Many four-letter words have come to be considered derogatory or profane. Several four-letter words have been declared legally indecent by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). They are banned from use on television, radio, and open-air broadcasting. They are also upsetting for some people to hear.

Even though many popular and slang terms are offensive to some, there are many positive and good four-letter words.

This article contains an alphabetical list of some commonly used good four-letter words because all four-letter words aren't bad.

1. Amen

Amen is a good word. That's because it is said at the end of a prayer, creed, formal statement, or hymn, meaning “it is so.” It is spoken to express solemn ratification or agreement. There is nothing bad or offensive about the word Amen.

2. Body

The word “body” has several meanings. The most common meaning is the physical structure of a person or an animal, including the flesh, organs, and bones. The body is only one part of man. The other two parts are also four-letter words: soul and mind.

3. Born

Everyone who ever existed was born from a woman. It signifies the beginning of life and the entry of an individual into the world.

4. Care

God cares for us because He created us in His own image. Because He cares for us, He provides for us, protects us, and wants the best for us. God wants us to care for others just as He cares for us.

5. Come

Sometimes God tells us to go, but sometimes He tells us to come to Him.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

6. Draw

Similar to “come,” the word “draw” connotes a closer encounter with God. To draw near means to get as close to something or someone as possible. When you draw near to God, you will surely experience His presence. There is absolutely nothing bad about the word “draw” when it means drawing near to God.

7. Fast

The Bible tells us to fast and pray. Fasting involves abstaining from worldly pleasures for a period of time. Most people who fast give up food. However, it could be giving up watching television, shopping, and being intimate with one's spouse for a period of time.

8. Free

Free is not a four-letter bad word. Instead, it is good to be free. Don't think that because we are not in prison, we are free. Some people are behind invisible walls when they do not live their truth.

9. Give

Giving is usually limited to handing over money to someone. However, giving is not limited to finances. Giving may include food, water, clothes, and love. Giving is more powerful when you give out of your own need.

We are encourages us to give our time, talent, and whatever we can provide for others.

10. Grow

People grow physically. Some grow and develop spiritually through righteous living.

11. Hear

People hear with their ears. Some people listen and hear with their hearts.

12. Help

Help is a good four-letter word. It is also an action word. We should not be selfish. Instead, we should help those who need help.

13. Live

Every life is valuable. Therefore, we should live and let live.

14. Love

First Corinthians 13:4-8 is a good description of love:

"Love is long-suffering and kind. It does not envy; does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth: bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

It is so much easier to love our family members and friends than it is to love our enemies. However, the true test of God's love is to love our enemies and our neighbors as ourselves. Paul sums it up correctly when he ends 1 Corinthians 13:13 with these words:

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13.

15. Pray

Praying is communicating with God. There are many types of prayers that we can pray during the day, from the time we get up in the morning to the time we go to bed at night. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “Pray without ceasing.”

16. “Read “

We grow by reading. We learn what is going on around us and what is happening in the world. Reading the Bible also helps us to know about God and things related to God.

17. Rest

God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day. If God could do all of that in that short period of time and still rest, we should be able to do what we need to do and still find time to rest. To follow God's example and do our bodies justice, we should purpose to get plenty of rest.

18. Seek

Matthew 6:33 tells us that if we seek the Kingdom of God first, then all the things we need will be added to us. When we place God first in our lives, we will recognize Him protecting us, providing for us, and doing amazing things for our good. We should develop the spiritual discipline of seeking the Kingdom of God first in all circumstances.

19. Sing

The Bible is clear that everyone should make a joyful noise unto the Lord (Psalm 100:1). The scripture does not say that only people who have a melodious voice should sing. Everyone who has breath can sing praises unto the Lord.

The command to sing may be repeated more frequently than any command in the Bible except the one to love.

20. Stop

To live a righteous life, there are some things we should stop doing as well as some things we should start doing.

21. Talk

We relate to people by talking to them. We can communicate with others by talking to them and then by listening to what they have to say.

22. Walk

Some people have been described as “talking the talk, but not walking the walk." There are about 62 Bible verses about walking in the way and will of God.

We can endure and overcome many unpleasant things when we develop the habit of walking with God.

23. Word

The Word of God is found in the Holy Bible. Whatever God says is His Word that we should obey. If we want to faithfully serve God, then we should read what He says. By regularly reading what God says enables us to grow spiritually.

24. Work

The Bible says a lot about how we should approach work. Here is a familiar verse about work:

“The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
