some promises just aren't meant to be kept

Sarah and Tom had been friends for as long as they could remember. They grew up together and were practically inseparable. They both had a passion for music, and they dreamt of starting a band one day. They promised each other that they would pursue their dreams together no matter what.

Years went by, and they both went their separate ways. Sarah moved to Nashville to pursue her music career, and Tom stayed home and settled into a more normal life. Even though they were apart, they kept in touch and talked often. They would often reminisce about the good old days and their dream of starting a band.

One day, Tom called Sarah and told her that he had written a song that he thought would be perfect for their band. Sarah was excited to hear it and told Tom that she would be home in a few days and could come over to listen to it.

A few days later, Sarah arrived at Tom's house, and they sat down in his living room. Tom gave Sarah his guitar and began to play the song. As he played, Sarah's excitement turned to disappointment. The song was terrible, and there was no way that they could use it.

Sarah tried to be kind and told Tom that the song wasn't quite what she was looking for. Tom seemed hurt and asked Sarah if she had anything she had written. Sarah pulled out her notebook and showed Tom a few songs that she had written.

Tom was impressed with Sarah's songs and told her that they should use them for the band. Sarah was hesitant at first. She knew that Tom had promised to help her with her music, but she didn't want to use her songs without him. She told Tom that they should work together and come up with something better.

Tom agreed but never made an effort to work with Sarah. He became busy with work and his family and didn't have time for their music. Sarah tried to reach out to him, but he was always too busy to talk.

Months went by, and Sarah started to give up on her music dreams. She had lost her passion for it and felt like nobody cared. One day, Sarah heard a song on the radio that sounded just like one that she and Tom had written together. She was shocked and hurt that Tom had used her work without her permission.

Sarah called Tom and confronted him about the song. Tom tried to explain that he had just thought it would be a good addition to their repertoire, but Sarah was not having it. She felt betrayed and hurt that Tom had broken their promise.

Sarah couldn't believe that her best friend had used her work without giving her the credit she deserved. She couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal, and their friendship suffered for it.

Sarah eventually moved on and started playing music with other musicians who appreciated her work. She never forgot about the promise that she and Tom had made, but she knew that it was time to move forward.

Years went by, and Sarah heard that Tom had started a successful band. She was happy for him but couldn't help feeling bitter about the broken promise. She knew that their friendship would never be the same, and she regretted the way things turned out.

In the end, Sarah learned that sometimes promises are broken, and it's up to us to move on and find new paths. She now has a successful music career and still plays with her band, but she'll always remember the promise that she and Tom had made and the way that it was broken.
