She crossed the line

Part 2

Cathy finds it hard to forget the incident that happened. The way she felt warm when her lips met with Peter's at the hallway. On Monday at work, she finds it hard to concentrate. Always thinking about Peter. It was the beer that made her let down her guard and forget she was married. At work, she tries to pretend that nothing happened. But inside her, she still thinks about it. Peter and Cathy try to be professional at work by not letting the attraction tension come in the way of work. They would meet eyes in the workplace, and Cathy would break it quickly, blushing. Peter knew from her Facebook profile that she is married with two kids. But this did not bother Peter. Her beauty makes Peter lust after her.

Peter hosted another party at his house again and invited all of the same coworkers. Peter WhatsApped Cathy to be there also. She agreed. At the weekend, all the co-workers met at Peter's house. At the party, beers and drinks flowed as the evening progressed. Everyone was getting tipsy and having fun. Among the group, Peter innocently came and sat beside Cathy, cracking random jokes to everyone as he sat down. He sat down very close to Cathy that their thighs were touching. The mood was light and warm as everyone was socializing, but the attraction between Cathy and Peter grew.

Some time passed, Cathy got up and went to the bathroom. That is when Peter also got up and followed her. He waited outside in the hallway as Cathy went into the restroom. When she came out, Peter jokingly said, "Can you hurry up?"

"Why are you following me?" Cathy blushed as she protested.

"Just want to make sure you don't get lost," said Peter.

They flirted more as Peter moved in closer. Peter went in for the kiss again. But this time he softly whispered to her, "Follow me," as he held her hand and led her. Peter led her into one of his rooms and closed the door. It was then that all the pent-up tension broke out. It was quick, rough, and sweaty. The encounter was brief and relieving. That night changed Cathy forever. She had allowed someone into her space. She had crossed the line. But she seemed to not care. Is she falling for Peter? Will her husband find out?

After the party, some co-workers dropped Cathy and others off at their houses. It was 8 p.m. in the evening. She stumbled as she went into the front door of her house, and a text came into her phone. It was an unknown number. The text read, "I am not a fool, I know what you have done!"

Her heart sank, and her hands got cold. Her mind was racing. Who might this be? Is it her husband? How did he know? At that moment, she sobered up faster than lightning. This could not be happening to me, she thought.

She checked the number again. No name. Just the chilling message staring back at her. A lump formed in her throat. She didn't dare respond. Her thoughts spiraled. Had someone seen them at the party? Was it one of the co-workers? Or worse—was someone watching her?

Cathy turned off the lights and went straight to the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror. Her reflection looked different. Guilt was written all over her face. But so was something else—desire. A dangerous mix.

She sat on the edge of the bathtub, staring blankly at her phone, waiting, hoping no second message would follow. But nothing. If it was her husband, what will she do? What will she expect?

STAY TUNED FOR PART 3.
