A Thankful Letter
For All To Read

Dear Mama,
Our love story starts way back in 1998. The day you had me. I wasn't the easiest child to take care of due to all my health issues over the years. I watch you still grow in your career. 2010 was a very exciting year. My twin (people always said) got something she worked hard for despite all the obstacles. That year you became my biggest role model. A few years later my sister followed your path, my brother did too, and of course, I followed my twin. Now we are a family of 3 nurses ( You, Ashley, and Me) and a respiratory therapist(Junior).
Thank you for not giving up, and letting us be your motivation for you to finish nursing school. I remember when I was sick throwing up all nights. You had a nursing book in your hand and were studying until you heard me gag and vomit. You call the troops, my big brother and big sister, they had to grab the towels and the vapor machine, because I was also wheezing and coughing (struggling with asthma ). That night you laid in bed with me and made my doctors appointment right away. Took me to the doctor, picked up my medicine and got me back home to start my breathing treatment. During that time you still found time to study. You made no excuse for yourself even though you could have.
Another time you was studying, while I was getting out of the tub at around 7 years old I noticed something and yelled “I have hair like you Mommy”. I thought it was a normal thing, good thing I told you and my big sister. You ran in my room and you and Ashley looked, “What” you yelled in shock. This led to many doctors visits and tests. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Precocious puberty and had to take hormone shots. Guess who gave me my shots at home every month? Lol you know it was you. Yes you being a nurse in training made me feel comfortable of letting you give my shots. Eventually, you graduate through all this mayhem with my health (Asthma attacks and precocious puberty ). I'm still amazed at how you stayed sane through all of that.
You remind me that I don't have any excuse not to be successful, I have no kids and no added responsibilities like you did. Yes I remember you crying a many of nights, but you never gave up. I know it was a tough fight, even with the support system you had. But you knew what reaching your goal would mean for all of us. I am so happy you didn't quit, so none of us would quit either.
I'm grateful to have a very close relationship with you. I love it when we dress alike. I love it when we joke around with each other. You make my world go round. The reason I smile every day. We have random dance breaks throughout the house. Just a good time with each other.
Here is a haiku to show how much you mean to me:
My mama, my peace
My heartbeat that shines for me
My reason to thrive
_
A mom where many hats. You prove that. Thanks for always having my back. Our love will forever be intact, yes that's a fact. Super thankful that you stayed true to you. In the end, you made my life feel brand new. Thanks for reminding me to always believe in me. You are everything a daughter needs. A true friend indeed. I love you Mommy.
Love, Emily
