#Bday

A short romantic comedy

By Don AmaroPublished 5 years ago 4 min read

Without warning, Montez Clark lets out a loud yawn, but quickly cuffs his mouth when he realizes how loud it was. He had been working tedious through the entire morning and afternoon in between meetings with clients and investors to ensure that all analysis reports were either completed or initiated before he left for the day to celebrate his special day. While it has been a rather pleasant day with all of the Happy Birthday wishes from various co-workers and clients, the workload itself tended to become exhaustive at times due to its unexpected increase as originally, he was going to be off for the day. Still, it is always rewarding to be a high-level Business Analyst helping top clients with achieving their business goals and owning his own IT business where he offers tech support and tutelage to those in need of it. “Hey Monty, I know you’ve been going nonstop all day since you got here, but David Collier is on the phone, said his assistant Arthur Kinsel as he dipped his neck into Montez’s office. “Put them through on line 3, Montez said as he quickly picked up to answer.”

“So, what did you have planned this evening to celebrate your big day, Stephanie Brewer asked Montez as she caught up to him while walking out of the building to the parking lot?” Knowing that there would some confusion because of the name of the location, Marco quickly pulled out his iPhone which was the newest model out he bought as an early gift to himself to show her the website of the venue. “Well, I’m actually going to a trendy jazz spot my father told me about called Deux Yu (pronounced Do You) where I have a small table reserved.” Stephanie’s eyes seem to be noticeably more lit up when he told her where he was going, much to his annoyance. While Stephanie was a nice person, she was very annoying and seemed to be a bit clingy despite Montez showing no genuine interest in her beyond being cordial, which she seemed to misinterpret as genuine interest. “That sounds fun and I would love to come to help you celebrate, Stephanie exclaimed as she seemed to invite herself.” Montez wanted to roll his eyes and scream “Oh hell naw!” but he kept his morals and remained cordial. “While I appreciate that, the table occupancy is already full and everyone coming had already confirmed early on that were coming, but should anything change, I will let you know, Marco said as politely as possible before hopping in his car, an iridium blue Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD coupe that he remotely started earlier before he left his office.” After driving down towards the end of the parking lot, Montez had no idea that Stephanie was still staring at him from the sidewalk with a devilish smirk on her face as he headed towards the nearest gas station.

Despite the blazing number of notifications on his phone that he saw through the Apple Carplay infotainment system in his car, Montez was unable to read them as they were coming in too fast for him to be able to safely check any of them while driving as he headed to his condo at the 1325 Lofts community in downtown Raleigh. Once he got back into his unit, Montez slumped onto his couch to screen through all of the notifications and saw that naturally several of the women he was involved with wanted to celebrate his special day with including a few that he hadn’t even saved the numbers for yet. Being adventurous and looking for something new, he started to respond to one of the unsaved numbers and ultimately invited her out to his party at the lounge, which had a masquerade theme. Afterwards, Montez went to shower and get changed into his birthday attire and head out the door.

“Man, you were taking so long to get here that we thought you were with one of your chicks instead, yelled out Greg, one of his frat line brothers.” “Naw, you were probably with that chick Stephanie, joked Lawrence, one of his coworkers.” Montez just shook his head as they walked into the club with the rest of his invited quests, which were a few other coworkers and frat brothers. The venue was decorated nicely with the requested royal blue and white theme with live band and staff color-matched as well. After everyone got settled in on the couch in the private VIP section that was closed off from the rest of the club, several waiters came over towards their table to bring the food and beverages over as they were ordered and the party began. As the waiters brought over the birthday cake and prepared to sing “Happy Birthday” , a striking young woman with her mask still on that seemed familiar to Montez came over to him and started to give him a lap dance. Watching her move all over him had Marco in a lustful trance. When he asked if she was the chick he was texting earlier, she nodded yes, but when he asked her name, she shook her finger at him. After everyone sung Happy Birthday and Montez blew out all of the candles, the woman climbed back on top of him and started grinding on him. When Montez asked her who she was a second time, the woman stopped grinding, said “You already know!”, passionately kissed him, and slowly took off her mask to reveal that she was none other than his annoying coworker Stephanie. All of Montez’s guests immediately spat out their drinks while Montez had his jaw completely dropped in shock as Stephanie replied “Happy Birthday, Montez” as she got up and left.
