The day started out like any other for the three students in the third grade class. They were all sitting in their seats working on their math homework when the teacher entered the room and announced that they were going to have a new teacher next year. The students were all surprised and didn’t know what to do. The new teacher, Ms. Jones, walked around the room and introduced herself to the students. She told them that she was going to be their new teacher and that she would be there to help them learn and grow. The first few weeks of school were hard for the students. They were used to their old teacher and everything about their life was going to change. Ms. Jones was a lot stricter than the old teacher and she didn’t seem to care about the students. Third, set time-outs. When you start getting overwhelmed, take a break. Go outside, take a bath, or do something else that will help you relax. Fourth, set goals. Figure out what you want to accomplish in the next month, year, or lifetime, and set a deadline for yourself. Then, work towards that goal, even if it means taking small steps. Finally, be patient.
