Everyone defines happiness in their way. But we all agree that certain ingredients are needed to achieve happiness. The health and love of the people around us are essential things, to which is added the feeling of fulfillment that comes from different areas of life, whether it is a profession or the intense experience of the present.

Happiness means doing certain actions to achieve satisfaction and serenity. But it also means not doing some things that, in the long run, become fierce enemies of your well-being.

The list of things you should avoid to be happy is undoubtedly much longer. But we have chosen 10 of them, which can endanger your happiness at any time.

1. Never try to smoke

Smokers say that they cannot give up this "pleasure", which brings them a state of calm and satisfaction. We all know, however, that smoking means slowly killing yourself.

By smoking, you simply choose to ruin one of the fundamental conditions of happiness: health. So, if you have not yet fallen prey to this poisoned satisfaction, you have no good reason to embrace such a vice.

2. Don't ignore your parents

Good parents are a treasure that you will not always have with you. Besides the fact that you owe them a lot, they were your first source of affection, the gateway to the world, and your most ardent supporters.

Never postpone phone calls and visit them as often as you can, if you don't want to have bitter regrets later.

3. Don't let anyone control your life

It is not in vain to say, "Be the master of your destiny!" As long as we allow someone to control our lives, we are in a state of dependence and immaturity. Not being truly free is tantamount to being deeply unhappy.

People can control you through their authority, violence, or emotional manipulation. Sometimes even loved ones try to tell you what to do and how to live your life. But if you want to be truly happy, you have to be the craftsman of your destiny.

4. Don't forget about your health

If you ignore today to take care of yourself, you build the foundation of later unhappiness on your own. Health is the best price because it comes hand in hand with the ability to enjoy.

A suffering person no longer feels satisfaction in anything, not even in the time spent with loved ones.

5. Never put work above family or friends

There is a time for everything, says someone much wiser than us. So do everything right at the right time and make room for the important beings in your life.

Work can give you a sense of accomplishment, but only love can make you truly happy. Balance your personal life with your professional life, if you do not want to suffer later when you realize that you have not lived your moment.

6. Don't spend more than you earn

The reason is very simple. If you waste money and accumulate debt, your peace of mind will be completely compromised. You will have ephemeral satisfactions, but you will not enjoy the stability on which real happiness is built.

When you run into reckless spending, you end up with a whole bunch of bad consequences: hard-to-cover loans, overwork, worries that don't give you peace of mind, even feelings of depression and helplessness that make happiness impossible.

7. Don't judge others

You never know what lies behind a person's actions, or what struggles they have in their lives.

Before judging, you must try to understand. A person who lives by constantly criticizing those around him, who cannot think of anything beautiful because he is too busy to judge, will never be happy.

8. Never forget who helped you in difficult times

The small and big things that others have done for you should not be forgotten. The state of happiness has its roots in the gratitude we have for those around us.

Whether it's close friends who have supported you in difficult times or strangers who have helped you get through an obstacle, don't overlook these soulful things.

9. Never give up on your dreams

Dreams are what give meaning to our lives, and the need for meaning is one of the prerequisites for happiness. Fulfilled dreams bring us joy, the ones we have not reached yet maintain our youthful soul and the strength to move forward.
