"Chasing Immortality: Why man Struggles to Accept Mortality"
The hard facts of life.
The desire to live forever has been a human goal from ancient mythology to contemporary science. Man thinks he is unbreakable somewhere deep within. He creates empires, hoards money, indulges in vanity, and pushes ambition to its limits—often losing sight of the fact that life is short, brittle, and very unpredictable.
The Deceptive Presence of Authority
Man lives his life thinking he controls time. There is a secret hubris in the rush to succeed, to win over, or to dominate—the conviction that tomorrow will come. He planned for years, treated aging as a fiction, and piled ambitions like trophies. The delusion that "I have time" is strengthened by exercise regimens, anti-aging products, and online escape. I am in charge, I am the change, I'm eternal.
However, nature tells it differently. The illusion is shattered like lightning across the sky by an unforeseen accident, a sudden sickness, or the death of a loved one. Man pauses in certain situations, not because he is smart, but rather because he is shocked or exposed.
A Temporary Gift, Not a Right
Real wisdom is acknowledging that life is a gift rather than a given reality. Every dawn is a quiet gift, and every breath is borrowed. But man hardly pauses to notice it. He lives his life on autopilot, always scrolling, swiping, and comparing—distracted from the true meaning of life.
Many live without ever asking, “What is life?” Is it in accumulating possessions? Is it in chasing success? Or is it in relationships, moments, and the quiet joy of being?
Detachment from Emotions in a Hyperconnected World
The globe has become smaller yet more isolated due to technology. Man separates himself from reality by pursuing digital immortality via likes, shares, and carefully constructed personalities. Emotionally famished people, yet being connected all the time, is a cruel irony.
This disengagement results from a misperception of life. Scheduled gatherings and manufactured affirmation are not the way to live a true life. It breathes in spontaneity, unfiltered feelings, sincere dialogue, and both pain and joy.
Man's Inappropriate Priorities
Man invests in the wrong things—status over substance, ego over empathy—because of the fantasy of immortality. He forgets that power cannot halt death, and riches cannot purchase time. He forgets the facts, living in his quest for fame.
The structures we build fall apart. We gradually forget the legacies we concentrate on. All that is left is the love we provided, the presence we created, and the feelings we evoked in others.
Discovering the Purpose of Life Again
The worth of life is found in its transience. What makes it meaningful is that it comes to an end. Its beauty stems from its fleeting nature, much like a sunset. Being attentive rather than morbid is what it means to live with a knowledge of mortality.
It entails putting presence ahead of appearance. It entails having a deep love, forgiving others easily, and enjoying the little things in life, such as a peaceful stroll, a shared dinner, or a morning breeze.
The Transition from Eternity to Intentionality
Man must embrace intentionality instead of pursuing the delusion of immortality. Let us live our lives with meaning, empathy, and the humility to acknowledge that we are just passengers and not time owners of the time machine.
Let's create relationships as well as careers. Let's leave behind love as well as accomplishments. Let's aim for presence rather than permanency. Connect with the worldly life for health, wealth & happiness.
