Damage Control

Damage control is a new series of articles that I’m going to begin writing in hopes that my experiences in life can prevent someone else from having to experience it.

Inside Part One, I’ll be going over some obvious signs that we can all become oblivious to at one time or another.

I believe, in life, that there will be a type of person that we will all encounter at one time or another that do not have our best intrests at heart, only theirs. Greed and lack of will cause people to take full advantage of you, that is, if you let them. Letting someone use you is a choice but if you’re aware, you can stop the manipulator before you’re their next victim. It’s a harsh reality but this type of people prey on those with pure souls and good intentions.

Here are of some of the major signs I’ve witnessed throughout my lifetime. My intuition is strong as is my empathetic nature so helping is a calling but my intuition can spot one of these dark souls almost immediately, with or without the mask!

Below are the top 10 signs that people are only manipulating you to gain something, and there will be no reciprocity, ever!

1) Days, weeks or even months can go by without you hearing from a person and while this too can be how some friendships are, the person or plural, ALWAYS need something from you. There isn’t ever a time where their contacting you is for you, it’s ALWAYS for them.

2) They will gossip to you about the others in your circle. Don’t be fooled into thinking that they only talk about this other person to you, they are also talking about you to everyone else. This is because they want to keep you & them at their beck and call but not vice versa. Everyone will be against everyone else except them. They’ll act like the perfect friend or acquaintance, all sweet and innocent until the truth comes out, then they’ll accept no blame for causing it, they cannot take any responsibility, ever.

3) Loaning money- manipulators, manipulate and when it comes to money this can really hurt you in the long run. Make sure that they are good for it when it comes to paying it back or you need to atleast have the insight that once you lend you may not receive. Talk is cheap. Words without trust mean nothing. These people who manipulate others have no intention of ever paying it back to you. Even if it’s just a few dollars, consider the odds.

4) They will always have these long drawn out, made up, dramatized stories to get something that they either need or want from you. Usually there will be a pattern of all of these fantisized things that have happened to them and only to them. Along with a river of alligator tears and that’s why it took so long for them to reach out to you, days, months but never years, remember that they “need” you, well what you have, that is.

5) They always play the victim to get what they need. They play on your heart strings to get exactly what they want and they want you to feel bad for every aspect of their life without ever really caring about yours. Their problems become yours or so they think!

6) They are habitual liars. You might not catch them the first time but listen to your intuition. If something feels off, it probably is. If you think they are lying nine times outta ten, they are. They will lie about anything and everything to fill that void.

7) You know how you can just tell when someone is fake.They dish out compliments like nothing you’ve ever seen. That fake laugh. No eye contact. Their words and their actions never line up? The tone of their voice just seems too put on. Once they get what they want, they’ll be thinking how dumb you are, they were able to get you again BUT don’t let them!

8) They never have money when they’re supposed to be paying for their fair-share. Whether it’s going out to eat, daily necessities or something they ask you to get for them. When the time comes to pay, they NEVER have it! They’ll come up with some lame excuse. Once is enough!

9) They’ll never be there for you. Everything is one sided. This should be a really obvious sign however, these people who go around manipulating others have perfected the art of being so busy all of the time until, it’s for them. Until they need something and then they can definitely find the time.

10) It’s never enough until you make it enough and stop this selfish behavior. You must stop it because they never will.
