An unrepeatable but traceable success
An unrepeatable but traceable success

John D. Rockefeller (1839 -- 1937) was an American industrialist, supercapitalism, and founder of the Mobil Oil Company. He is the richest man in the history of the world except for a monarch, and is widely recognized as the "king of oil."
The success of such a man is impossible to replicate.
But after reading two books about him at the same time, The Autobiography of Rockefeller and the 38 Letters of Rockefeller to His Son, I think that success is inseparable from chance, but also not by chance, there are traces.
Here are 8 of them that touched me the most.
1. It's necessary to be greedy
Fate to be created on their own, sincerely hope that things must try to get.
The distance between success and failure is not like people imagine that is just a mistake, but to see who has a stronger "greedy", who can coruscate and display all their strength, and do their best, beyond themselves.
Here "greed" means desire, ambition, ambition.
Rockefeller said that a man must live with ambition; otherwise, he is like a rudderless ship, forever adrift, reaching only the shores of disappointment, failure, and discouragement.
The goal must be great because, to achieve something, it must be exciting. Great goals can stimulate you to exert all your power. Without stimulation, there is no powerful force to push you forward.
Rockefeller was an extreme stickler for excellence. As long as he was first, he saw no difference between second and last. He often reminds himself: Don't make small plans, because it does not motivate the soul.
2. Take risks to take advantage of opportunities, fortune favors the brave.
To move forward, you must be willing to make decisions and take risks. Life is a constant mortgage.
Once avoiding failure becomes your motivation, you're on the road to laziness. Fear of failure means you don't dare to take risks. If you don't take risks, you miss the opportunity in front of you.
Rockefeller believed that bravery and boldness were more attractive than caution and that the chance of winning by taking risks was much greater than caution. Taking risks is an indispensable means for businessmen to fight in the market.
Dream + Failure + Challenge = Path to Success?
The skill of taking risks without incurring failure: plan boldly and execute carefully.
I just read "Making Good Decisions" about how to make decisions, and it's great.
3. Do it now -- the power of action
No matter how big a man's ambition is, he must at least start before he can reach the peak. As long as willing to take positive action, you will be closer to success.
Successful implementation of one good idea is much more valuable than coming up with a thousand good ideas at home.
Make it a habit to do it now. Don't procrastinate. Don't make excuses.
4. Hard work makes a noble?
In most cases, the position of parents determines the start of a child's life, but it does not mean that different starting points will lead to different life outcomes.
Rich children, though starting from a higher place, lack the ambition to save themselves that poor people have. People from humble backgrounds are in desperate need of saving themselves, so they actively exert their creativity and abilities, and cherish and seize all kinds of opportunities.
Climbing up in the suffering of people, knowing how to leave no stone unturned to find a way to save themselves, through the difficult road, will not only cast our strong character, achievement of great practical ability is born from this.
There is no forever aristocrat, there is no forever poor, there is only I struggle my success of the truth. Opportunities are only left to diligent people, the achievement of every goal comes from diligent thinking and diligent action.
5. Faith is gold?
We should value ourselves and overcome the greatest human weakness -- self-deprecation.
A person's self-concept is the core of his personality. What you think you are is what you become. Those who believe they have the "ability to take on big responsibilities" will indeed become a "very important" person.
The size of confidence determines the size of the achievement. Whenever you believe "I can do it", you will naturally figure out "how to solve it", and success is born in solving problems successfully.
Develop an attitude that I can do better by thinking every day: How can I do my job better today?
6. Insult is a motivator, and tolerance is a strategy.
Rockefeller was once barred from a group photo shoot in high school because of his shabby clothes. Swore under insult to be the richest man in the world one day.
Dignity is not a gift, nor is it given, it is something you create.
For an ambitious person, maintaining the necessary subservience and patience is a successful strategy that is always tried and true. Patience is not to swallow indignity, bow, and scrape, but a kind of character, bred in a competitive heart.
Impulse is our biggest enemy at any time. We must practice our ability to manage and control our emotions. We must pay attention not to be swayed by our emotions when making decisions, but to make decisions based solely on our needs.
Rockefeller was a man of great calmness and endurance. Clark, his first partner, dismissed him and disparage him to the face as incapable of doing anything but keeping books and managing money. Rockefeller turns a deaf ear to him but fights him, and finally gets rid of Mr. Clark. And because of the disagreement with the second partner Andrews, Rockefeller has been enduring until the opportunity is ripe to part ways.
7. Always think strategically.
Rockefeller uses the stories of fishermen and anglers to illustrate strategic thinking. Even though the angler has done a lot of preparatory work, he can catch fish only as far as the line reaches, the fishing range is close to zero. The fisherman nets the fish enlarges the fishing range, and it will be easier to catch the fish he wants.
Rockefeller says he is not a rigid, methodical angler who simply solves problems, but a fisherman who can create a variety of options until he picks the fish that makes the most business sense. That's the secret to making money.
Whatever you do, the best way to find the perfect idea is to have a lot of ideas. Before you make the perfect decision, commit yourself to explore the possibilities, considering them, and actively trying them out. Then focus on the best choice.
As you execute your plan, keep your strategy open, adapt to The Times, and make adjustments or corrections. Even if the plan doesn't go well, don't panic, but stay calm.
8. The end is the beginning? (accumulation)
"The end is the beginning" is Andrew. Carnegie's secret to success. Suggesting that success is a process of continuous reproduction. The end is the last stop of a journey and the beginning of a new dream. Every great success is to use a small success to pile up their own.
Rockefeller agrees and adds a strategy for exactly how to start a new dream.
How to Look for Opportunities -- When embarking on a new business, you shouldn't take the first step until you know the whole picture. The first step to success is to know where and how many resources you need to achieve your goal.
Good is always BETTER THAN bad -- IDEAL opportunities are rarely presented, but often many are not, but a good opportunity with defects is better than no opportunity at all.
How to compete - Study and review your opponent's situation (strengths, weaknesses, style, and personality traits) and then use that knowledge to your advantage.
How to Win -- the determination to win. Since the determined pursuit of victory must be fully committed, this means that you must be positive and ruthless within the limits of morality, and this attitude comes directly from the cruel goal. Because to put in the effort is to let others reduce an opportunity. Without the determination to win, there is little use in watching the competition and knowing your opponent.
At the beginning of every new dream, the most important thing is the determination to win.
Conclusion:
Even to complete a project, to accomplish a thing, all need planning, let alone the pursuit of success.
Planning doesn't happen in a vacuum. When planning, know your goals, what resources you have, adjust your goals to your resources, adjust your resources to your goals, and the rest is how and when.
Favorite is -- "the end is the beginning", every great success, are with small success to pile up their own.
