If you've been wondering where Nollywood actress Chika Ike has been all this time, she has been working on making, selling and pushing her makeup line, Chika Cosmetics.

At this point, celebrity makeup and skincare lines are no longer new to anybody. Celebrities across the globe are opening up their own skincare and makeup companies. Each time, the same question is asked: what gives this person the credibility to wake up and start their own makeup company? It is a question that celebrities all over the world ask and it is a question that I myself am curious to hear the answer to. Why did Chika Ike, an already successful Nollywood actress decide to start wearing makeup? And also, like the interviewer asked her, what training or credibility does she have to do so? Here's what Chika said in response to these questions.

Speaking during the press launch of Chika Cosmetics, Chika Ike was asked:

"Why cosmetics? Why makeup? Why beauty?"

Chika: I'm in the entertainment industry and when you're in the entertainment industry, obviously you are looked upon as a role model for different beauty products. They look at your makeup, at what you wear, so definitely, you're already a person to look out for when it comes to such things. And for me personally, anybody that knows me knows I love cosmetics. If you go to my room, you'll think I'm a beautician. You'll think I own a cosmetic store because I have loads and loads of them, I can't stop buying them. So I had to do something I'm passionate about. And they say passion comes before anything. I would have done something else but I mean, I have to do something I'm passionate about. So I'm very passionate about the beauty industry.

"Did you go to any beauty school or have any kind of special training before coming out with this kind of product?"

I think there is no other training as using products for over a span of 14 years of my career. Being an actress, being a model, I think testing different brands, different products, has given me some credibility when it comes to products and beauty products in general. Because I became a model first, I started out as a model, then I progressed to being an actress. So over the course of my career, I have tested different kinds of product. I have used the one that would break my skin out. I have used the one that would cause me rashes. I have used the one that are really good. So this particular training has been on the field, testing out products. Then I had to actually travel to different factories, and ask vital questions. I consulted the people in the beauty industry and before this product was made, it went through a lot of processes. I can say for sure beyond the training I'd get in beauty school, what I've gotten on the field and what I've gotten over this 2 year span before the product came out, is more training than any training I can get in beauty school.

What do you think? Chika Ike is not the first celebrity to start a makeup line so what do you think in general about these celebrity product lines? Do you think celebrities should stick to what we know them for? Do you think they need training before they enter something like this? Or do you think that their passion and years of using products qualifies them enough to start product lines? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post. I'm curious to see what you think.
