In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, there is a special hospital for the disabled, where people suffering from severe physical disabilities are admitted. These patients are unable to move any part of their bodies. Some of them are victims of paralysis, while others have been severely injured in accidents, leaving them completely immobile.

I had the opportunity to visit such a hospital. The hospital is old and neglected, giving the impression that little care is taken in maintaining it. The environment is very quiet, almost as if you’ve entered a deserted jungle. There is very little activity, and the place feels almost abandoned. In one of the rooms, I saw a 17-year-old boy who had been seriously injured in a road accident and was now bedridden. His condition was so bad that he could not move any part of his body, except for his head. His hands, legs, and entire body were completely immobile.

However, what I saw hanging in front of his bed shocked me. There was no television in front of him, so he couldn’t lie down and watch videos. There was no laptop or computer for him to pass the time playing games. Instead, this boy had made a special request to his family: he asked them to hang large sheets of paper with big letters of the Quran in front of his bed, so he could look at them and memorize the verses. Even though he couldn’t move any part of his body except his head, the boy had made a firm decision—he would memorize the entire Quran. After memorizing each page, he would gesture with his head to signal his family to hang the next page.

When I entered his room, he was in the process of memorizing Surah Mujadilah. I asked him how much he had managed to memorize. He replied, “A little more than ten Juz.”

Curious, I pointed to a box in the room and asked, "What’s inside this box?" I was told, "It contains the pages of the Quran—around 200 pages."

So, this boy, who cannot move any part of his body, has made the firm determination to memorize the entire Quran and has already memorized more than ten Juz!

Many days later, I visited him again in the hospital. By then, he was able to move his hands a little and was memorizing the 15th Juz.

SubhanAllah!

When my friends hear or learn about this, they often express regret, saying, "Oh, if only I could memorize the Quran! If only I had the same dedication!" When they see young children, even as young as 10 years old, who have memorized the entire Quran, they are amazed and say, "At such a young age, this child has memorized the whole Quran? Oh, how I wish I could do the same!"

I tell them, "You can do it too. It’s your own willpower that is holding you back. If you find the courage to move forward, you will definitely be able to memorize the Quran, because you are a healthy person. There is no excuse for someone as fit as you. Your own mental strength is what weakens you and keeps you from achieving it."

If we all, like this boy, stay firm in our determination, physical limitations will not be able to stop us. When our willpower is unshaken, we can overcome any obstacle in our way.

So, we must learn from this—if our determination is strong, even in the toughest circumstances, we will surely reach our destination.

InshaAllah...

Some Hadiths and Evidence of Prophet ﷺ's Confidence

Unshakable Faith in Allah:

The foundation of Prophet ﷺ’s confidence was his deep and unwavering faith and love for Allah. He believed that no one could help him except Allah, and that when he sought help from Allah sincerely, nothing was impossible.

Hadith:

"If you put your trust in Allah, He will be enough for you."

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2338)

In this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ is teaching that having faith in Allah makes everything easier for a person. Through this, he established the basis of true confidence: anyone who places their trust in Allah will never be disappointed.
