Amanda Nunes: The Greatest Female Mixed Martial Artist of All Time?

Amanda Nunes is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She is the current UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion and UFC Women's Featherweight Champion, making her the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously in two different weight classes. Early life and career

Nunes was born in Pojuca, Bahia, Brazil, on May 30, 1988. She began training in jiu-jitsu at the age of 16 and made her professional MMA debut in 2008. She quickly rose through the ranks of the sport, winning the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship in 2016. Nunes joined the UFC in 2016 and has since defeated some of the biggest names in the women's division, including Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, and Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC career

Nunes made her UFC debut on July 23, 2016, at UFC on Fox 20, where she defeated Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision. She then defeated Shayna Baszler by TKO in the first round at UFC 200. In her next fight, Nunes faced Miesha Tate for the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship at UFC 205. Nunes won the fight by TKO in the first round to become the new champion.

Nunes defended her title for the first time against Ronda Rousey at UFC 207. Nunes knocked out Rousey in 48 seconds, the fastest knockout in UFC women's history. Nunes then defended her title against Valentina Shevchenko for a second time at UFC 215. Nunes won the fight by unanimous decision.

In 2018, Nunes moved up to the featherweight division. She made her featherweight debut at UFC 226, where she defeated Cris Cyborg by TKO in the first round. Nunes became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously in two different weight classes.

Nunes has continued to defend her titles successfully. She defeated Germaine de Randamie by TKO in the first round at UFC 232. She then defeated Holly Holm by TKO in the first round at UFC 239. Nunes most recently defended her titles against Julianna Peña at UFC 269, where she won by TKO in the second round.
