Chris Jericho: It's Always Something

Chris Jericho's popularity is immensely decreasing, and it's rightfully deserved for so many reasons

You know, it's amazing. As much as Chris Jericho continues to evolve as a character and a wrestler, he has absolutely regressed as a human being.

A 24-year wrestling vet, Jericho's current step in his career has seen him now in All Elite Wrestling following a long on-and-off career in WWE that began all the way back in 1999, where he debuted as one of the first WCW transplants to jump ship to where the proverbial grass was greener; well, one of the first to do so during the height of the Monday Night War. We know his WWE accolades: nine-time IC Champion, first ever Undisputed Champion, won both versions of the Grand Slam, six time World Champion, created the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, all of that. Jericho joined AEW the second that the company's doors opened, and became their first ever World Champion, won the ROH World Title, and is the current holder of the FTW Championship.

We've seen a lot from Jericho in AEW. In fact, we've seen too much.

The vast sentiment from fans is that Jericho's hogging TV time that could be saved for younger/more deserving talent, which is so very true. How does Jericho respond? By basically mocking said fans with his current heel gimmick, which has him always speaking in happy tone and saying "Hi, guys!" in a condescending tone, and he portrays himself as someone who has to be on TV. I hate this gimmick because it's so fucking cringe. And don't give me that, "Well, that means he's doing his job." No. There's normal heel heat, meaning booing the character, not the person, and there's this. Canadian wrestling fans know what I'm talking about.

Jericho's not being booed because his character is villainous. He's being booed because he's a total fucking asshole...and a sex offender.

Yes, that's right. We all remember this. Jericho took advantage of Kylie Rae, a known women's wrestler from the indie scene who has also competed in WWE, Impact, NWA, and AEW. We know it. We heard it. And we stand with Kylie Rae. At least we should and damn well better stand with Kylie Rae.

But there's more, folks.

This ignorant walking sack of mediocrity and irrelevancy is Sean Morley, aka Val Venis. I've despised this fuckwad for years after I read about his disgusting and misogynistic comments about Melina, which I will definitely not repeat here because I'm too much of a wrestling fan, a feminist, and a gentleman to do so. So Val has recently turned his stupidity all the way up to a million recently. Apparently, he's one of those snowflakes who is triggered by seeing the letters L, G, B, T, and Q all together in that exact order, and he doubled down on his hateful and stupid bullshit by posting a selfie of himself wearing a t-shirt that said, "Hello, Biological Ladies," which is a bigoted form of Val's "Hello, Ladies" catchphrase.

Without question, Val was showing his devout transphobia with that shit, but here's where Jericho comes in. Jericho actually liked that selfie on social media. He's not alone; Jericho's wife is also a transphobe, as she's also liked transphobic comments on social media. Yet Jericho goes around acting like an ally and claiming to support Nyla Rose, who is trans. If Jericho's an ally, then I'm Connor Hellebuyck.

So to recap: Jericho's a spotlight hog, a rapist, and a transphobic prick. That's a hat trick full of toxicity right there, folks. Yet very recently, Jake Hager (the former Jack Swagger in WWE) is out there saying that Jericho's unselfish and puts people over. Not really, Hager. Jericho put Hager over...many times, and because he received one main course and a few scraps, all of a sudden he's kissing Jericho's backside. Yikes. Honestly, Jericho should listen to the loud crowd and "please retire." There's no place in wrestling for bigots and rapists.

People like Chris Jericho don't deserve to be in entertainment. I'm glad you wrote this article about him.
