The nature of dating in the modern age comes in the form of dating apps, so why not find friends?

For myself, I am a shy person and have struggled to put myself out there and make friends my whole life. Making friends as an adult is harder in itself, so I was thankful to discover an application that would allow me to make friends without having to leave the house - living in a pandemic world has forced us to remain indoors.

Before I had no knowledge about these applications, I was under the belief that they were just apps designed to find hookups or relationships.

So I took a chance and made a profile, with a small blurb about myself, which included the possibilty of taking new friends on future adventures. This is a hobby of mine that I enjoyed, yet I lacked the friends to venture with.

This is how I came across my newfound friend, Tash. We agreed to meet at a cafe halfway point between our cities. There was a small part that had the fear that they made of been a preditor faking the account, I had to make sure this girl was trustworthy. So when it came to time to meet, I'm met with a girl that would become a quick friend.

We were able to bond over an iced coffee as we discuss our lives and even some of the recent troubles we found in life. We had many things in common that led to us exploring more of the small town we had agreed to meet at, where we even ventured to a gipsy fair. There we had purchased matching friendship bracelets.

Not wanting the afternoon to finish so soon we baked cookies and even made some soap back where I am living. There we were able to learn more about each other's lives.

We clicked, quickly. Something I hadn't experienced more.

We both had the goal we wanted to travel more around our country, due to the borders being shut we weren't able to travel abroad. So we began drafting ideas of destinations we wanted to venture to, that's when the idea of travelling together came to life. A passion we could both bond about.

So, in a short time, we followed our coffee date with a picnic date on the beach. There we discussed more the possibility of it becoming more of a job rather than just an extended holiday. Coming with ideas on how we can fundraise the money to start our own blog and start the next adventure in our lives, wanting to make a change from the negative people that led us to seek friendship from an app.

To summarise, Bumble BFF has proven to be a success story. I am putting myself out of my comfort zone and making connections with new people each day. If you're going through a hard time in your life and lacking support from your current friends, I would give this opportunity ago, you never know, you could meet your new best friend!
