Banky W Speaks for First Time After Losing Election

Here's what Banky said

By Jide OkonjoPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Nigerian singer turned politician Banky W has been fiercely campaigning over the last couple of months to get the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. However, when the results came in after last week's election, it was announced that Banky W had lost out on the seat to Mr Thaddeus Attah, the Labour Party candidate.

As you can imagine, losing for anybody at any level is not easy and it is not fun, and so eyes have been on Banky W to see how he would respond to the loss. Now, the singer and politician is finally taking the microphone. Banky W delivered a message titled "Faith After A Fall" at The Waterbrook Church earlier today, and it was indeed a powerful message to hear after such a heartbreaking loss. Here is the highlight of what Banky W said.

Banky W giving his message

Speaking about losing the elections, Banky W said in his message:

BANKY W: Please if you were one of the people that you were a vounteer, you were a donor, or you were a prayer warrior intentionally on this campaign that we just ran, God bless you guys. Thank you. Thank you so much. We ran the most amazing campaign. I mean, didn't we? We ran an incredible, inspiring, invigorating campaign to the glory of God. And I don't know about you but I'm proud. I love you guys.

I actually struggled with whether I should speak today in the first place. You guys are my family, so I will be honest with you. [Pastor Blessed Up] and I spoke about today's service weeks ago. This was to be our thanksgiving service. After the election is over, and we come and we are celebrating, and we're thanking God, and I was just going to give a short charge to say see what the Lord has done, and then we use that to build up your faith and give God some much due and necessary praise, and then we finish the service, and I go to Abuja and start looking for apartments and office space and things of that nature. And when the events of the last week started playing out in real time, you know sometimes life can come at you fast when it feels like the wind is knocked out of your sails and you're trying to understand what's going on. I came this close to calling Pastor to [cancel my preaching today] and then God said to me, so is it only faith when you win? Is it only faith when things work out the way you have planned? You only give me thanks when I perform exactly according to your script? Because you know sometimes, we've misconstrued what faith really means. The truth is your faith in God does not stop you from hurting, but it helps you heal, and it helps you deal. Your faith in God is not just about when everything is rosy and everything is good. And so this service, Pastor and I planned it ahead of time, it was supposed to be a thanksgiving service. Ladies and gentlemen, I have news for you: it is still a thanksgiving service!

Wow! What a nice way to look at things and what a powerful message to deliver about it. What do you think about what Banky W said? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post.
