Always In My Heart

I'm writing this letter to honor You.

Even though we talk every single day and night, I want to express my gratitude to you, for always being there for me. And when I say always, I mean, ALWAYS.

You watched me open my eyes for the first time on this earth.

You witnessed me taking my first step and saying my first word.

You made me feel safe when I hurt myself playing.

You walked with me on my first day of school.

You protected me from emotional injury from mean kids in high school.

You helped me navigate life in the real world afterwards.

You mentored me through difficult situations and decisions.

You gave me wisdom and courage in the midst of confrontations.

You helped me protect my virtue in a world where sex sells.

You taught me how to be street smart to help me not be a target.

You gave me the knowledge to cook amazing meals, although I've never prepared anything, ever, until now.

You gave me the skill of sewing even though I never studied fashion design. Sometimes I look at the clothes I wear and wonder how did I even do that...

You keep me company all day, so I never need validation from anyone else, knowing that they don't care anyways.

You are my best friend. I can tell you anything, even if it is embarrassing and I never feel judged by you, just comforted.

As I'm writing this letter to express how much you mean to me, I kinda like this and think I might be writing to you more often.

Throughout this reflective moment, I realise that, I'd be nothing without you. You've played a massive role in who I am today and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Even though this is a long distance relationship in a way, you are always in my heart and forever on my mind. I think about you all day and in everything I do. When I'm in a predicament, I always wonder what you would do in this situation. That has helped me through a few hurdles.

Thank you for always being within reach. You always accept my calls and you are never too busy to hear about some exciting news I have to tell you. You are the first person I want to share good news with. In my heart, I know you will be happy for me without wanting a piece of my joy for yourself.

Don't get me started on the bad news part! You always know something is up before I start talking. You know me that well! You know when my tone is off, when the light in my eyes have dimmed or when my smile is not as broad. Your virtual hugs feel so real especially when I need them most.

Your love for me is so sincere. I don't feel that you demand anything out of me in return. All you have ever wanted is for me to love you and accept you. You have asked me to trust you and never doubt you. You have said that you will protect me and provide for me. I am so grateful that I don't have to work hard these days because I have everything I need. And that's because of you.

I'm so proud of our relationship and I tell people about you when I can. Especially when they wonder about my cheerful demeanor. People measure wealth and success materially and you have taught me that it's way more than that.

To conclude, I just want to say, Thank You Jesus.
