Stories That Listen is an intriguing poem book.

There are so many books in the world that I have yet to traverse. I fell in love with the stories many writers have brought to life through songs, poems, and novels. I believe it's time I compile a list of those books and share them with you!

Stories That Listen

Stories that listen is a 61-page poem book that is well worth reading. The author is named Priscilla Becker. Pricilla's words were unique and strung quite well together. She won The Paris Review Book Prize for her first book, Internal West. Published in 2010, Stories That Listen consists of several beautifully written poems. The relativity in some of the verses made me feel as if someone truly was listening and could recite with me in harmony.

Logic is one of the poems featured in Stories That Listen.

Chinese Cinderella

Adeline Yen Mah tells her true story about the life of an unwanted step-daughter. As the story unfolds, it gives you insight into how cruel it was growing up decades ago. Adeline was a newborn whose mother passed giving birth to her. Her family proceeded to treat her like a black sheep and believed her to be a bad omen. Adeline's only desire was to receive unconditional love and acceptance from her family.

Pardon the wear and tear this book has been through a lot.

The Wicked Lovely Desert Series

If you enjoy reading manga, I suggest you give this short fantasy series a go. Melissa Marr is a great writer, and these three books are no exception. Wicked Lovely is about a faerie turned human named Rikka. In the first book, you'll find that she did not choose to be a faery. After some time of getting used to her new life, she'll meet some friends and experience hot romance as well.

The Immortalists

The Immortalists, a novel written by Chloe Benjamin, will have you turning the pages in suspense. This intellectual thriller is about four siblings who sneak out to visit a world-renowned psychic. Each of the siblings receives some perception of what their future will behold. Varya, however, is intrigued the most by the foretelling of her insane obsession with immortality by dedicating herself to testing the boundaries of science.

A beautiful illustration for a great book.

In the Woods

In the Woods is a psychological thriller novel written by Tana French. To summarize; Three children are playing in the woods nearby their home, when suddenly of the three, two go missing. The third boy is so traumatized by the event that he mentally blocks the memories of that horrific situation. A few years pass, Rob Ryan is now a detective leading an investigation about a little girl who went missing in those very same woods. With the help of his partner Cassie Maddox, he will uncover not only the truth about his secret past but use the traumatic events as clues to help them find the little girl.

The novel was too large for my phone to get a frontal picture of the title.

Midnight Magic

The way Avi communicates the stories in her novels is what had me hooked. Midnight Magic is no exception. Mangus the Magician is condemned to house arrest after being tried for using magic. However, King Claudio sends count Scarazoni and a knight to fetch Mangus. The king forces Mangus and his servant Fabrizio to investigate a haunting that his daughter is experiencing every night. Fabrizio teams up with the princess in determination to uncover the truth behind the ghostly mystery. What will they discover? You'll have to pick up the book and find out.

Avi's exceptional writing. She has a brilliant way with words.

The Bigger World

Another beautifully written poetry booklet I had received as a gift, The Bigger World, is an all-time favorite. I was most captivated by Noelle Kocot's descriptions in her poems. She is the author of four previous collections of poetry. Each book delivers various intricate compositions that will melt your heart.

Persepolis is a particular excerpt from Noelle's book that piqued my interest.
