Being a shadow worker
A different kind of lightworker, or maybe not.

(TRIGGER WARNING: mentions or rape and abuse later on in this article.)
Over the last 2 or 3 years, I feel this need to hold a mirror in front of everyone's faces and show them the parts of themselves they run away from and don't want to see. Not to be rude or annoying, but to help them heal because beyond all that painful stuff, you gain more self-love, appreciation for yourself and other, more self-respect. respect and understanding for others, there's just so many more pros than cons.
In those deep recesses of our souls, lies wounds, emotional wounds that need to heal, things people said to us years or decades ago that sticks with as if it were a physical scar. Ever met someone who bases their whole personality and appearance, traits and so on, on what others think about them? Someone called them ugly somewhere down the line and so they give that persons opinion of them more power, by emobdying that and walking around saying "I'm ugly". Someone might ask them why and they say "[insert persons name here] said I was ugly so...." when it's just not true.
Do you truly realise just how much power you let others have over you when you allow their opinions and perspectives of you define who you are and how you act? If a few people call you a freak, ugly, rude or so on, that is more a reflection of who they are and what they think about themselves, let me give you an example.

Someone who wears the same type of clothing every day may look at someone who has a drastically different dress sense from them and say that person "doesn't know how to dress". Someone may be lazy in their workplace and may be asked what they think of the new boss and respond with "she doesn't know how to run the company". This is projection at its finest!
I know it's easier said than done, but trust me when I say that people project their insecurities and issues on to others. You have no idea how many times I've heard someone call me fat or ugly when they have poor personal hygiene and have an overweight or obese BMI level to put it (somewhat) nicely.
Imagine if all of others opinions, cause you to suppress those parts of yourself that were completely free as a child. This is your shadow. The people with the heaviest shadows are the ones causing the most abuse and mayhem in this world. That includes world leaders, domestic abusers, rapists, serial killers and school shooters. These are the people that have felt the most neglected, unloved, unheard, unseen, undervalued, undermined, degreded, depersonalised and ridiculed in their lives. All of this inevitably leads to pushing under the surface all that needs to be dealt with, causing those pent up emotions and personality traits to come out in other ways. Unhealthier ways.
If you are serious about becoming a better person and are willing for me to help you, please drop me a follow to stay updated on my next article where I explain more about shadow work in-depth and how to do it effectively.
