Nigerian singer Ayra Starr recently made an appearance during the Release Athens Festival where she kicked off her European tour. After the performance, pictures and videos from the set started to go viral as many people were dragging Ayra Starr for going on stage and wearing skirts so short, that according to them, they could see her pant. Just a few of the many comments had people saying: "What is she wearing though?", "Her sex appeal used to be through the roof, but now that she's overly conscious about it, it is borderline disgusting.", "Wait . Wait .. Wait .... No be pant I dey see so?" amidst more.

When she finally came back online and saw the backlash that her outfit was receiving, as well as the fact that people were dragging her for showing her pant on stage, Ayra Starr took to social media to write a response to those bashing her saying:
AYRA STARR: These are literally matching shortssss, but amazing for you! You’ve seen pant ! Congratulations, you’ve finally achieved something in your life

In an interview with Cool FM when Ayra Starr was asked why she likes to wear such skimpy clothes, the singer said:
AYRA ATARR: In real life, I like to enter into two different energies. Sometimes I'm just like a guy, I want to wear boots today. And then sometimes, I'm wearing my skirt that's just as tiny as a belt [laughs]. And sometimes, I'm not wearing clothes [laughs]. But I just like to expose myself to different things, I like to feel different things, and I put that in my music too. I want people to be able to feel 2 different energies. I can start a song very like slow or sad and then in the chorus, I'm angry. I want people to feel different things when they hear me.
