, and even to each others house. Of course Iyanna was never lonely, she and Kasey still spent as much time together as they would any other day.

This afternoon Christian is taking Kasey on a lunch date at her favorite park.

“What should I wear?” Kasey asked Iyanna.

“Hmm,” thought Isabella “wear that pink flower dress that you just bought.”

“Good choice, what would I ever do without the smartest person by my side?” asked Kasey

“Oh, I don’t know,” said Isabella “ maybe you would be on the side of the road asking for food and money.” They both laughed.

Kasey gracefully floated out to Christian’s shiny, cherry red sports car.

“Wow,” Christian said “you just get more, and more beautiful every day.”

Kasey blushed as she kissed him on the cheek, leaving a giant smile on both of their faces. They arrived at the park and Christian opened the door for her.

“Your destination, my lady” said Christian as he bowed.

“Chivalry is dead, Chris.” Kasey said as she chuckled and playfully pushed Christian.

Christian stared at her and said, “Not when you have the most beautiful girl in the world.”

They went to the beautiful picnic blanket Christian had set-up. It was covered with juicy watermelons, bright red rose petals, two glasses half filled with bubbly red champagne, and delicious pasta that was made by his mom.

“Christian,” Kasey gasped “this is so beautiful!”

“Just like you.” Christian said before turning to Kasey.

“Aww, tha--” Kasey was cut off by Christian. He pulled her in close and kissed her passionately, putting his hands around her waist. She was shocked at first but soon began to melt into his embrace while throwing her arms around his shoulders.

(Add something here.)

While Kasey was eating, Christian stood up and pulled a paper out of his pocket.

“What’re you doing?” asked Kasey

“Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. Kasey, you are perfect in every way,” He started reading the paper, as Kasey had a big smile plastered on her face

“I know it may be a little cheesy, but you’ve shown me a lot in these past few months. You taught me that beauty lies on the surface, but it is also so far underneath it. I was going through a tough time finding myself before I met you. I couldn’t figure out where I was meant to be. Now I see that I’m supposed to be here with you, Kasey. You taught me how to care about someone so much that they never leave your mind, not even for half a second, and for that I adore you. One might even think that it’s love, which it might be, but I wouldn’t want to rush into that yet. I just have one question, Kasey, will you be my girlfriend?”

Silence filled the air, and Kasey’s smile slowly started disappearing. Memories about what happened to her before filled her head causing a tear to run down her face, softly burning her cheek.

“So-- Sorry Christian,” Kasey stuttered “I - I can’t”

Kasey ran off, and without looking, she ran into the street while a truck was viciously speeding down the road. When she looked over it was too late for her to try to escape. She had tears in her eyes so everything was a blur. The last thing she saw was a bright light heading towards her. She screamed as the truck hit her.

“Kasey!” yelled Christian as he ran to her.

He rapidly dialed 911 and told them what happened. When the ambulance arrived, they wouldn’t let Christian in because he wasn’t a part of her family so he had to drive to the hospital.

2 weeks later, Kasey finally woke up from the shock she was in. She looked over to see her mother and Isabella sitting on one side of the room, and Christian on the other side, crying on the sofa.

“Christian” she said faintly.

“Kasey,” Christian said happily while wiping away his tears, “you’re okay!”

“I’m sorry Chris,” Kasey said “sorry for that, and sorry that I haven’t told you yet.”

“Told me what?” Christian asked anxiously. Kasey looked over and asked everyone to step out for a minute.

“You sure?” they both questioned. Kasey nodded and they both touched her hand before leaving the room.

“The last time someone asked me that question,” Kasey started “I - I ended up getting raped. It was 3 years ago, He was my boyfriend at the time. He was doing drugs; I tried to get him to stop using, and I thought he did. He lied to me about stopping, he said he was clean for months. I believed him and one night he invited me over to his house, he said he missed me. When I got over there I could smell something in the air but couldn’t make out what it was. We were just relaxing and watching movies, nothing should have went wrong. His older brother came in the house with one of his girls for the week, and he decided that we could just go watch movies in his room. After he shut the door he turned around and locked it. He then walked over to me and starting kissing me on my neck. I asked what he was doing but he didn’t answer, he just kept going lower and lower. He started trying to undress me but I wouldn’t let him. He looked at me deeply and I could see the anger in his eyes. At that moment, I knew he was high. I knew he had still been using drugs but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I told him I didn’t want to do anything while trying to get up. He pushed me back on the bed, punched me in my face, and continued to until I was just near unconsciousness. That’s when he raped me while I just cried and cried. Next thing I saw was the morning sunlight, he had kicked me out and never spoke to me again.”

Christian’s sad look soon turned into a very angry look, then back to a very sincere look.

“Kasey, you know I’d never do something like that to you,” said Christian as he grabbed Kasey’s face softly, “hurting you is the last thing I’d ever want to do.”

“Yeah,” said Kasey “I know. Everything just rushed over me and I wasn’t thinking. My first instinct was to just run.”

“I would absolutely love to be your girlfriend, if the question still stands,” she said jokingly.

“Are you kidding? Of course the question still stands, but are you sure?” He asked. “I don’t want to rush you into anything you might regret.”

“I would never regret being with you. You’re everything I could ask for.” whispered Kasey, trying to hold back a tear.

“I could kiss you right now.”

“Well, what’s stopping you?” Kasey said as she smirked.

The two shared a very passionate kiss which got interrupted by the nurse knocking on the door.

“Well, I guess you won’t be needing further testing, huh?” the nurse laughed.

Several months have passed and Kasey is now out of the hospital. Isabella, Christian and Kasey’s family have all been taking good care of her. Tonight, Christian is hoping to do something special for Kasey, so he invites the whole family out to dinner at the best restaurant in town.

Everyone arrives at the restaurant where Christian awaits inside with a silky black suit and a red bow tie. Kasey walked up to him and gave him a hug, with a short but sweet kiss. Everyone else stood there in awe, making Christian get a little nervous. They all sat down, ordered their food, and enjoyed a fabulous meal cooked by well trained chefs. After everyone had finished eating, Christian stood up with a glass, and fork in his hand. He quickly tapped the glass with the fork three times then started to speak.

“Excuse me, everyone,” said Christian “I'd like to say a few words about my beautiful, kind, and loving girlfriend. Kasey, would you stand up please?¨

“Chris,” Kasey said sounding a little worried as she stood up.

“Kasey, you’ve shown me nothing but kindness ever since I first spoke to you. In these 10 months that I’ve known you, I understand why people love each other. I understand how sunshine was created. I now see that there is indeed a great God up in the sky. You, Kasey, are my sunshine. You are my happiness, and now, as I get down on my knee I need only one thing from you. Kasey Lesley Jamison, will you make me the luckiest man on this planet by agreeing to be my wife?”

Kasey covered her mouth, and started crying, but this time they were tears of joy. A big smile appears on her face as she says these words.

“Yes, yes, a thousand times Christian YES!” shouted Kasey.

Christian stands up and puts this beautiful diamond ring with the words

I love you, Kasey encrusted on the base of the shrink on Kasey’s ring finger. They look up at each other smiling then share an intensely ardent kiss. Everyone else around them are clapping, whistling, crying, and shouting.

One month after graduation Kasey, and Christian got married, got their own apartment, and now own a dog. Isabella has also moved out with her boyfriend and Kasey’s family couldn’t be more proud.

THE END
