Being Imperfect Is Perfect

Find out how ?

Look at the image above. You see a happy family with a home that is imperfect, but their smiles are so radiant. They are happy together.

Similarly imperfect articles and imperfect videos get the highest traffic. To get viral online and in life, we need to embrace our imperfections that make us human. We are not God to be perfect.

Wabi Sabi.

Wabi sabi is a Japanese concept to embrace imperfections. They even cherish a broken pot for its imperfections. Similarly for humans and fellow beings they accept their imperfections.

Over expectations from everyone.

The world has shifted to a new reality. Here we need everything to be perfect. We are over-expecting from everyone. The children need to get the best grades, behave perfectly, be good at sports, and achieve everything perfectly. It wasn’t the same in our times, where if we didn’t score 100 percent on math, that was just okay. If we don’t have perfect clothes, we would accept the fact and be happy with what we have. Every child wasn’t expected to look beautiful. Imperfections were a part of life.

How did this happen?

This is a result of social media, where we all are compared with others. Instagram and Facebook show us perfect people and perfect lives of others. This leads to our expectations of each other and ourselves.

Even Elon Musk has deleted Instagram saying that this is the most artificial platform where people showcase their beauty. They pretend to be the happiest whereas in reality they are the most lonely and depressed people looking for validation from the outside world.

Perfect relationships.

We expect our partner to be perfectly well-dressed and well-behaved; we want them to treat us well always and look like the most attractive person in town. We want our partner to be always motivated, earning well and always fulfilling all our desires and expectations. We are not ready to settle with anything that is average or ordinary.

How to change this?

We need to celebrate life as it is. Embrace the imperfections in everyone and everything. Be fine if your child is not scoring like other children.Don’t compare. Accept it if your spouse doesn’t look as stunning as you want. Accept people as they are with their original qualities do not try to change anyone. Accept that a small house is still a blessing.Celebrate being YOU.

You are unique; only you can be you. Celebrate togetherness. Value your relationships. Seek love, not riches. Seek a cozy home and not a big house.

Acceptance is mandatory.

Accept your own mistakes and flaws.

Live with the scars; they define your journey, of what made you who you are today. Live life with the basics with no showing off about the possessions and the achievements. Work in silence, and success will speak for itself. Be calm and subtle. Don’t make a noise about what brand you purchased today and which holiday you are planning.

Celebrate the imperfections in each other. Everyone has a different quality.

This is a really powerful piece! You've nailed it with how obsessed we are with perfection these days. Social media definitely doesn't help, everyone always seems to be living their best life. But you're right, there's beauty in imperfection. We should embrace our flaws and celebrate the unique things that make us, well, us.

The reference to Wabi Sabi resonates deeply. It’s a profound reminder that by accepting our unique qualities and those of others, we can find true happiness and contentment.

Love this! Such a great reminder to embrace the flaws and just enjoy life as it is. Perfection is overrated, and your take on Wabi Sabi is spot on. Celebrating the little imperfections is where the real beauty lies. Keep it real!
