Escape to Xmas

The cabin was nested in the white snow with glowing yellow windows.

It looked sturdy and charming.

I parked my car and got out. The crisp cold air hit me in the face. I took in a deep breath of it and it smelled so fresh.

It was a big different from the city where auto

exhaust floated freely.

I looked around me at the forest blanketed with white snow and frosted pine trees standing proudly. It was like a wintry wonder land’!

I rush to the cabin and I unlocked the door The welcoming warmth of it seem to embrace me with the smell of vanilla from the scented candle burning on the mantle above the stone fire place made me instantly feel at home.

There was even s fire roaring in the fireplace and I paused to moment to gaze at the blaze. The smell of the wood burning relaxed me. I could feel the warmth of the fire radiating though the room. This was just what I needed- an escape to relax and party!

I looked around and it was seemly rustic but strangely spacious.

It had a long white sofas large chairs on each side of fireplace.

Xmas pillows were everywhere and the tree stood tall filled with bright red and gold decoration.

It was perfect for my Xmas

party of escape.

I showered and put on my long flannel gown and cuddle up on the bed. Watching the flames die down in the bedroom fire place.

My cell phone ringed.

It was Ben my boyfriend.

Hi! I said.

Hi! He said

I began to tell him about the cabin on how perfect it was when he interrupted and said that he would not be able to come due to a sudden work related problem.

I was so disappointed, but managed to say I understand. He was always busy with his work and this was not the first time he had put his work before “us.”

The next day I got up and decided to go down to the village and try not to think about our relationship but deal with it when I returned to the city. I was going to end it. I was tired of being put on the back burner!

The whole town was decked out with Xmas lights and decoration. If I hadn’t been in the Xmas spirit I certainly was now.

I was passing by a toy shop where children were standing looking at the toy displays. It brought memories back to me of my childhood Xmas waiting for Santa to come down the chimney,

Ss I was passing by I looked inside the door and I saw the most handsome man I had ever seen.

He was at the counter helping a customer.

He had curly red hair and he wore over his broad shoulders a plaid red flannel shirt with blue jeans and boots!

I went inside pretending to be looking around .

When the customer left he came over to ask if I needed any help.

when I turned around to answer him I looked into his Smokey grey eyes suddenly felt weak and nothing would not come out of my mouth.

We both stood looking at each other. It was like some magical spell had suddenly take.

Then the bell ringed on his door and a customer came in so he excused himself

I could feel his eyes on me as

I slipped out the door. That was something I had never experience before.

It suddenly began to snow and I went inside a cafe to have some hot chocolate.

I sitting looking out the window at the beautiful scenery of pine tree covered with snow when a voice said, may I join you?

I looked up into those dreamy grey eyesI

He didn’t wait for my answer.

He sat down and looked out the window to see what I was looking at and then said, It’s beautiful isn’t it?

Yes- I said and we turned and looked at each other. Something in his eyes told me he wasn’t just talking about the scenery.

The waitress came over and he ordered hot coffee. Then we sat there in silence. It felt so natural and comfortable being beside him.

Then a weather bulletin came over the tv on the wall.

Their will be dangerous

blizzards conditions though the evening.

Oh I’ve never been in a blizzard before I declared.

As long as you have food and water stay inside you will be fine.

I’m sorry I have to go.

I was worried if my friends would get here before

I got up to leave. He stood up and his eyes held mine captured.

Please mine my manners my name is Ron and I hope to see you around.

He held out his hand for me to shake and when I placed my hand in his I felt an instant thrill and I hear my heart whisper my king.

He held it longer than usual and it seemed everything was whirling around us.

Susan Walker I replied. A pleasure meeting you Ron,

I pulled my hand away and I looked back when I got to the door and his grey eyes looked deep into mine saying things that only my heart could understand

That night the wind hit the cabin over and over shaking it each time.

The snow was piling up around the cabin yet

In spite of it all my two girlfriends and their boyfriends made it before it got worst.

They were all dressed in dazzling bright sweaters and comfortable boots. Sarah my friend who was born here finally drove up with her boyfriend and someone else too..

When they got to the door I realized the extra person was Ron. He was as shocked as I was to see him again.

She introduced him as her cousin and he said that we had met before.

Sarah whispered to me ss she helped me put the coats away that after I had told her that my boyfriend was not coming she didn’t want me to be alone.

The party was great we singed Xmas carols ate from my table filled with finger foods and comfort dishes and wine .

He sat beside me and often I found him looking at me,

The wind hit the cabin stronger than before and I felt suddenly afraid. I got up to go get another bottle of wine and he followed me,

I asked him how long will the storm last?

Probably overnight , he said,

I got the wine and was going pass him when he pulled me close to him.

Don’t be frighten he said I’m here now!

Then he put his arms around me and kissed me. I retuned it as though I had no control. There was something a out him that I couldn’t resist.

I didn’t want him to stop . He held me tight and when our kids ended I laid my head on his shoulder.

Then I pulled away and

started to walk away, he pulled me back gently and kissed me again this time with an intensity passion.

I had never been kissed like that before and I melted in his arms.

Then we heard a loud crashed and the whole house shook.

We ran to look out side. The tall ancient tree in the front yard had fell on the house.

The roof had collapsed upstairs where it had fell,

So I got blankets put more wood on the fire and served everyone more wine.

The cabin still had power because of the generator outside

We pulled out air beds and used our sleeping bags for extra warmth.

Ron and I went into the office off the kitchen and he put wood in the small stove.

He was amazing to me how he just took over the situation. We put the blankets on the sofa and cuddled up on it. The wind was howling out side and I could hear the crackling of the fire as we cuddled.

He kissed me tenderly.

He whispered, it is fate that we are here together.

You are my destiny.

I want you by my side always.

I know now that I will always take care of you. I will never hurt you or let anything else hurt you.

Then he sealed his vow with a kiss

I think you had better get some sleep. He declared.

He covered me up and got up and sat in the wing chair across from me . I protested but he gave me a stern look and I smiled and before I knew it I was fast asleep.

The next day the sun light was shining though the window, but

when we looked outside we could see the cars were were all buried in snow

The ladies in our PJ’s made pancakes for everyone.

We all sat around laughing and feeling happy that everyone was safe and enjoying just being together. He sat next to me holding my hand.

The men went out to dig out the cars from the snow.

Sarah took the opportunity to tell

me about Ron.

She said. he had inherited the toy shop and that their family was one of the founders of the town

so he owned most of it.

She said with a smile on her face, I never saw him so taken by anyone before.

There are plenty of girls that would love to be his but he just wasn’t interested.

When the men came. Suck I. Ron asked me to step outside with him

I could see the trees all covered with snow on the mountain.

A tree next to the patio had icicles hanging from it and when the sun rays touched it, it came alive sparkling and shimmering.

I felt like I was in fairyland.

He put his arms around me.

Ron elaborated ,

I have never felt this way before!

You totally turn me on in more ways than one !

I just want time to stop right here so we can be together forever.

I looked at him,

I whispered?

I feel the same way!

You do? He asked.

Then he put his arms around me and his mouth found mine.

We hugged and he whispered in my ear-That settles it -you are mine!

We laughed in between kisses. and that was the beginning of our lifelong journey together.

I would came up on week end and he would come down to the city when he could and we would go out to. dinner, concerts, walks in the park and it seemed we couldn’t get enough of each other.

There was a small cafe near where I lived in the city where we would always go to eat because of their delicious Italian dishes.

We had become regulars and the owner would always cook something special just for us!

One rainy night after dinner the owner came over and began singing to us with his wife who silently wiped her tears away standing behind him. .

Then to my surprise Ron got on his knees and asked me to marry him.

I was so happy. I accepted as my tears kept falling non stop until he took me in his arms and kissed them away.

The owner brought us champagne and we laughter and planned our life together.

That night He promised to never leave me and to this day many years later he has not.

Even when he is not with me physically I can feel him around me covering me with his loving vibrations and protecting me.

Our wedding took place at his spectacular mountain home with walls of glass which gave a magnificent view of the quiet serene snow tipped mountains.

I wore s simple but elegant white flowing gown while Ron had on a Beige suite with his favorite cowboy boots.

The house was filled with sweet smelling flowers loud music,

and family and friends dancing and dinning on the lavished buffet till the sun came up.

We left the reception early to go upstairs.

Just the sight of him thrilled me he and when he touched me it was like heaven!

In my heart I knew this was no ordinary love, and that he was made just for me.

My heart belonged to him and his to mine. There was nothing that could have kept us from finding each other and so it shall be forever more!
