Embrace what you feel...

Has there ever been a day in your life where you woke up feeling like a brand new person? Like somehow you walked through some sort of time capsule allowing you to recreate your personality and over all look. One where there are absolutely no limitations on how you see yourself but most importantly how the world sees you. Well I’d like to say that on many occasions I’ve been awaken to just that thought and feeling. Many times most people live their lives worried whether their peers or acquaintances would be accepting of them if they decided to do just the thing that makes them feel most comfortable and or free. It’s ultimately what makes us unique and special to the world. As an artist and lover or all things hair, I’ve come up with a way to achieve all that my heart desires to a certain degeee. ;)

I began creating what I call the Personality Canvas! Yes it’s exactly what it sounds like. A canvas that changes often depending on just how I may be feeling at that very moment. Some mornings I wake up curious just how great I’d look if I dyed my hair, I imagined coloring it Blue, red, blonde and even green. Although it’s true that wild and extreme thoughts do come to mind I find comfort knowing my personality canvas allows me the opportunity to explore just that without the damage of my hair or regret of actually doing something I may one day regret. :)

My personality canvas consists of a canvas that I drilled holes into along the hairline of a portrait drawn by muah(me). If I’m in a great mood it would of course consists of a portrait with a really big smile (facial expressions are dependent solely on mood I’m in). I then proceed to insert hair into the holes consisting of what ever texture, color or length of hair I may be feeling or in the mood for that day. After using colored pencils to color in the portrait I then use scissors to cut the beautiful hair to the length desired and am then able to enjoy looking at such a beautiful portrait. When I’m complete I write a few words describing my feelings and emotions I may have been feeling at the time of creating such a piece. Now as I take a look at all the canvases created it’s great seeing just how empowering it is to know how to express myself through my art form. “Exploring and Embracing yourself with no limitations is key in a world that expects complacency”
