Barriers Borders and Bordelos
A prose poem in APA format

ABSTRACT
This collection of words wrangled in the style of a poem
format called APA is a discussion of the barriers in
communication due to two specific concept; Enculturation
and projection. These barriers are the ones that I claim
as my own in the endeavor of communication and
critical thinking or living life to the fullest I should say.

BARRIERS BORDERS
AND BORDELOS
The means of community these days is based on the ability
to communicate almost instantaneously. However the ability
to communicate is not simply a straight forward approach
as one may seem to deem as common sense. There are these
hurdles that one must overcome in order to achieve a full
connection of truancy in communication and understanding
of one another’s concepts and intentions. An well tuned
intention is critical in the engine of critical thought. I would
like to discuss thought as an engine. However before we do
this we must understand what an engine is. An engine is an
entity that provides the capability of potential power to be
expressed. In this context I suppose that thought would be
the engine and intention would be the mechanism in which
the engine has the capability to function. The function overall
is to move one object from one point to another. So thought
when used critically; is to move a concept or abstract object
from one point of existence to another. In this aspect I suppose
the thought has to have then a vehicle in which it is driven
or experienced. This is where the barriers in communication
and critical thinking come into play. The body of a huge van
will take maneuvering and skill to handle through the city of
Chicago. A small compact mini would indeed be much easier
to handle in the environment of a strenuous challenging world.
I am beginning to rather enjoy the thinking of this concept of
thinking as a vehicle and an engine. I suppose it is my critical
thought that brought it to existence. However I must remind
myself that this essay is not just about the concept of thought
and its archetype; also the barriers that stifle thinking.
Enculturation is one barrier that I have fond most definitely
to be a barrier. I have been brought up in a mix and flurry of
different and varying cultures and way of thinking. At home I
was brought up primarily by Spanish Roman Catholic parenting
with a mix of Chicago’s politics rooted in wind. However as
soon as it was deemed possible I was also encultured by the
rhymes of Dr. Seuss and green eggs and ham in book and
audio book format. The barriers that were seemingly in place
to teach me to think one way were also the ones who taught me
to think another way. I was taught at a very early age to think
critically. I was taught a game by my grandfather while I was in
Mexico. The game of no is yes and yes is no. From that moment
forward I began to critically think about things in a different
manner simply because I was able to disassociate the definition
of a word. do not believe I have barriers when it comes to my
thinking however I suppose that is also denial on my behalf. I
like to think that all the words and thoughts we have are merely
vibrations that can be captured by the multiplex of senses we
have available to sense with. Our eyes capture the vibrations of
light as they dwindle by in our everyday blinking. The ability
to capture a thought is the ability to capture a vibration or
catch a slinky. Do you recall the slinky? The metal object of
coiled streaming soothing sounds and wisps of air. A seemingly
inanimate object until it is thrust into action. Either by a push
a pull a stretch or a catch. So to is my critical thought like the
slinky. Who would think that a slinky would one day be the
overall image in my mind that was able to help me understand
the concepts of critical thought. The engine is also a thought
that I would not have known to reference had it not existed.
However the same concepts of the engine would have been
available to me in the form of biological movement. My body is
a vehicle of critical thought. If my body is the vehicle of critical
thought and critical thought is the engine then the driver I
suppose is the experience.
