My Worst Date
It was all so innocent, starting out with a mutual right swipe. He had curly hair, which I always love, so I decided to send him a message. The dude seemed nice, and even a little artsy with his picture in front of an old train. He responded after a few hours, and then conversation flowed, things were going OK. We talked for two weeks over text before deciding to meet up. Then the day came, and he suggested we meet at his favorite donut shop, which would have been fine, casual and close to home in case I needed to run. However, his way of starting the date was to tell me how he used to spend a lot of money on his dates, until he started getting less and less second dates so he started spending less and less money on them; the donuts were five dollars all together. Then our conversation (really his because he did most of the talking) started to get grouchy. He went on and on about how he's angry with his NYU advisor, so I started composing a "help me" text to my roommate, who unfortunately didn't have cell service. I didn't know how long I could deal with this; he sounded nothing like he did virtually. How could I not have known? Had he calculated everything he sent before he sent it?

Date from Hell: 06/06/06
I received a call from an ex-lover who was now seeing someone I was friends with from the past. "Freddy, how are you doing?" Hearing her voice conjured memories of sex in the stairwells where we both worked, bathroom sex in restaurants, and rooftop sex in the middle of a rain storm. What the voice did not bring back to mind was the lunacy and evil, wicked scenes we played out in her apartment or on a bench in Central Park when she scratched my face.

Night of the Gargoyle
#MyWorstDate I pulled into the Seaport Diner in my brother's pickup on a Sunday night just after sunset. I would finally be meeting up with the girl I had been talking to online for the better part of the year. I was nervous. Meeting girls from the internet was not something I made a habit of doing, particularly back then. But I felt like she and I had something going on. From day one we just seemed to click whenever we would talk. So as nervous as I was I was also extremely hopeful. The fact that she was gorgeous in every picture I had ever seen of her probably contributed to that hope as well.

We Talked About Rocks...
I guess you could say that I was feeling quite excited about this date. We have been texting for quite a while and we seemed to be hitting it off pretty well. So when he invited me to go hiking and see the fall foliage, I was pretty pumped. I got ready and put on my best looking pair of work out pants, the ones that made my booty look very nice, and a cute black t-shirt and my new grey and black sneakers. I pulled my hair up into a tight ponytail and grabbed my black Nike drawstring bag, I was ready.

Lobster and Chocolate Liqueur
On this particular date, my birthday had just passed and my fiancé and I were celebrating. He took me into Norman, Oklahoma to eat Red Lobster, shop, and just have fun. We had gotten into town right about the time that Red Lobster opened, so that was awesome. I hate being in crowded restaurants. So we are seated and I ordered, for the first time in my life, lobster and shrimp. I had never had a whole lobster before so I was excited! The waiter then took our menus and we were left to sit in romantic lighting, talking and stuffing our faces with delicious biscuits. I picked up the alcohol pamphlet they leave at your table and I was really studying when our waiter came, and he asked us if we wanted an alcoholic beverage to go with our dinner. I'm all like "eh, why not?" And I guess I forgot what I ordered...I have no idea why in the world I would do such a thing, but I did it. I ordered a freaking mudslide; chocolate liqueur and kaluha. It looked so yummy on the paper...but I was wrong. So, so dumb.

My Worst Date
It was winter time. Cold and dreary. I was 19 years old and twice over a new mother. I had found out my boyfriend of four years had been cheating on me with his sister's best friend. I had thought he was out working many nights when, in fact, they were sleeping together and staying in his car those nights. I was devastated. My youngest was just a few months old.

Captain Creeper
I've always been put off by the idea of dating, I'm more of a "love at first sight" kind of person. My friends and family often poked fun at this, believing me overly selective. They thought if a guy seemed nice and was reasonably attractive, that I should,"stop being such a snob and give him a chance." Let me be clear, I wasn't a gold digger or excessively shallow type, but I didn't want to waste time with anyone with whom I didn't share that special spark! I suppose my friend's lectures eventually wore me down though, priming me for the events I'm about to share.

Tinder Date Gone Wrong...
*names have been changed in this story* Summer 2014. A couple weeks ago my boyfriend/best friend had broken my heart, telling me he had decided to join the Army and he didn't want me to wait for him. It was one of the hardest breakups I had gone through, especially for the fact I could see myself marrying him.
