After four years, I’ve realized that the meaning of life can’t be found here!” — Unknown

Here's a short story based on true life experiences 😪..

It was a gloomy morning in the bustling city of Onitsha, as the rain poured down in torrents. Obinna woke up with a heavy heart, his mind burdened by the weight of societal expectations and the pressure to conform. He had always been the model student, the one everyone expected to excel and pursue a successful career.

As he trudged through the rain-soaked streets, the sound of cars splashing through puddles echoed in his ears. The thought of another day spent in lecture halls, drowning in textbooks and deadlines, filled him with an overwhelming sense of dread.

Entering the college campus, Obinna couldn't ignore the nagging voice inside him that questioned the path he was on. The monotony of the daily routine and the pressure to conform to societal norms suffocated him. Deep down, he yearned for something more, something that would ignite his passion and set his soul ablaze.

In the midst of his internal turmoil, Obinna's gaze fell upon a poster for a local art exhibition. Colors and shapes danced across the paper, beckoning him towards a world of creativity and self-expression. It was a spark of inspiration in a sea of conformity.

That evening, with the rain still drizzling outside, Obinna found himself standing before a canvas, paintbrush in hand. As he let his imagination guide his strokes, a sense of liberation washed over him. He realized that his true calling lay in the realm of art, not the confines of a classroom.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, as Obinna poured his heart and soul into his newfound passion. He frequented art galleries, studied the works of renowned masters, and embraced the vibrant art scene of the city. His talent bloomed, attracting the attention of fellow artists and art enthusiasts alike.

However, with every step he took towards his artistic dreams, Obinna faced resistance from his family and friends. They couldn't understand why he would abandon his promising future in college for what they perceived as a frivolous pursuit. They urged him to reconsider, to choose the safe and conventional path.

One evening, as the rain fell softly outside, Obinna sat down with his family, ready to share his decision. The room was filled with tension and anticipation.

"I have something to say," Obinna spoke, his voice steady but determined. "I'm quitting college."

Silence hung in the air as his words sank in. His mother's face contorted with worry, his father's eyes filled with disappointment, and his sister looked at him with a mix of confusion and concern.

"But why, Obinna?" his father asked, his voice laced with frustration. "You've worked so hard to get here. Why would you throw it all away?"

Obinna took a deep breath, summoning the courage to speak his truth. "I've realized that my passion lies in art. I want to pursue a different path, one that truly fulfills me. College isn't giving me that. It's suffocating my creativity and stifling my spirit."

His mother's eyes welled up with tears, her voice filled with worry. "But how will you make a living? How will you support yourself?"

Obinna looked at his family, his heart heavy with empathy. "I understand your concerns, but I can't ignore the fire burning within me. I believe in my talent, and I'm willing to work hard to make a name for myself in the art world."

His sister, who had been quiet throughout the conversation, finally spoke up. "

Obinna, I may not fully understand your decision, but I want you to be happy. Follow your dreams, and don't let anyone hold you back."
