Being a Christian is Tough in America

How to survive in a country that is a type and shadow of Babylon the Great.

By Alex Von TolmacsyPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

America is not the Christian nation that the world thinks it is. there is no such thing as a Christian Nation.. There is a body of believers with Christ as the head of the body, giving it direction and meaning, but Christ came not to Earth to ruin the lives of men. He came to save the poor. Those who's spirit endures despite the world beating them at every corner. Those who retain their faith in the Father above and the Son who died for our sins.

America is a nation that considers itself Christian and there are certainly Christians in America, but they go around with labels, doctrines, denominations and messages that are contrary to that presented in the gospel. We are surrounded, daily and hourly, by the vilest of media and the most selfish of lifestyles.

A Christian must give up that idea of self. we are a body, we are one people through the sacrifice of Christ. We are a bought people. We serve Christ and he owns us completely. But the great thing? If you know him and trust and obey his word, he still grants you freedom to do as you will. For the glory of both. But you will not want to do things that do not glorify the kingdom.

Prosperity is a doctrine that defines a Christian as faithful based on worldly success. This is directly counter to the message of the New Testament. The covenant which Christ brought to fruition through his death on the cross. The believer that gives all he has inherits the kingdom. The believer that hoards will have none of it with them in the end.

We [humans]are not good people by nature. Humans are petty and cruel liars who wear a thousand faces to try to fit in. You've countless heard a person exclaim, when caught in an abject lie: "I am a good person!" None are good. Since the first curse of man in Eden, all have claimed to be good. None are worthy without Christ. He nailed all our sins to the cross. Our sins died with him.

There is a catch, however, it only applies to those who believe in him with all their hearts and minds and souls. This is not an excuse to accept him once and then forget about him. Accept him always.. in all things and he will guide you to that life of 'good' that we all claim to have. Turn your back on him after turning to him and the world which nipped at your heels will eat at your ankles seven-fold.

So this is the key to surviving this world of temptation, cruelty, hedonism and sin. Put off the old man and adorn the new. Come to Christ and the world will despise you as it does him. only then will the world grow dark and you'll come to realize that it is no longer your home. Eternity is.

This is LGTBQ pride month and I want you to know. We are all sinful. every single one of us. When we exist without Christ. it's a matter of choices, and a matter of lifestyle. God loves who you are, he does not love how we live. Turn to him. don't live in sin. Live life in a manner where you'd be ok with Christ watching. I've never had the lord put in my heart to 'pray away the gay' only to love thy neighbor. You all are my neighbors. and I wouldn't be loving you if I cursed the very idea of 'queerness' I'm a pretty odd duck myself :D

Love, Alex.
