Look around you. Look at all the chaos. Look at all the hatred among our comrades. See the disrespect because we couldn’t find it in our hearts to agree to disagree. What is that? What is this division that we have placed on ourselves? What happened to We the People? I am a strong believer of free will, but it hurts me to see the state of our society. Many of us are ripping each other apart with everything but our teeth because we disagree on some things. What happened to our first amendment? What happened to being able to have a cordial discussion without belittlement or aggression? We are a divided country. Is this really the world we all wanted?
We are at war. Not the guns blazing and grenades kind of war, but a spiritual war.
As some of you already know, I am a Christian. I usually say I am a person of Faith due to the amount of hate thrown at religion because a few bad people choose to abuse it. So address me how you will, but I am a believer in Jesus Christ and I believe that He died so that we may have a chance to be forgiven and redeemed. I look around at today’s society and I don’t see anyone who deserves to be forgiven, myself included. We don’t deserve His grace or mercy. We are self-righteous fools.
One of the biggest divisions taking place currently is if abortions should be legal. One side says they should be and one side says they shouldn’t. One side claims that a fetus isn’t a baby until they are born, while one claims it is a child at the point of conception. I am pro-life, but as I said earlier, I am a strong believer of free will. How is that not a contradiction, you wonder? Let me explain.
I can sit here all day and try to explain how abortion is murder. I mean, an eight month abortion consists of inducing labor, but the baby doesn’t receive any treatment or care. Meaning the baby is fully born, is out of the mother’s womb and is left to die on the table, which contradicts the argument of it not being alive. The baby is fully born, and people stand around the table hearing the cries until it is lifeless. We have all heard of the female infanticide that took place in old Chinese cultures. Leaving the daughters in the wilderness to die to try for a son since there was a limitation on how many children one could have. Very similar practices. “Discard because we don’t want it.” Children are gifts from God. I have Endometriosis so I may never be able to have them, and if I am, miraculously, still fertile and I did get pregnant, having one could kill me, but that’s a sacrifice I would gladly make because I would place that in God’s hands.
You can disagree with me and that is perfectly fine. Like I said, I do believe in free will. All I can do is state my reasoning to possibly impact your take on the matter. I will not belittle you or attack you for believing something different. I respect your opinions even if I think you’re wrong. Though, I would say that God’s truth is the only truth, and pray that you find Him. Christians are called to be fishers of men. We are called to bring light, life, and love to people as the Lord has done for us, but we aren’t miracle workers. It is your decision to either change your ways or continue down your path. There are only two places we can go after we die and they are Heaven or Hell. The Lord says in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
It is so easy to live in the world. We harden our hearts and turn away our neighbors, and hate anyone who has an opposing view. Instead of seeing someone as an actual person, we see them as the “Racist Republican,” or the “Church Thumper,” or the “Ignorant Liberal.” Labeled as a way to dehumanize people so we don’t have to be remorseful for our actions.
John Eldredge referenced coming to Christ as the pills in the Matrix. You take the blue pill, you remain entranced by this world and trapped in sin. You take the red pill, your eyes open and you see just how small we are in the grand scheme of things. The people preaching on campuses and on the streets aren’t there for their sake, they are there for yours. All we can do is tell you about the path you’re on and about the Hell that awaits. Ultimately, it is your decision to take those words into account. You can sit there and call us crazy but we know the truth, and even some of the people who do know the truth won’t make it into Heaven as seen in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me ‘ Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then I will declare to them ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” Because everything they have done has been for their own righteousness. Many of the people who fall into this category are actually the reason a vast amount of people have turned away from religion and the world is suffering for it.
Continue to fill your hearts with hate and justifications, but don’t ridicule the ones who are warning you about where the path you’re walking down leads. We are only the messengers, and you can’t say “the Lord doesn’t love us if He’s willing to cast us into Hell” because He has put many people in your path to warn you, but you have chosen to continue feeding your fleshly desires. Ask yourself, why would He force you to live an eternity with Him in heaven when you detested everything He stood for in this life? Hence, your free will to choose.
